Matt Henry is the weak link, he had an off day against West Indies. Fakhar needs to attack him and lower his confidence more, can milk runs from Neesham and Collin. We've got this boys :akhtar
 
Imam needs to tuk for 50 balls atleast... need to blunt out their pace attack.
 
Nothing much in the pitch, Pak should be able to chase it.

To be fair, if you cannot chase 237 then do you really deserve a semi-final spot? It's just going to result in another thrashing by India.
 
Here is my assessment :

1) pitch has flattened out.

2) apart from the initial burst from boult, there is absolutely no threat to Pakistani batsmen. Play him out.

3) For once they need to use their brains and look to play out 50 overs. Dont take undue risks. 238 should be achieved in you look to bat out overs.

3) Imam's role will be crucial.
 
I'll be happy as long as we take this keep and don't kill our NRR.

No. It is not poor batting. Making it easy for them is where Pakistan made an error. It is brainless captaincy from Sarfaraz, Lethargic fielding from the players and preference of containment over wickets. Pakistan might win this by 10 wickets but that will be like an upset.

It is important to know ones weakness too. Knowing that Pakistan are poor chasers, NZ should have been restricted below 200.

This is in an uncertain zone for Pakistan. Below 200 would have been a more certain victory

If Pakistan wants to be a genuine contender for the World Cup, they will need to pass this test. It's simple as that.
 
Imagine what NZ would have scored if Shaheen hadn't took bowled so well today. No one else really looked anywhere near as dangerous.
 
safy bahi over think the situation and didnt buck up the bowlers but its good becaz our batsmans need more practice for the game i think we will win the game with 2-3 wickets down as babar and fakhar will score runs with imam play the sensible inngs with the right mentality all pk batsman is to stay on the wicket play 50 over they will easy chase the target in less than 40 overs
 
Need to bat sensibly we can do this how about a pinch hitter some body like Imad or Wahab to get 25 runs if we 2 wickets early
 
If 2 wickets fall early I will send Shadab with instructions to dead bat for 10 overs.

I hope I am wrong but I have a feeling a collapse is on cards.

Reason I say this is, after the phanta in the last 20 overs, self doubt has kicked in our team and they will bottle it instead of rising up.

It's a mental fight the boys have to win because sometimes, if you were winning the game half way but get troubled like we were, it can totally affect your mental power to overcome things.

If the boys can rise above that, we have a chance. If NZ hadn't collapsed at all but we had limited them to 238 in 50 overs, we would be in a different mental frame of mind.

Lets see what happens.. Hoping Pak chases this one. If they don't, then I would just tell myself we never deserved the semi-final spot anyway if we can't chase 238.
 
I missed the first innings except a few overs towards the end. How was the fielding, how many catches did we drop? (Safe to assume we will drop atleast one per game)
 
Extremely poor finish by PAK - 78/5 in 26 overs and they tripled that score in 23 overs!!!! Still game is not out of reach, but these things are happening too frequently for Sarfraz - bowlers taking early wickets and then batting side are getting away in middle & late overs.

PAK will need to bat well here to chase this in an almost elimination game & Kiwi’s fielding will make the target at least 15-20 more that what is there.

I dont think we dropped any today... some lapses in the ground fielding though.
 
this game is the one to make tthe players legend like inzi bahi he was young boy in 92 then played the match winning score so the boyus know this and mikey will tell them lecture that if someone wants to become hero this is the game so in my mind the future of pk cricket babar will play the knock for 100 century and maybe imam my second choice so good luck to the boys this is history we are going to support the boys inshallah they will win ameen

I would send Wahab after one down to score a quick fire 30, I have noticed everytime Wahab gets hit for a six he takes revenge on the opposition bowlers.
 
Fakhar should be given licence to go for the kill. If he gets off to a fast start he will kill the game.
 
Team like India or Australia would have restricted the opposition under 150 and chased it around 25 overs to wipe out negative NRR. But our team doesn't have any idea about NRR. Even by chance we win we will take it around 46-49 overs.

Not new for Pak! They did the exact same thing against BD in Asia Cup too by letting it loose after the initial bulk wickets. Easy win coming for NZ today.

Its too risky to slog of Boult and Ferguson without having proper batting technique.
 
very exciting game after a long time i see the ppl in pk come for the support of the boys this is verty diff feeling of the big game and inshallah we all make dua that pk will win also in the zuhr namaz molvi sb did the special dua for the boys so all the prayers are with the team and pk will show the world that they will win the cup like 92 world cup ameen
 
Fakhar Zaman looks pumped up and Imam is practicing for a snail start as I still don't see on screen :yk

If we win all three of our matches we could have a NRR of -100 and we will still qualify provided England lose atleast one of their last two matches. Do educate yourself before mouthing off.
 
Fakhar should let rip. Try to get this total down quickly. If he gets out imam and babar should tuk tuk til the 45th over! And let imad and safaraz finish the game!

the formula right now is i think 50/50 all depends on the open maybe first 10-15 overs critical for the winning chance of up and down but may around 80% if openers give them 100 runs partnershuip it will be important lets hope for the best
 
Pakistan not got quality of other teams. Aint able to blow teams away. They r defensive. Hence NZ were just waiting for the 2 to 3 bad balls every over... now they gonna bowl dot after dot
 
ferguson and boult will be the men here...need to play cautious against boult and see him off without too much problems
 
It is a slow pitch see how easily Imam played that short ball.... just see off new ball and we will win.
 
New ball is key here for both teams. PAK needs to be ahead of asking in first 10-12 overs.
 
soeme good signs as the ball is coming straight so the boys will eassily bat and stay on the wicket imam looks v confident so i think he will score the century as the nz bowler look under pressure u can see that henry bowler is trying his best to bowl fast and swing byt ball is coming straight to bat very easy batting inshallah pakistan will win ameen
