New Zealand tour of India, 1st Test: India v New Zealand at Hyderabad

Just got back to my room and opened a can of beer, and see that we already got them 2 down! Woohoo.

Swept for just a single by Sachin, keeps strike with that.

Pitch is flat, losing two wickets wasn't great. Bad shots. Tendu and Pujara to forge a 200 stand.

Top class ground fielding from NZ, saved a few boundaries

LOL at those stats for Franks - an epitome of a bits and pieces cricketer right there.

Good session for both teams, India up with the RR and NZ chipped in with 2 key wickets.

Patel has been bowling decently. This seems like a result pitch, getting a lot of turn already.

Dougie Bracewell bowled like he had a point to prove, great energy. Good spell. New Zealand did extremely well to take Sehwag's wicket at 47, he was all set to takeoff and Sehwag usually doesn't land before hitting triple figures. The more I see, this NZ attack, the more I feel, they need a raw fast bowler, I'm not talking about somebody like Kyle Mills (Tim Southee's quicker but horribly inconsistent), It's simple, either recall Shane Bond from retirement :)) or play Adam Milne. A little bit of extra pace on these wickets makes it tricky for the batsmen because the ball skids on.

Kohli seems to be fine fit at 3, wouldn't have hurt to play Pujara at 5. A chance for Raina to prove himself in white here. The real test will be for the Indian bowling unit. Big game for Umesh Yadav.

Well we've dropped Wagner.

Once again kiwis shooting themselves in foot with sloppy fielding, should have had India more then 2 down at lunch!

Martin to Tendulkar, FOUR, lovely slice, it was wide outside off and Tendulkar waited for it to come on and brought out the knife, placed it in the big gap at point

lovely commentary in cricinfo

all the indian pitches are good for batting only .... :(

Lol you think Indians will allow that? :))

Anyways, by stumps today India will be 363/3. Then they will eventually rack up 600 to make this a dull affair. The story of every match India play at home.

Here's hoping NZ get at least 7 wickets today.

NZ will hope that the pitch remains the same all 5 days

This kind of pitches kill Test cricket

This is like a 90s pitch. a rank turner, You all conviniently ignored the overcast conditions in the first session. this will happen on all 5 days.
This pitch is NOT FLAT. It is like the UAE pitches Pakistan plays on.
You will find out later. Zaheer certainly will get reverse swing here.

I'm not watching the match on TV here.... so how's Pujara looking out there in the middle?? Any touch of class of the great man once in that position?

i may bash tendu but at 39.... with that temparement, fitness, hungry for runs.... Must be given respect!!!!

Seems to have a solid technique. Not as classy as Dravid though. Definitely got Dravidesque strike-rate capabilities though. :D

Almost Dravid like , infact the differences are that he got a lot of 2's and 3's which Dravid only did in Aus that too only in 2003-04.

I can safely confirm that India aren't going to score a mammoth 500 or 600ish score now. The batters left just don't have the class.

Thsi is NOT a 500 pitch, more like 350 . Your captain and the man in your Avatar have already called this much drier and different from the flat pitch in 2010.

Been engrossed in these games and nearly forgot about my own game tonight lol. Nearly gona be late.

Heh, acting like it kept low. Clearly beaten on the inside edge, you're a better sport than this Sach.

Test for Kohli's character here...Can he bat for long periods of time?!! Pujara is showing signs that he can

Gotta agree, Pujara is looking good for a big one here. I've put the mockers on.

All of the Kiwis are getting great swing and at times late swing. WTH, how did they lose to the Windies that badly if they have the capability to do that. And how do they still get that @41st over on an Indian pitch that is reportedly dry.

Not a difficult pitch to bat either, Gambhir and Sehwag got out to bad shots. 400 is possible if India can get a partnership going.

We couldn't negate Narine's mystery spin.

As usual my comment was from bowler's point of view.
A typical 90s Indian pitch would not favour 500. Only India could manage it . Ask the Aussies.
BTW, Dravid is a king on such pitches. SRT was good only in the 90s, there is a clear decline on turning pitches in his batting since teh Ganguly era. Murali would confirm that.

Even a guy who turns it by a millimetre is good enough to roll us for 150. Look at the other Narine - DeoNarine.

That is a bit OTT reaction...probably you know a bit less about our bowling,, but yeah, NZ will struggle a bit

Ashwin Batting avg. was 30 in Aus , if you don't know.
I like how his better technique is considered lesser to Harby.

He's the opposition, but Pujara deserves a 50 here. Has looked rock solid so far.

Ashwin the batsman >>> Harby . Kiwis getting relieved because of Harby's absence actually is not such a bad thing in my IMO.
Ashwin is also the better bowler.

ok. It looked weird in the context of the discussion that you pointed out Ashwin's batting avg!

Say Random Aussie, what're you catching it on down under? Heard a mate tell me that Fox aren't broadcasting this.

Just following it on here, but if i was to watch its not on Fox so I would have to be one of those pirates who are destroying cricket and watch it via stream.....

Craig McMillan is an awful commentator. Whoever decided to give him the mic....
