What's new

New Zealand vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Saxton Oval | Jan 9, 2018 | New Zealand Innings

For some reason Ashraf always troubles choto... he got edge last match... this match he beat him once or twice and finally picked up wicket

Get rid of Guptill and Taylor and match is effectively won

Old legs in now, if we can stop the easy singles pressure will increase immensely

Shadab is probably first world class fielder we have, took us 70 years 🙄

This Pakistani team has potential to do wonders as shown in CT 17. Give it year or so and it will go to another level.

Injuries did raise some issues in this series for Sarfaraz, Junaid, Imad, Shinwari and now Zaman

Pakistanis are after Amir like anything, he is still lot fitter than everybody else, and bowls 10k faster... Usman, Junaid, Raees all got unfit while bowling at 130s

Your posts are incredibly lame, at some level deep down you must know that surely.

My apologies bro, I should take posting on a commentary thread on a public Internet forum much more seriously.

Feel free to add me to your ignore list, it would be an honor.

Shinwari was bowling around 145, you can check highlights against SRL

Very good lines by hassan and Ashraf. Amir was good too but unfortunately Raees looks a bit under pressure or out of rythm

Guptill is gonna go after Shadab so there will always be a chance

Why we are not using spinners??

Out of all people their spinners killed us

You mean spinner, Shadab. Its highly unlikely that Malik will bowl against Right handers Guptill and Tayloe

Fazul baqwas... matches should only be held in the subcontinent... when we have summer WE HAVE SUMMER... none of this rain everyday shenanigans

Barish has come in in favour of NZ. Outfield will quicken up if and when play continues. In the words of Jim Ross this one could be a "shlobber knocker" :))

We are missing Imad in this series.

Yes we are missing 4 key players, Junaid, Imad, Sinwari and Fakhar (who is atleast part of the squad). Though these pitches dont suite maddy as he didnt perform well here when we last toured.

I guess Junaid and Imad will be back for T20s.

Part of me wants the cracks of the team exposed and the bad eggs dropped, the other wants us to win.

So I'm neutral on this stoppage.

Really hoping overs are not reduced as a revised target will not work in our favour

I think we have been comprehensively unlucky every single time we have toured NZ recently. If there is a rain break, it's always there when we don't need it. If there's a marginal umpiring decision, it goes in the favor of NZ.

It may be small event but Trent Boult bowled two beamers in an over. One wasn't called, had it been called, that would have ensured that he wouldn't bowl his remaining overs and it could have resulted in extra 10-15 runs. Mind u, the first free hit would have been faced by Hasan who can hit it well.

Even now, the ball was kinda drying up and the pitch was slowing and down comes the rain and clears whatever advantage that we were building.

They are a good team and they are playing excellent cricket but there is a lot of luck that is currently going their way.

What is said is the ultimate truth but it still doesn't change the fact that our top order needs a massive overhaul. Had they performed better we might have been in a better position.

Pouring says my cousin in nzland. Cant expect much or any cricket for the rest of the day. Thats it.

I think that we need a better top order but also some luck would do in handy.

We lost the last series there after a clear cut tragic rain break and an umpiring howler and it seems that this series is going that same way.

Please.

Hasan Ali was lucky not to be out early in his innings, he nicked the ball but no one appealed. You're not defending 240 either way against a team that bats deep. So we could have been easily been chasing under 200.

Pakistani's like to bring up dropped catches and half chances but fail to look at when NZ, a superior fielding side did the same.

It's embarrassing really, you're not winning these games either way.

The rain Gods always favour NZ. Today looks like it will be no exception.

Kinda had a feeling that you'd jump into it with your recent wave of optimism. Not appealing and getting a wrong decision are two different things.

And I never said we are winning this game.

I just said that we aren't lucky.

You make your own luck, Pakistan have been shooting themselves in the foot with their poor fielding. It's not like NZ have been perfect in the field either, we've dropped catches that you'd expect them to take. For Pakistan, you know they're going to drop a couple of chances because that's their level in the field. Sarfraz is known as a poor keeper, we also have a makeshift keeper who has been making errors but has taken the chances that have come is way, if he drops one, it won't be unexpected because it's expected from a makeshift/average keeper.

Yes, instead of nurdling their way to 2-0, we'll have to score something like 50 off 5 to win. That is if we have a game... the rain has saved Pakistan from 2-0 and kept them in the series.

Should we be beating NZ in their own conditions? What's so embarrassing?

The game is still alive, no need to get offended because of that.

Dropped catches or half chances weren't even mentioned in the post. Poor luck in this case is defined as factors outside the control of Pakistan which garbage umpiring and poor weather are.
