What's new

New Zealand vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Saxton Oval | Jan 9, 2018 | New Zealand Innings

Waqar, shut up please. Why do all our ex-players become wrist slitting desi aunties after one or two games.

This was a great batting wicket.

NZ were going to walk 240.

They've already scored 150 with little trouble.

Pakistani bowlers have failed in these two matches spectacularly

Fact is its really difficult to beat NZ at home.

India won CT 13 and came here to lose 4-0 in ODIs, one was washed out.

So its not like our team is bad, its just NZ is really good in LOIs especially in their on backyard.

It was not a wash out. The match was tied , with India leveling the score of 315.

However, the fact remains, Nz are a very good side with a balanced bowling attack.

They even gave lot of scare to full strength India side in India in ODIs recently, something which few teams can do.

The target being reduced from 246 to 151 made a big difference, 1-2 big overs wrecked the confidence of the bowling and fielding unit, no excuses, we have been poor in all departments this series. Rumman Raees needs to be benched.

151 for 2 after 23.

Try again.

Hardly a cake walk. Pitch was dry with 180 runs and all the bowlers overs still available. Becomes a totally different game when you give Guptill the licence to blindly slog on a moist pitch with a wet ball and only 4 fielders allowed outside the circle. No better example of that is that's before the rain break Hasan had conceded 3 runs in 2 overs but in the 2 overs after he got smashed.

Yes, NZL were favourites but let's not use 8 exhibition overs to extrapolate what the chase could've been.

Would have , could have
Babar was given horrible decision yesterday on way flatter wicket, Was he going to get a hundred . No one knows

Same with NZ walking 240, the wicket was drying out and becoming double paced. Hasan Ali had given 3 runs off his tight first two overs and NZ middle order hasnt really been tested this summer.

This 150 isnt same at all , totally different match situation and you know it

Like i said 2 big overs ended the match. When the target is smaller and when the team has wickets in hand, it makes a big difference.

Australia toured NZ in 2016-17 and lost the ODI series 2-0 (One was washed)

India last toured in 2013-14 and lost the ODI series 4-0 (One was washed)

the only recent team to beat NZ in NZ is SA which won 3-2

So chill guys its not like our team is bad, but yes its a young team and give it year or two and it will have the potential to do exceptional things as the glimpses were showed in CT17.

Performances against Sri Lanka made the team look stronger than it was tbh. Rumman Raees's true level being exposed here. Can't believe there were no back up pacers in the squad.

Guptill just said it here, they were watchful after losing a few wickets and Pakistan were bowling good lines. Let's not forget how Pakistans tail fared on this wicket. It was a good wicket and with wickets in hand this would have been a walk within 45 overs.

It’s not a young team. Hafeez Malik and yes Azhar are older than 30.

those guys took their defeats, you didn't hear one excuse after another. Funnily enough they've fared s lot better than Pakistan have here.

3 players or may be add Sarfaraz cant hide the fact the all else are under 28 in the squad. I dont know what team you consider young but according to me its a young team, you can have a look at the average ages of other teams.
