Ok so Pakistan have arrived in Hyderabad.

And after the niceties are done soon so...

Let's get down, let's get down to business

How does Pakistan approach this game and what will a win or loss mean in this game for Pakistan's first match against the Netherlands

I think Babar and Rizwan don’t need to play this game. Let Salman Ali Agha and Saud Shakeel bat at 3 and 4. Ifti at 5.

I think they must go with a consistent playing eleven in warm up against NZ who's gonna be a part of main event matches without any further experimentation with different combinations.

its a warm up game, 15 people can play
yeah but they should try to give a chance to play who will participate in main event matches.

I think they can rest their main bowlers but they must give a max exposure to their batsmen.

There is no way Babar and Rizwan wont play.

There is more chance of sun rising from the West than Babar and Rizwan not playing.

Rizwan even comes out of ICUs to make sure he doesnt miss a match and he would miss a warm up?

Not happening.
They both need to play mate

It won’t by Kuggelign, Matt Henry and all those jobber bowlers NZ and Australia bought to our shores in the World Cup

Normally with these warmups, the first choice batsmen will play in the first match in their normal positions while the reserves will come at 7-8. The bowlers will all bowl 6-7 overs each.

Second match, the batsmen who had good practice in the first match will slide down. The reserve bowlers will bowl most of the overs while the main bowlers rest.

That's how most teams use these games and Pakistan should be no different.

I hope Fakhar spends some decent time in the middle tomorrow. I don't care at what rate. We need to be realistic about his progress back into form and the first step is going to be to play a lengthy innings at whatever SR he can muster.

I'm not too worried about Babar, Imam and co getting some batting practice in this match. If we are going to win anything it will be the usual suspects scoring most of the runs and we have to accept we've run out of time to experiment. Agha will be playing useful cameos but we don't know if Saud is even going to feature much if at all.

I think it's quite pertinent not to gas out Shaheen and Rauf though. It's going to be a long tournament and we can't afford to rest either of them for a single game. I'd be quite happy for both to sit this warm up game out as the opening game against Netherlands is pretty much the same thing for these two.

Fakhar's horrible technique has got even worse recently. Just hope it was slow nature of SL pitches that made him look so bad

I hope they dont put too much efforts in this warm up as it is just meant to get trained and get good match practice. I remember Pak trashed SAF and one more team in 2007 WC warmups and then getting trashed by Ireland in Main Group Match. I hope it will not happen this time

I really wanna see the team that Babar will play tomorrow. Fakhar will be there with imam. No big changes i am looking at apart from hassan replacing naseem.

All batsman should play to get adjusted to conditions
Meanwhile main bowlers should be rested for this warm up fixture

4 consecutive games in Hyderabad for Pakistan, so even if they fail in warm ups, great opportunity to gauge the conditions. Can get a dream start in the world cup and head to the India clash 2-0 up.

All other contenders have tricky matches first up, Eng-NZ, Ind-Aus, Aus-SA.

God damn.

Will be tough first up but a upset is possible.

India-Aus should be good too. Aus carrying some momentum from last game could cause an upset despite India coming off a series win. Aus should beat SA.

Won't say upset because Aus turns into a different beast in world cups, and they are at least as good as India in ODI cricket.

Won't read too much into the recent series because both sides were treating them like warm ups.

SA in ODIs generally lift their game against Aussies, so should be a good one.

Eng-NZ will be the opening game, should be a cracker.

I don't mind failing in warmups as long as players and bench strength is tested.
Do we have bench strength? Abdullah Saud and Usama combined have played only 14 ODI'S. How can anyone expect them to virtually start their careers in a WC and perform straightaway?
Babar had probably decided the playing 11 for first WC game 2-3 years ago

What if an injury happens? Or if a player is unfit? The playing 11 strategy won't work every time. Theirs a reason it was exposed against India 2x.

I would think the purpose of warm up games is to let all 17 guys have a hit. Bat bowl field or wk keep. dont worry abot the result. just go and have a trot in the middle .
As an indian fan, i am in favor of the WKeepign being shared 25 ov each between ishi and kl. Keeps both fresh in either scenario (bat first or bowl first) to contribute later or earlier with bat.

And it will very likely get exposed again in WC. Horrible planning when members of your squad haven't got any game time in the build up to the WC.
Babar has left himself with no options again. Remember how he kept on playing Hasan Ali during 2021 WC with his deteriorating form

Warm up game is expected to keep players fresh and get acquainted with the conditions especially who are frontline players for team. There is no point seniors like Babar, Imam and Rizwan should rest. Those who believe this have no idea about what warm up game means.

We need fakhar daddy hundred badly
We need it in real match, not tomorrow. Pak batters don't usually make back to back hundreds. Right now team looks very relaxed and bit overwhelmed after landing in India. They need to become serious and get into business asap, and leave social media for now.

it would be interesting to see that which opening combination pak adopt tomorrow.. i think they should give a chance to abdullah along with Fakhar and lets see how it goes.

No point rotating too much now, gotta give the main players a proper run out in the conditions. Fakhar and Hasan Ali really need a good performance to get some confidence going.

BLACKCAPS captain Kane Williamson will miss the opening game of the ICC Cricket World Cup against England, as he continues to progress his knee rehabilitation.

Williamson will play as a batsman-only in today's first warm-up match against Pakistan in Hyderabad, with the aim of batting and fielding in Monday's second and final warm-up against South Africa in Trivandrum.

Coach Gary Stead said the priority was ensuring Williamson had time to progress his return to match fitness.

“Right from the start we’ve taken a long-term view on Kane’s return to play,” said Stead.

“His recovery is tracking well and it’s now a matter of making sure he can cope with the rigours and intensity of international cricket.

“We’ll continue to take a day by day approach to Kane’s rehabilitation and certainly won’t be putting any pressure on him to return before he is ready.”

Tom Latham will captain the side in today’s first warm-up match against Pakistan in Hyderabad which starts at 2pm local time, 9:30pm NZT.

The World Cup tournament matches will be broadcast on Sky Sports in New Zealand.

I don't think Williamson is fully fit for world cup .Kiwi take huge risks with him lets hope he is fit as soon as.

Yes. I agree. taking an unfit player to a world cup is a huge risk for him and the team in the long term. May be this is the last world cup for kane so they want him to be there.

Ground and weather looks good

Although it is a warmup game but still I am really looking forward to an exciting game of cricket.

I'm looking forward to this game because everyone gets a chance. Hopefully babar learns from this warmup.

Come on Babar please, make me your no 1 fan 🫠

Reading into warm up games is a waste of time, historically if we do well in warmups, we lose the plot in the real game and vice versa.

I am banking on a loss first up

Any updates on Where to watch Ptv is not showing any coverage as off now

Please see

Pakistan have won the toss and elected to bat. Pakistan will play all 15 players in the match

Imam and Abdullah are taking charge and opening innings. Last time Pakistan played ODI in India in 2013. We won that ODI series

To be honest, stadiums in India are far better than Pakistan. I mean just look at grass quality and Massive stadiums giving vibes of Australian stadiums

i would have liked to have seen Fakhar opening today, good chance for him to find confidence in batting friendly conditions
but its a good chance, on the other hand, for Shafiq to prove he can go hard
