What's new

New Zealand vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Saxton Oval | Jan 9, 2018 | New Zealand Innings

You make your own luck, Pakistan have been shooting themselves in the foot with their poor fielding. It's not like NZ have been perfect in the field either, we've dropped catches that you'd expect them to take. For Pakistan, you know they're going to drop a couple of chances because that's their level in the field. Sarfraz is known as a poor keeper, we also have a makeshift keeper who has been making errors but has taken the chances that have come is way, if he drops one, it won't be unexpected because it's expected from a makeshift/average keeper.

Yes exactly, a wrong decision by the umpire is something that a player definitely makes up. Adorable. Anyway Amandeep ji, have a good day.

What's embarrassing is the excuses that keep coming when you're losing.

What do you think about NZ chances in upcoming WC? Still 18 months, but I wanna see it from an NZ perspective.

The game is still alive, no need to get offended because of that.

Far from it, NZ just need one partnership to kill the game. This is 180 they're chasing, not 280.

Worst case scenario they get there with 3-4 wickets in hand.

We're not winning it, there are several better sides and we always fight above our weight before meeting one of them.

In LOIs we're strong at home and can only really be beat by the likes of SA, Aus, England and India i.e. professional outfits with multiple world class match winners.

What are you on about?

You're talking about luck when it's been 50-50 when it comes to decisions and chances.

What? Rain here to save NZ AGAIN!?

You have got to be kidding me.

Correct. Two more tickets and we would be into the tail. Plus, NZ are quite a soft bunch. Don't have big hearts and would easily give in with Pak. all over them.

Idk if this is right, but according to this, we'd be ahead after 14 overs.

After 20 overs we'd need 95 if we lost another wicket.

81 with 2 wickets.

Its going to be a washout.
Ugh.. would have been great chance to get a good lead in the series.

If this is a washout, it means its very easy to get a drawn series and Pakistan would need to win all 3 to win the series. Assuming no other games are washed out.

Thanks for letting me know. I am going to bed then. Good night folks:babar

Probably the worst country to play cricket. Small grounds, horrible weather, poor crowd, bias broadcasting...
At least we get to see international cricket played here. I guess that's something.

Atleast Pakistan still gets more test and ODI Cricket compared to NZ inspite of not being able to play at home.

Thats a pretty low post, you need to calm down because you are coming across as a pretty petty individual right now.

So speaking the truth is all the sudden seen as "getting smart"?
What's factual

- Pakistan not being able to play international cricket at home and USA getting no quality international cricket

- NZ having horrible weather, poor crowds and bias broadcasting.

Great for them, you don't see me crying about it because my team is getting beat.

So it's fine for others to critcize my country, but when I state fact it's too low?

Just a bit of success in NZ's insignificant cricketing history and these NZ posters end up behaving bigger than their boots.

A bit of success lmao? We know our role and level. We're far from world beaters, but we're not walk overs like at home like Pakistani's think we are. Better sides will beat us, Pakistan are not a better side. They may rise to the occassion and beat us in world tournaments because they're a superior tournament side, but when it comes to this level, we should beat you more often than not.

The rain has subsided to a drizzle in Nelson!
Umpires are out having a look. We need to get on in the next hour to have a game. 6 overs need to be completed. Stay tuned #NZvPAK

NZ has done squat apart from the Mccullum era and its only a matter of time before you return to the prior form. Pakistan had a very good record of beating NZ in NZ for a long time.

New Zealand Cricket are tweeting that the rain has thinned down to a drizzle. The umpires will inspect. Play will have to begin within the next hour for a result.

I don't care, I'm more realistic about our ability and level than most here are about Pakistan's.

You're something like 8-2 against us, with two of those wins coming in the UAE against a B/C team in the UAE.

We're not world beaters, but I take pride in the way we've performed at home.

even though these bilaterals are insignificant but i still believe that Pak has had the better of nz most of the times.

Overall - yes.

Of late, I think we've beaten you everywhere (ICC tournaments, ODI's, Tests etc.).

So in your eyes saying that a country has bad weather is the same as celebrating that a country is plaqued with terrorism?

Like India :yk :D :)))

That wasn't intended... apologies if it came off like that. It was made in haste after being triggered =\

if play resumes, Amir & Hasan should bowl 3 overs a piece as we have 6 overs to get more wickets to increase the DL score in case the rain interrupts again. Sarfaraz must be thinking about wickets if they get back on the field right now.

Rain has stopped completely and works are being carried out in order to maintain ground conditions.

which icc tournament, Pakistan has always been one of the best sides when it comes to icc tournaments. Apart from WC15 Nz's performance has been pretty insignificant and Pakistan's very good.
We will comfortably beat NZ in UAE and will give a tough fight in NZ

Overall, I think Pakistan are ahead 53 to 43 I think.

It's okay mate. Just some sledging from behind the keyboard.

I'm quite good at it. :cr7

You need some work though. :messi

Sorry about it =\

Tried to come up with something witty, but came out all wrong.

I agreed mate... you guys are better than Indian ....
I'm realistic about what we can achieve. The odds are NZ will never win a WC in my lifetime. It's going to take a miracle or finding 5-6 world class players, which is unlikely with the small talent pool we have.

Good idea. Did not think of that. Depends on rain forecast. Also depends on the amount of overs lost.

NZ are #1 T20 side. So they have a chance at 2020 WC.

But you need more modern pacers. Boult, Southee, etc. always get smashed in the shorter format.

Get someone of the caliber of Gul, Malinga, Bravo, etc. and you have a chance.

Also middle-order needs some more fire-power.

Does anybody know by any chance how many runs New Zealand and Pakistan would need to score and defend, respectively, in these 6 overs to win?

I think target will be really easy and NZ will win it easy, may be 160 in 30 over or something
