What's new

New Zealand v Pakistan | 1st Test | Christchurch | Nov 17-21, 2016 | Day 2

Over analysis from NZ commentators here... they are really frustrated, they expected Pakistan to be 26/4.. they have been visibly disappointed

Lol Shanon Gabriel and Jason Holder bowled better against this pair, in UAE conditions

Expect them to cry some more if Pak does not lose a wicket in the next 10 overs. The crying will only increase as the day progresses.

Williamson has the charisma of an old bag.

NZ look lost without the legend Big Mac.

Kiwis are mentally shot. Failing on Green tracks too now.

BMac's retirement took the heart out of this team. They look more like a club level team except Williamson and Latham.

Sums up NZC atm.

This is quite a waste from Azhar...after having done all the hard work,

This should've been a 100 for Ajju, his defence was impeccable

Grandhomme only 4 wickets away from becoming another debutante legend against Pakistan :))

Now, I am confused - may be the wicket is not that easy. That ball, really jagged back from the surface.

Azhar should've stayed more focused... he tried to drive it and it went through the gate..

He looked solid for his knock

Asad not up to the fight at 3. Result two inexperienced players together.

It's like the 1st day at Edgbaston. Really disciplined batting by our openers. These 2 are excellent Test openers

Agreed. Plus this would have given him confidence going further in the tour.

Been watching for 20 mins

Boult is getting tremendous swing and so in the ground gnome guy

Why were troodon and others earlier in thread saying there's no swing lol

Younis Khan should be sent at number 7 on this pitch.

Shafiq and Misbah should be the next two batsmen.

Anyone got flashbacks of certain umar akmal in his first test in NZ when babar was coming to bat, just hope his career don't pan out like his cousin and he also has great brain and temperament and not just great talent.

They can't accept the fact that pak is doing well....

I fear that Sami might develop into a well-mannered and sane version of Shehzad.

Both strokeless wonders who are not Limited Overs material at all, but Sami has a better defense though.

Let's see where he stands after the Australian tour.

Sami has very good judgement of ball leaving which alone makes him better test Batsman than Shehzad.

I think the openers have done their job, Misbah YK and Shafiq will take it past 400 here.. there is nothing express about these bowlers,

Once the bowl gets old its gonna be very easy to bat

He's been excellent in Tests so far. Very compact against the new ball. We haven't had a better opening partnership in years. Don't care if he bats slowly.

Well the sanity part wins it for him already

Also to be fair he has a significantly superior defence.

One thing is for sure it's so much more fun to watch test match cricket on a green top than on a phatta.

Lol Mickey wants nothing to do with Hafeez. I think had a local coach been in charge, no way Babar would have been batting at 3. Slowly slowly we are seeing the Arthur affect

Babar plays with very hard hands... these edges can be deadly for him if the ball bounces more

Expect Wagner to do a Wahab. He will be fast and bowl some short balls in his spells also making use of reverse swing.
