What's new

New Zealand [339/5] defeat England [335/9] by 5 wickets in 4th ODI to level the 5-match series (2-2)

Why Nicholas tuk tuking? Get some pressure off Taylor can't expect him to hit some blows so late in the innings.

No need, can just knock it around for ones and twos and win. Wait for a bad ball to mash for six rather than try force it

This innings showed cricket is not all about stats. I would take Taylor over Amla in ODIs, despite Amla having better stats in everything. Some players don't have the gear or guts, and some do.

If England are to win the world cup, they need to replace Woakes and Curran as their death bowlers. They're useless. Jordan and Stokes are still a better bet.

It was awesome how Ian Smith was talking about taylor waiting for the right ball, and then Woakes bowls it and he blurts out "That's it" before it's even got to Taylor and gone for six :))

exactly... all felt it. I did as soon as it left Woakes hand

Had the pleasure of watching atleast part of one of the greatest ODI innings especially in a chase.

That was an allmighty knock by Taylor, one of the finest chases I've seen. They were 2-2!!!!

This joke of ODI team ENG will be contender for WC'19 as per many PPers, could not defend 335

England's bowling let them down, as usual. Except for Tom Curran, others are potentially mediocre ODI bowlers.

England should select bowlers with an average of at least 27 or under 27, in List A cricket, or their parties are going to be ruined like this more often.

Average above 40 in ODI cricket will always be considered good.

Not many teams can compete in New Zealand aswell as England have in this series. I believe New Zealand last lost a series at home in 2015. That too to a peak South African team in a three match series. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I will correct you. They lost to South African side last year also at their home.

Thanks.

Just checked, South Africa is the only team to win an ODI series in NZ in the past five years. People talk about India's domination at home, NZ has been quite a stronghold in itself.

335 was par score on small ground like this.England's batting collapse was shameful.
amazing Gritty innings from Taylor sets up for the final match of the series.

Outstanding innings.

This win actually tells how good Kiwis are at home. It's not about chasing 335 from 2/2 only; Kiwis brought this elimination game back with ball (& fielding) from 250/1 in 35 overs or so.

No, the batting did. From 260-2 with thirteen overs left, and Buttler and Stokes to come, they should have got 400 again.

Curran reminds me of Hasan Ali. Similar action, pace, mix of slower balls and faster ones. But what an innings from Taylor. I think he is better than KW without a shadow of doubt in ODI’s and just behind in Tests.

Well, Kane Williamson was never that great in ODIs, he doesn't have many memorable knocks. Still a great support batsman to Guptill or Taylor
