The angle is alright, he was trying to swing the ball into Raval which wasn't working. He should just look to keep it across Raval and have him play at it.

I think, in 1st & 2nd Slip, reflex is the key - Sami was late on the ball. Rizwan is he best fielder & catcher in PAK side, who is actually wasted at point to save in total may be 10 runs in whole Day. He might not be the best WK, but I don't think PAK has any specialist 1st slipper - Sami is probably the 6th in last 6 months & dropped almost a match changing sitter. Raval is someone who would make you earn his next edge - on this track, over 250 in 1st innings, NZ'll win the Test by some margin.
 
3-2-5-1 with 2 drops, 1 edged boundary through slip & one top edged single with both dropped players at the wicket.

Looking at Sohail, probably Imran should have opened with Amir - Sohail doesn't bowl well against Leftis, while Kiwis are opening with 2.

Perhaps for the sake of continuity? Sami has been at first slip for the past couple of matches, I suppose they want him there long-term.

I recall a couple of good ones from Rizwan in the slips. One was in the 4th ODI at Leeds vs England. Roy.

And Australia have five lefties, so call up Asif or Hasan Ali!

So now Pakistan should easily win this. Bowling first in this green pitch. Can't ask for anything more here.
 
2 dropped catches already ... this has been costly more so against the Aussies in Aus ... if this trend continues it'll be a clean sweep

It's considered that if you decide to bowl, unless you go to lunch with 3 wickets, it's actually a lost morning - in first 5 overs 2 drops has made it Kiwi morning already.

Can you recall the 5 points of success in AUS?
 
How come kiwis are scoring at 2.6 on this freaking green mamba? Pak batsman would be thinking this.

Yes not dropping catches was one and 2 have already gone down here.

I was the one who would've gone with 4 pacers in this innings, 2 right armers, 2 left armers..

Rahat can be the only one dropped coz Amir is unbenchable
 
Its a good decision by the management, it will get rid of the myth that 'your best players are always on the bench'

Yeah just look at how Amir is wasting the new ball. Imran and Sohail shouldve gotten the new ball
 
It also gets rid of the myth that our team has world class new ball bowlers

3 chances in 17 balls - I think you are under estimating the Kiwis & the other 2 bowlers bowling here. We are not watching Amir playing with his schoolmates against the other school of the block .........

I'm just underestimating our ability to move the new ball.. 1 dropped catch is Amir's own fault, so he can't blame that on anyone but himself..

Now these dropped catches will be used as an excuse till the end of Australia series :)
 
Commentators talking too much about Yasir Shah here, too many whiners.. its the correct decision lol :)))
 
Raval is not Warner - he'll leave anything outside off whole day long, just on length; if required, he'll risk bowled without offering. Imran & Sohail needs to come round the wicket so that he is forced to play.
 
Man this was supposed to be a banana swinger, don't know who to blame more, pitch, bowlers or fielders? Because as of now it seems like a UAE road if you don't go by the color of pitch.

Typical overaction from Pakistan fans. How many times in a year our bowlers bowl on green tracks. Hardly anytime but when we tour SA or NZL. It does take time to adjust your line and length and most importantly your slip cordon need to great on these tracks. So I would say just give These bowlers another 20 overs lets see what happens.

For lubfra in the bucks league at the moment, back in bham it use to be for Harborne properly; but when I go back home after uni finishes usually play friendlies for highcroft

Sohail and Imran have looked like club level bowlers today compared to Amir. But hey if Imran wouldve gotten the new ball in stead of Amir, New Zealand wouldve been 5 down by now
 
Now I remember why IK was on the bench for the last two years. He should have stayed there. Seriously are there no better pacers in all of Pak than Sohail, Rahat and Imran
 
Amir should come around the wicket to Kane and the other 2 should come around the wicket to Raval

Raval was dropped at 1st slip by Aslam on the third ball of the innings

Amir then created a chance and got a wicket off the final ball of the first over

And then the drop off Williamson
 
These guys are going so fast our openers would have been looking to score their first runs right about now
