Who is stopping you, J&K CM Omar Abdullah asks Centre on taking back PoK. Jaishankar forgot to mention Gilgit and Baltistan, adds Congress’s Manish Tewari

New Delhi: Hours after External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that the Kashmir issue will be “solved” only once the “stolen part of Kashmir” under illegal occupation of Pakistan is returned to India, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said when the Indian government will bring the portion which is with Pakistan it should also bring back those parts of J&K that are with China. Abdullah questioned why the government focuses only on PoK while ignoring Chinese control over parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Go ahead, who is stopping you? China also has a part, bring that back too,” Abdullah said in the Assembly Thursday.

“One portion is with Pakistan and today the foreign minister has said they will bring back the portion of Kashmir (controlled by Pakistan). Did we ever stop them? If you (central government) can bring it back, then do it now… when the Kargil War happened what did we get? You had an opportunity to bring back (PoK) at that time … why didn’t you… Doesn’t matter … bring it back today. Who among us will say don’t bring it back,” he said.

Abdullah added, “When you see the map of J&K you see that one portion is with Pakistan, but another is with China, why doesn’t anyone talk about that? Please do us a favour … when you bring that portion (which is with Pakistan) also bring the one that is with China.”

Omar’s remarks appear to be a reference to Shaksgam valley, which Pakistan ceded to China in 1963 as part of a border agreement. India still considers the Shaksgam valley a part of Indian territory.

Speaking at The Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) in London, Jaishankar said that normalcy would return to Kashmir once Pakistan returns “the stolen part of Kashmir, which is under illegal Pakistani occupation”.

Reacting to Jaishankar’s remarks, JKNC leader Tanvir Sadiq told ThePrint, “Anyone who thinks that scrapping Article 370 erased the sentiments in J&K is living in an illusion.

If resolving the issue were that simple, we wouldn’t still be having this conversation. And if the Government of India believes reclaiming PoK is within its reach, let’s see action, not just rhetoric. Empty slogans won’t change the ground reality.”

Omar knows the answer to the questions he has raised. But he will ask as though he cares about who controls the land. He and his dad are happy as long as they are the boss of Indian part of Kashmir. (y)

BJP/RSS previously stated they will take back Kashmir and so did @cricketjoshila . Is this a policy shift, leave it to Pakistan to hand back. Does he believe this will actually happen? lol

May Kashmir be fully liberated from Indian grip.

China can liberate it in less than a week if they try. :inti

Not too long ago, @Rajdeep confidently claimed that India had moved on from the Kashmir issue and wasn't interested in reclaiming the remaining territory from Pakistan. Now, with Jaishankar expressing a desire to get the other side of Kashmir, I can't help but wonder what's @Rajdeep going to say now? :kp :inti

I asked this question in another thread when this Jaishankar fellow was claiming that Pakistan was illegally occupying Kashmir which was territory of India. If Indians believe that then they must be the most cowardly nation on earth to allow a much smaller neighbour like Pakistan to hold it for 70 years.

Being scared to take on China is understandable, they are a powerful nation, but quite shameful to allow little Pakistan to thumb their noses constantly and claim your territory.

Just shows how noob Congress is in politics and how some posters lack India's POV in disputed regions.
India considers the so called Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan as Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Someone should inform Congress' Mr. Tiwari and non-Indian posters can learn our perspective here :)

Silly question na?

How exactly you want India to take Pakistan Occupied Kashmir from Pakistan? You want India to do a Vladimir Putin on Pakistan is it? Not sure if you guys even think before posting such hilarious posts.

Pakistan is a fanatical rogue army state with nuclear power. India cant go into a contemporary war with Pakistan to annex Kashmir as it poses many threats
like international sanctions, nuclear threats, recession etc. All the progress India has made over the years will go down the drain. So war is not the solution.

However, the way Pakistan is going with political instability, poor economy and multiple uprisings....I think the country will be broken down into multiple pieces in future. That will give India the only chance to get the PoK.

Why are you asking this question to @Cpt. Rishwat? You should direct this question to BJP and Jaishankar instead. :inti

You didn't respond, instead, you started deflecting with counter-questions, lol. Just admit it's just another jumla by the Bhartiya Jumla Party. They simply don't have what it takes to reclaim the remaining Kashmir. :inti

Na kar yaar Viru...not in a mood tonight. I have already responded what I had to say in this thread.

The nuclear threat won't wash. That didn't stop your army sending fighter jets across the border to attack Pakistan territory unprovoked, before being confronted by Pak airforce and being chased back into India. Your govt talks the talk but definitely doesn't walk the walk.
