Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated once again. Historically, India has refused bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan due to security concerns and political tensions. Now, with calls for a stronger stance, will the BCCI and Indian government completely refuse to play Pakistan in all tournaments, including ICC and ACC events?

This issue, steeped in both sporting rivalry and national sentiment, could reshape future engagements between the two nations.

Those Responsible Will Pay": Gautam Gambhir Leads Cricketers' Reactions To Pahalgam Attack

Former and current players of the Indian Cricket Team, along with national team head coach Gautam Gambhir, expressed their sorrow and anguish over the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh took to his official media handle and said that he was "deeply saddened" after coming across the terror attack news in J&K. "Deeply saddened by the attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Praying for the victims and for the strength of their families. Let us stand united in hope and humanity," Yuvraj Singh wrote on X.

Former cricketers Irfan Pathan and Virender Sehwag were some of the other players who expressed their thoughts on this horrific incident.

"Every time an innocent life is lost, humanity loses. It's heartbreaking to see and hear about what happened in Kashmir today. I was just there a couple of days ago -- this pain feels too close," Irfan Pathan expressed.

"Deeply pained to hear of the reprehensible terrorist attack on innocent tourists in #Pahalgam. My heart goes out to those who have lost their loved ones. Prayers for the injured,' Virender Sehwag wrote in a post on X.

Men in Blue vice-captain Shubman Gill and right-hand wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul also took to X and prayed for the families of the victims.

"Heartbreaking to hear about the terrorist attack in Kashmir. My thoughts are with the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength," KL Rahul said.

"Heartbreaking to hear about the attack in Pahalgam. My prayers are with the victims and their families. Violence like this has no place in our country," Shubman Gill stated.

In a post on X, Indian Team head coach Gautam Gambhir wrote, "Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike."

The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a search operation in the general area of Baisran, Pahalgam, Anantnag, to nab the perpetrators of the attack. The Delhi Police has also been instructed to keep a close watch on tourist places and other important places.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security meeting with all the agencies following the Pahalgam terror attack. Minister Shah arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday evening for a security review meeting. He said earlier that those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a briefing meeting at the Palam Airport, on his arrival from Saudi Arabia, with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other officials, in view of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam.

PM Modi arrived in the national capital, cutting short his state visit to Saudi Arabia, following the terrorist attack. PM Modi was on a two-day State visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

I am done with Indian Cricket team and following them.. and BCCI as well.
No more cricket for me. Because I know what will happen.. It will be few days of mourning, and then few days of all talk and no action. Then there will be lovey dovey videos with Pakistan players during the Asia Cup or World cup.. and then talk of "ham saare eko i hain ji"...
Done with all these nonsense. The image of the young lady with her husbands dead body is still haunting me.

Will you still watch IPL?

Anyone who is associated with the PSL should not get any deals in the IPL or IPL owned franchises (SA20, ILT20, MLT20, Hundred) in any capacity whatsoever.

No Pakistan in the Asia Cup or T20 WC.

These are very doable things and should be implemented post-haste.

Sad what’s happened, but India should look at their consistently failing intelligence services rather than take the easy way out and start crying about big bad Pakistan again. For all the talk of progress in their country, their intelligence personnel are incompetent on a different level altogether.

Not like this can't happen also.

And Indian intelligence agencies are doing a lot of good work as exemplified by all the unknown gunmen killings in Pakistan and BLA/TTP shenanigans.

Don't worry. This will be paid back with interest.

Exactly, @Major has exposed you hypocrites on this forum quite well since yesterday.

You can pay back with interest by shooting down a bunch of trees or birds all you want, but cricketers have no role in this and actively asking for innocent people losing their livelihoods is sick and demented too. Then again, it’s hypocrisy is a trait thats best reserved for your lot so this isn’t surprising.

With all due respect.

No. What's the point of watching any sport? The joy of supporting BCCI is finished for me. They are too corporate and money minded it seems to milk money off Pakistan. To hell with them and Indian Cricket Team.

Yeah the BLA train hijack was trees and birds. Expect similar trees and birds.

Pakistan cricket has hastened it's downfall (not that it is anything right now).

Complete boycott from global leagues, destroy the PSL - turn them into pariahs.

Pehalgam attack?

Seriously? 12 people died and this is a major concern that cricketing ties should be stopped?

During the Balochistan train hijacking more than 60 people died. Some figures were in 100, shouldnt that be enough for us not to play with india?

Like seriously, 12 indian die who entered a disputed territory for a vacation and this thread came up. But when 100 Pakistanis die, no such concerns?

Seems like Pakistani life isnt valued

BCCI will now do everything in their power to further isolate Pakistan cricket. That is the only thing they can do with respect to cricket terms. Further retaliation will be done by Govt. of India but that need not be discussed in a cricket forum.

Strong personal inclinitaion that Asia Cup T20 could be cancelled. No Ind vs Pak in T20 World cup as well.

