It couldn't get any better. I just came to Germany for X'mas holiday 3 days ago. Celebrated X'mas with my family 'n friends here. And now there is a Test match starting from 11.00 pm in local time. Wow :) Merry X'mas to y'all from Bonn, Germany !!! :hug

Fabulous job by the Christchurch folks after the natural calamities. Every time I go there, it just never fails to amaze me.

Now on to steamrolling the FTBs. :rosco

Can someone explain to me why Henry and Milne are not in the test squad?

Add one of those 2 to Boult & Southee and your pace attack is box office.

So why relative trundlers like Wagner and Bracewell?

Its actually not that green. If NZ play out the first hour well, they will have nullified the advantage SL got with the toss.

Tk making his debut. This is really positive from SL.

Never heard of Henry but I reckon Milne would break in a Test match.

Milne is probably another 2 seasons away I reckon, he hasn't played much first cricket at all and there's probably a worry on whether his body can hold up for 5 days. Henry will probably be around the squad in a year or so.

Who prepared this pitch? The bowlers are slipping at the crease. Is that a new trick to get the opposition bowlers injured ? :mv

embarrassing for christchurch right now. looks like an amateur has prepared the track

Henry bowled very well in UAE. Was bowling around 140K in all spells and had the ability to move the ball. The best thing about his bowling was.. he pitched it up and allowed the ball to swing.

Has had a great start. Averaging 3 wickets per odi

Not at all. Bowlers should try to land on the flat part of their foot.

these guys have bowled around the world and i have never seen them slip. it wasnt just one guy but both have slipped.

just poor standards, i hope it improves as the series moves on.

He has already taken 50 Test wkts , clearly without your advices. It seems the guy who prepared the track hasn't got a brain at all.

You don't need 50 wickets to know if you land on the side of your boot you will likely slip over. Its not advice its common sense but not all are common around here i guess.

I see bowlers slip on hard pitches all the time when they don't land correctly. The groundsman has roughed the area for the bowlers now anyway.

Hagley has been good for big scores in first class but has also produced results in every match its been used.

Dude, it wasn't bowler's fault coz both Lakmal 'n Eranga slipped. Stop trying to be so defensive. That curator has obviously no common sense. That's why he had left too much grass behind the crease.

Would of loved to see Southee and Boult take the new ball on this surface. Should turn into a good batting wicket fairly quickly.

I didn't see Lakmals but it was definitely Erangas fault the way he landed and he hasn't been to this part of the world so he probably wasn't expecting it. Not being defensive just stating the facts because thats what the pitches are like here.

It was the first delivery of the game

There is no ground in the world where you will land well if you land with the foot upside down

it's common sense to not have so much grass on behind the crease. obviously this curator is an amateur. poor preparation for the first test in christchurch after almost a decade. sad.

Cricinfo showing Kane Willimason is the captain even though Brendon is playing, is this correct?

The pitch is covered in grass. Bowlers all around NZ bowl on far worse than that and they don't slip over.

Just poor technique from Eranga.

it was grassier behind the crease

the guy messed up and embarrassed the city, stop trying to defend two international slipping in the first over. it was amateurish but the city will learn.

embarrassed the city?

Starting to dislike Sri Lankan cricket fans

nz really have a poor test record when u consider they have been around something like 80 years in the sport. they have 10 wins to sl's 10 wins..that is awful.

Its the citys fault now?

Sorry but we won't take the blame for shoddy bowling technique. The field is covered in grass too. Im surprised the players can stand up right out there. Its clearly a hazard.

it's the biggest thing to happen in christchurch in like a decade.

starting to dislike fans from a whole nation because u can't get along with a couple? wow, generalize much?

You need to take a deep breath and think about what you post sometimes.

1st half hour of first session and already fans are crying.

I thought only Indian fans do that.

Just seen the replays again. If you have your landing foot sideways like that you would slip over on a rubber shower mat.

Are you alright ??

I was talking about using the brain. Guess you need to have one in the first place to understand it.

Yes but how would he use the brain on the pitch? does it help the surface stay abrasive?

Well, not sure if its something in the water. If that's the case, you 'n the curator must have drunk water from the same spring. No wonder why this city hasn't got a game for so long.

Lovely delivery by Lakmal. Gotta pitch it full.

Typical knock by Rutherford. Looks great for a bit then gets out. Time for a new opener.
