New Zealand's impressive record in Tests at home since 2012

Newzealand haven't lost a single test at home since 2016/17 series against Sa 😯

They're a fantastic team.

Coupled with results like the defeat of Pakistan in the UAE, they are the rightful #1 at the moment.

Good performance, their best ever team. They have also drawn test series in Sri Lanka and England.

Not directed at OP but when subcontinent teams win at home, they are called home track bullies. When SENA teams do it, they are praised.

Last 5 years, NZ has a poorer away W/L than India, Australia, SL, and England. They really need to do more away from their home.

Looking at this chart in the OP, it does seem like a huge advantage being able to play the quantity of these home games as the big five are playing.

Having a home season on a consistent basis helps improve the standard of your cricket and cricketers. Pakistan are very much on the back foot but here's hoping South Africa can kick start us in the right direction again.

Well obviously India wins on doctored pitches but when it comes to SENA Country they had played on fair pitches.
#Fact is Ashwin & Jadeja is a deadlist combo you have to face when you come to India, if you are able to negate them Umesh,Bumrah,Ishant,Shami are waiting to have a piece of you on Indian pitches.

I agree with this, NZ are original HTBs. Willismson too has a great record against minnows & not too great against top ranked teams. They need to get out of their flatbread tracks & win more games elsewhere.

Can you please post the table for away record as well for the big 5. (2012-2020)

Hmm...there might be something to this.

in Australia: 42.84
in India: 35.45
in England: 30.87
in South Africa: 21.16

That's pretty mediocre.

NZ have started to follow the Indian pattern of being a bully at home first and then look to be competitive away. Look at the record of their most players.

Kane and Ross both have poor away record. Latham and Nicholls are also pretty good at home but average away.

The bowlers, Boult and Southee average over 30 with the bowl.

India are clearly better than him and perhaps Australia too. NZ are deserving no.3 though.

That's what almost every team is doing, including SA and England.

But its usually the sub-continent teams that get ridiculed for their pitches and superior home records of their players.

NZ is a 1/5th of the size of Mumbai and cricket isn't even the second most popular sport in the country.

Ah the double edge sword comes out. India does well you can use this argument. And if they do bad then we know the response. LoL so ordinary and predictable

Couple things

1) should include neutral venues as NZ has won 3 games to 2 defeats in the UAE in that period.

2) NZ only really become a good side starting in 2014. They were a rabble in 2012 (lost 5 games in a row at one point) and were still missing a couple of key ingredients in 2013 (Latham in particular hadn’t made his debut at that point).

Account for these two factors and NZ are middle of the pack with Pakistan, India and Australia having superior away records while England, SA, SL and WI have worse records.

I read on cricinfo the last team to be NZ at home was South Africa, SA line up wasn’t that strong . Yet they are the last team to beat NZ at home in tests. And certain Pakistan fans have the nerve to predict the bereavement of South African cricket.
