Only hope is Babar is pushed to open and Haris is slotted in at three.

Yes, I am hopeful that I will be able to get a good night sleep now.

The only thing I am interested in is finding out if they drop any of the seniors, Hafeez preferably.

If the management is going to do any out of the box thinking then I would suggest opening with Faheem and selecting Yamin as a lower order hitter. While Harris in for Hafeez.

Opening with Babar wont improve much.

If i was management i’d play:

Azhar
Faheem (pinch hit)
Babar
Haris
Sarfraz
Malik
Yamin
Shadab
Hasan
Amir
Rumman

Now that's the team I'd stay awake to watch. Somebody should tweet this @PCB

The saving grace for Azhar and Imam as that Saxton Oval has smaller boundaries so that should encourage them to swing for the fences.

With no Fakhar, we need a huge effort from the bowlers to restrict NZ's powerful batting lineup.

Last thing we need is for the openers to swing from the hips. They need to keep wickets for the lower order who can do this job in the last 15.

Last ODI here Bangladesh were skittled for 239 and NZ chased this with ease.

320 has to be par here.

Our lower order certainly has fire power... Shadab, Fahim and Hasan are all competent hitters. The question is.. will the turtles in the top order give them enough time to have an impact (or they may give them too much time which isn't good either lol)

Why would you bat first on a cold damp morning..

Another headache : who will bowl Fakhar's three overs this time around?

I suggest senior player Shoaib Malik steps up and put his bowling skills to an use.

Pakistan are batting first so hide behind the sofa or under the duvet covers (depending on your time zone).

For the love of god can we get somewhere near 300.

Bhai jaan ap tou sonay ja rahay thay :yk

Losing Fakhar is a massive blow. Lets see what Imam can do. A lot of support on PP for him; time to deliver.

According to cricinfo

"There is some lovely, sunny weather in Nelson too. So win the toss and bat your way towards 300. Toss and team news in a bit."

Happy to see us bat first for a change.

I think we will score over 300 here today, nice ground to feast on :inzi

Cricbuzz says something completely different:

"There is a fair bit of moisture, so the first hour will see the ball zipping around. The team winning the toss is likely to bowl first, since their strengths lie in fast bowling, barring any instinctive whims of the captains."

Bhai ODI cricket has changed. You can't leave all the hitting to the last 15 overs anymore like the 90s.

You have to go hard in the first 10 overs like Guptill and Munro do - or like we did in the CT Final.

After that you can consolidate, then treat the last 20 overs as a T20.

Cricinfo > Cricbuzz.

So undroppable Hafeez and Inzi’s man Azhar still in the team. Feel sorry for Haris. Hope those 2 fail again.

National Treasure still in playing XI, oh God why I am still gonna sacrifice my sleep to watch this Crap unfold. Rip Merit

Lol sahi fraudiye hain yeh log.

Doesn't matter if we at first or second, southee and bolt will go through us with ease.

Kiwis are too strong at home for us

This fear of chasing is nauseating - this Nelson ground is one of the smallest & flattest even in NZ standard, and it's a day game with chances of little shower later. Why on earth someone should bat first with that sort of batting depth?

Last match, it went wrong because of poor catching & bowling (with new ball), followed by horror show with bat against new ball - not because the call was wrong. I see PAK heading to same direction for 1992 WC SF - top 3 would try to reach 150 in 35 overs (because of swing, seem, cut, bounce, pace .....) and then expectation is 170 in last 15 overs. Still won't work, if it's a sunny day - should have chased today, that wicket wasn't 40-5 wicket, one has to bat well batting first or 2nd.

Ahh... 6 accumulators jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head

What can you do - somehow, though the iron fingers of Ul Haq, one hack made it to Kiwi land, and then he bumped his leg ......

Have a feeling Azhar Ali will score a century today, he really isn't as bad as people make him out to be.

PAK'll lose inside 40 overs then - let's call it now. We did won in 38 overs, when he scored a hundred at Mirpur ......

We have to play the first 10 overs carefully. 40-45 runs without any wickets would be ideal.

Seems overcast. If so it's gonna be tough facing Southee bhai in these conditions:shadab.

Won't be able to watch today's game as I have work tommorw inshallah we win. See you guys tommorw . Enjoy the game. Inshallah I'll return to PP and be posting about a Pakistan victory.

This has to be the most boring and dull opening pair I have ever seen, no offence.

Pak will claw to 30-2 after 10 over. Build a little partnership and eventually ao for 180

Haan bhai poora over leave karde... abhi tou paanch din baqi hain

I can't believe I m all awake at 3:30 for azhar and imam! Recipe for disaster

Fakhar out, ball is swinging, what could possibly go wrong ?