If Ind refuses to play Pak in ICC tourneys, those are just easy points going the drain for Ind.
Pakistan cricket team is after all a proper minnow in all formats

The common man needs to realize , our voice barely matters.
Profitable global ventures won’t stop just because Pakistan is involved.
Outrage, movies, cricket, silence — the cycle continues.
No strong stand, no economic cutoff.
And let’s be real — the bigger enemies are within our own borders.
Without bold action, nothing changes.
Those who can’t accept this harsh truth — fate will hit you sooner or later.
Today it’s someone you know, tomorrow it might be you.

Lol, what is there left to isolate Pakistan from?

Also, BCCI is too greedy and money-hungry to not have India play Pakistan in ICC tournaments/Asia Cups. Maybe you are forgetting that the people making the most money from this match are Indian sponsors and broadcasters.

@Devadwal the front foot journalist getting lots of abuse in social media and YouTube channel for visiting Pakistan during Champions trophy

I agree that Asia cup wil llikely be cancelled.

Also thanks for not revealing GOI plans for future retaliation on the cricket forum. It's not the place to release national secrets for someone with your level of security clearance.

'Stop Playing Cricket with Pakistan'

India's sporting community is seething with grief and fury following the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead and several others injured.

As the nation mourns, some of the country’s most celebrated athletes have not only condemned the attack but also called for decisive action—both on the ground and in the realm of sports diplomacy. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the bloodshed, prompting athletes like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Shreevats Goswami to speak out—some demanding an immediate and total severing of sporting ties with Pakistan.

"The affected families must be going through an unimaginable ordeal - India and the world stand united with them at this dark hour, as we mourn the loss of lives and pray for justice," Tendulkar wrote.

"Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for their cruel act," Kohli posted on his Instagram.

Similar sentiments were expressed by other top players such as Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav.

Former India cricketer Shreevats Goswami wrote a strongly-worded post, demanding an end to all sporting ties with Pakistan.

"And this is exactly why I say - you don't play cricket with Pakistan. Not now. Not ever. When BCCI or the government refused to send India to the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, some had the audacity to say, 'Oh, but sport should rise above politics'," Goswami wrote.

"...murdering innocent Indians seems to be Pakistan's national sport and India should respond with zero tolerance and not with bats and balls," he added.

While India has not played bilateral cricket with Pakistan since 2012–13, and the BCCI declined to send its team for the Champions Trophy earlier this year, other Indian teams have continued to travel to Pakistan for international events.

Goswami, who had recently visited Pahalgam, said he had sensed hope and peace returning to the valley.

"And now... this bloodshed again. It breaks something inside you. It makes you question how many more times we're expected to stay silent, stay "sporting," while our people die. No more. Not this time," he added.

An "outraged" Olympic bronze medal-winning boxer and ruling BJP member Vijender Singh also called for firm "action".

"Our brave soldiers will definitely give a befitting reply to this cowardly attack in the coming times. In the presence of the brave sons of Mother India, the plans of those who want to disturb the peace in Jammu and Kashmir will never succeed," he asserted.

No need to go that far...

Just make a bollywood movie seeking revenge from pakistan and then it will be all square

This poster commented about Balochistan breaking away from Pakistan and beating us in ICC tournaments during the terrorist attacks there.

I wonder if he will make a similar suggestion in light of recent issues:kp

Yeah. Breaking Pakistan is the solution to this.

In a few days, retaliation will come and it will come hard.

Just be ready for it.

Thanks for your detailed insights :kp

You also told us that there is a railway in Kashmir so the problem is solved :kp

Btw once you break Pakistan will it end the saimayub era too or is he free to play cricket for someone else?

Don't worry.

Kashmiri muslims are going to enjoy some solutions over the coming days.

The same bravado is shown over and over when an incident occurs with no facts and details just blame.

Followed by no more cricket.

Followed by money talks lets play.

The show continues.

So your own country fails to protect Indian occupied Kashmir, and based on your own failure you want to break Pakistan?
Ok lets assume Pakistan breaks, pakistanis are killed to your delight.

How does that make India occupied kashmir any safe?

Like mumbai attacks happened, and after 17 years its the same story....

Before going on a forum and giving wishful threats maybe question your own army and intelligence agencies

I find it funny how after 17 years of no pakistanis in IPL. 13 years of no pak ind series, still an attack happen against India...

Looks like the indian priority shouldnt be on cricket relations but on improving their army and intelligence reporting

What you going to do? Attack some pakistani trees 🤣
No, 10 year extention on cricket banning with relaxtion for icc tournaments as money and 2 points are more valued than indian lives.

But its not like the army or internal security is gonna improve their.

Your cricket's over boy. Have fun playing year long PSL.
Huh? India has already taken measures against pakistan in cricket and pakistan is still doing alright since 2008
What other measures are there to take?

Meanwhile, i doubted you would have the balls to step foot in indian occupied kashmir after what happened

naah i go every year and i will this year too.

it's my country.

and complete measures still haven't been taken.

anyone with psl association banned from ipl or any of the other ipl owned leagues (which is everything else tbh), banned from world cups etc etc.

anyways, have your fun. i'll have mine in a few days. palestinians rejoiced too post the attacks. a few days later it was pRaY foR gAZa.

