Enough of this defensive bowling from NZ. Now they should attack the stumps with the new ball.

People underestimate Rahane. Dude scored runs in South Africa on his first tour there. On the other hand, Talunted Rohit is about as reliable as a doctor in a shady motel.

He looked a good batsman to me with a good temperament. Don't know why people expect everyone to score big hundreds in their first 3-4 tests.

NZ has not bowled well at all. They were bowling wide and waiting for the new ball. NZ needs to quickly break this partnership. Dhoni is scoring too quickly.

India look pretty solid, kiwis are almost out of this.

These sorts of games are why they won't be a top 4 side anytime soon, they just can't play quality cricket against the best sides game after game.

They will look back and think they should have beat india and england at home but reality is they will have nothing to show for it, it's one thing to look good and show promise it's another to turn it into a series win.

You can say the same about Pakistan.

50 more runs would be sufficient i would assume, good knocks by Dhawan and Rahane

Useful runs by Kohli and Dhoni

If these two add another 40-50 runs then NZ is in trouble because lead will become close to 160-170 even without tails wagging here. NZ needs to get rid of Dhoni in the next 3-4 overs.

I think India are ahead but I'm not so sure about the pitch now. Granted NZ will always find a way to collapse from anywhere and the third innings collapses are our specialty.

India winning the toss has proved to be really important. The pitch is nothing like it was when the game begun.

So you expect a draw!

Pakistan get the job done at home(uae) more often though, kiwis have some real talent but reality is they rarely beat top test teams in a series even at home.

You don't get points for potential and what you could do in test cricket and reality is the kiwis just don't look comfortable and ready to close it out when they edge ahead vs a top test team.

It's annoying even from a neutral pov so it must drive you guys nuts.

nz have themselves to blame for that, said it pre game why when you're 1-0 up with 1 left to play at home would you want to turn the game into a contest decided by the flip of a coin?

especially when you have no say over the coin toss yes.

Dhoni playing sensibly here. NZ bowlers are being ineffective and he's feasting on them.

Any lead less than 150 should be considered pretty pathetic from Indians.

Hopefully jaddu contributes with a bat big time. He is more of a batsman in this test.

150 lead is plenty for first innings but you should get more than that. Enzed bowlers looking a bit toothless and their batting lineup is considerably weakened without Taylor.

In what world are you living ?

Same as your's :p

NZCricketFan was saying the pitch doesn't look anywhere close to what it was yesterday morning (implying it has turned into a belter) hence was asking him ... I think a lead of 180 would be sufficient if Ishant can bend his back for 1 last time this series + they don't have Rosco

Rahane should carry on and make it a big one. He won't get as good a chance as this one to cement his place in the XI.
NZ bowlers not looking to attack, Pitch is not a bowlers paradise anymore.

Ind : 323/6
lead by 131

Kiwis would be disappointed at not been able to win the series , they had a golden opportunity.

India caning NZ now

Why NZ commentators start complaining about toss in every game, only when India looks to be in control?

Ridiculous!! They are supposed to be neutral.

Enzed lost this Test during the morning of Day 1. If you're going to get rolled for below 200 you better have a damn good bowling attack irrespective of the wicket

MS batting like he is in an ODI which is how he should bat as it is easily his best format.

:msd faces lots of criticism on this forum , but there is no doubt he is one of the best WK of last 20 years , he has played quite a few high impact knocks.

Thats the worst bowling I've seen from NZ in this tour. Thats the stuff Indian bowling is proud of :))

How can One man be responsible for all loses ?

2 and 3 should be the best to bat. 4th day will bring the spinners into play. Proper pitch this.

His defensive captaincy abroad has been one of the reasons

As soon as opposing batsman reaches 30, he is ready to give him singles while not having any catching fielders.
He is only attacking as a captain when spinners are operating.

A lot depends on the situation in a Match , in test Matches you also have to stop runs sometimes . Then the quality of your bowlers also affect Captains decision.

I still remember the Eng series where there were no slip fielders when KP came to the crease. Eng were 43/2 and Kp edged 3 balls in the slipcordon for 4. Kp ended up scoring a 100 and resulted in India whitewash.