Sorry this cannot happen BCCI is big but not this big they may isolate Pakistan further but openly they cannot remove Pakistan from cricket its not in their hands
They will.

India says either Pak play or they play - who do you think the world will choose?

Well the concerns should be on both sides. Who’s breeding terrorism in balochistan? Why are Indian posters turning blind eye to the heinous atrocities committed by Indian backed separatists against Pakistani civilians in Balochistan? Unless your own government stops interfering and breeding terrorism in other countries you won’t have peace in your country too. Any reasonable Indian person should think before they start lashing stupidly on Pakistan for supporting such insurgent groups

It's high time these troll accounts are removed. Have no issue with Indian posters who have the courage to wear their allegiances on their sleeve.

However there's a few individuals with Pakistani sounding usernames whose inclinations are pretty evident.

They will.

India says either Pak play or they play - who do you think the world will choose?
A pretty bold prediction by you. What happens if after a couple of days Pakistan is still in cricket?

No point making predictions like these if there are no stakes involved.

It's all started

'Don't play cricket with Pakistan': Ex-RCB star writes to BCCI after Pahalgam terror attack

if they stop playing us in ICC tournaments, i would be glad.

The next hosting is with them, so atleast they wont be able to make money of us or ind-pak game.

I have made my views crystal clear on the actual tragedy here.

Having said that, it's important to recognize the direct role the Indian state has played in escalating the current climate:

  • The promotion of Hindutva nationalism has created an atmosphere where minorities—especially Muslims, but also Christians, Sikhs, and tribal communities—are targeted with impunity.
  • Various state institutions, including the police, armed forces, and paramilitary units, have been involved in serious human rights violations, not just in Kashmir but across other regions as well.
  • The judiciary has repeatedly failed to uphold justice and protect the rights, lives, and properties of minority communities.
  • On the sporting front, the BCCI has long sidelined Pakistan in international cricket without any substantive justification—ironically, it’s often some elements in Pakistan pushing to restore cricket ties despite this clear bias.

Given the large Indian user base on this forum, it's fair to expect that any poll or discussion might reflect certain nationalistic leanings.

That said, the usual deflection tactic—"look at Pakistan"—doesn't hold water. Yes, Pakistan has serious internal issues and human rights concerns that absolutely deserve condemnation. But pointing fingers elsewhere does not absolve the Indian state of its own responsibilities and long-standing actions, especially beyond Kashmir.

Hindutva hardliners don't wait for tragedies or provocations to attack Islam or Pakistan—they do it as part of a broader ideological agenda.

Ultimately, it’s the people of Pakistan who need to recognize this pattern and respond with self-respect, unity, and resilience—rather than dependency or denial. The change must come from within, not by expecting fairness from those invested in perpetuating hostility.

Mohsin Naqvi and the PCB aren't being run by India—but let’s not pretend the system they're part of is healthy. It’s a decaying structure, propped up by the Pakistani military, sustained by corrupt politicians, and sadly, defended by a segment of the public—including some voices on this very forum—who continue to justify or ignore practices that are clearly corrupt, immoral, unethical, and completely un-Islamic.

This isn’t about deflecting blame onto India. The real accountability starts by looking in the mirror.

At this point, India should cut all ties with Pakistan. It is unfortunate that they both are neighbors. If only they could move each others countries far away on the map.

So victim is to blame, got it.

I expect nothing less from a poster whose response to this incident - one of them at least - is to call Indians Apus.

An important line has been crossed and there will be consequences.

Pakistan actively supported the massacre in Mumbai years ago. Whether it’s the same this time, we don’t know. Yet. But an important line has been crossed and there will be consequences.
India crossed a line with BLA.

Money off you? That money is laughable in the Indian scheme of things, whereas the money in India’s cricket system in turn can buy PCB lock stock and barrel.

Some levels of delusion

I will emphasise - I have the greatest respect for my Pakistani friends. And I am a deep admirer of this website.

I don’t want us to break cricket relations. But this thing has a momentum if its own.

India generate 85-90% revenue for ICC which is further divided among many countries including Pakistan.

If India take a stern step of not sharing anything with Pakistan, PCB will come to halt. India allowed Pakistan to get a steady revene per year without playing any bilateral. But situation is different now. If India boycott Pakistan fully and demand no share to Pakistan, things will get tricky for Pakistan cricket.

What if it’s a World Cup final between India and Pakistan, and another attack happens just before the final.

Do you still play?

Do it. I dare the BCCI and the Indian government to take this step. I want to see it happen.

According to who?
According to India.

You can deny about LET and other groups that operate out of Pakistan. It is your choice. But India believes they are the ones that provide training to these people. They do not get their guns and logistical support on their own. Someone is doing it. We know who it is.

This is a vague, hypothetical question at this moment of time. The attack has happened.

Current sentiments is unlikely to die down for months. Asia Cup will be first casuality.

BCCI can afford to take tough stance only because they can due to their financial strength.

There are already talks of cancelling Indus Water treaty. What is cricket in front of that?
