What's new

Pakistan (132/6) defeat Bangladesh (127/7) by 4 wickets to win the 1st T20I

My my my :)))

Looks like the three week drama is over. The players and the fans are back on earth.

Form is temporary but Pakistan’s lack of class, talent and skill will always be permanent.

I am very sorry they spoiled your party.

As usual

Complete fraud at understanding this game.

Good Pak lower order got chance to bat. Bangladesh did well to stretch Pakistan but in these conditions it was expected.

So Pak perform better than other teams like New Zealand and Australia in chasing small totals on Bangladeshi pitches. And for once, the middle/lower order contribute made of some fringe players. Win-win for Pakistan

Wow!

This game started at 3 AM at my place and hence I didn't bother watching. I thought it would be boring.

Bangladesh did better than I expected. LOL.

Congratulations, Pakistan.

As usual, Mahmudullah screwed up with his captaincy.

Bowling rookie Aminul Islam for the last over. Really?

He himself should've bowled.

Pakistan is more suited to these pitches than non Asian teams but it reveals nothing for next years WC other than the middle order is still weak and Malik needs to retire as soon as possible.

Do you ever see anything positive as far as Pakistan is concerned?
You been inspired far too much by Mamoon.

Shadab's batting and fighting approach is the most positive part along with Khusdil's batting. Haider Ali seems to be going in Sajid Ali's way. Sajid Ali was a domestic bully but a failed player in international matches.

Babar Azam: Wicket was a little difficult. Credit to the middle order, the way they showed the skills. Fakhar, Khushdil, the way Nawaz finished. Gave away 15-20 more runs. But this is cricket, happens in T20. Credit to the bowlers the way they bowled.

Hasan Ali, Player of the Match: Pleasant moment for me to win this award. My performance wasn't upto the mark in the WC. As a professinal players, ups and downs will come. I have been here in BPL. Normally it's a slow pitch, as much as you can bowl into the stumps with variations, you'll find success.

Mahmudullah: When we chose to bat, it looked a good wicket. But there was help for the bowlers as well. It's not an excuse. Should've put on a better performance with the bat, especially top of the order. Was lacking in the World Cup as well. Would've been better if we got up to 140. But with 127, if you can get a couple of early wickets... Bowlers did a great job. We were very close. In the end, credit goes to the last two batters. Nawaz and Shadab batted really well for them.

The janaja of Bangladesh cricket is ready. Then the burial . Meanwhile Papon is ready to take his share from this dead man.

I have not seen a single delivery of this match. Probably the first time in my life. I have zero interest left for BD cricket.Nothing to be excited. Pakistan will whitewash this side.

Our cricket is dead. No talent is coming out. No infrastructure is built. Cricket is in the hand of the worst people for decades.

Bangladesh needs a bowling revolution . Move away from these sandpaper pitches and mediocre spinners, where is MMHS, he thought Pak will be competing with Uganda by 2021.He hasn't been around lately.

I am a bit surprised BD retained Mahmudullah as the captain.

He was a poor captain again today.

He should be dropped. Not in a good form.

Pushed against the wall, Pakistan held their nerve to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

Chasing 128 for the win, Pakistan were in a spot of bother at 24/4 inside the Powerplay. Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah steadied the ship with a 56-run stand.

Despite a valiant effort from the Bangladesh bowlers, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz eventually finished the game off in style with a stunning 36-run partnership off just 15 balls.

Earlier, Bangladesh too struggled but Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan and Mahedi Hasan helped them post a respectable total on the board.

Pakistan strike early

Bangladesh's decision to bat first after winning the toss didn't go to plan. In hot and sunny conditions, Pakistan pacers made full use of whatever little movement was on offer with the new ball.

Mohammad Naim was the first to make the long walk back, chasing a delivery wide outside off and nicking it to Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps.

In the very next over, Mohammad Wasim found some movement off the seam and induced an outside edge off debutant Saif Hassan's bat. Fakhar Zaman made no mistake at first slip as Bangladesh lost their openers.

Najmul Hossain Shanto's stay at the crease didn't last long either, as Wasim forced a rash shot and completed a good catch going backwards off his own bowling.

It wasn't until the fifth over of the innings that Bangladesh got their first boundary. Afif Hossain found the ropes twice in two overs to give some sort of momentum to the innings but the Tigers lost a wicket at the worst possible time when they lost their skipper to a peach of a delivery from Mohammad Nawaz.

Middle-order leads fightback

At the halfway stage, Bangladesh found themselves at 40/4. With the scoreboard pressure building, Afif Hossain broke loose in the 11th over with two sixes in two overs.

With Nawaz bowling, the southpaw took full advantage of the angles, tonking the left-arm spinner over his head two balls in a row.

His resistance finally came to an end as Shadab Khan got the better of him with a googly, drawing him forward. Rizwan was quick to dislodge the bails as Bangladesh lost half their side for 61.

Nurul Hasan ensured Bangladesh don't lose the little momentum they had gained. He smashed Shadab Khan for a six and four in the 15th over before taking Wasim over the ropes for his second maximum of the innings.

Brought back into the attack, Hassan Ali ended Nurul Hasan's stay at the crease for 28 but a 20-ball 30* from Mahedi Hasan helped Bangladesh post a decent target of 128 for Pakistan to chase down.

Pakistan collapse early

Bangladesh needed early wicket to make a game of a low target and they got as many as four inside the Powerplay.

Mustafizur Rahman sent Rizwan's stump cartwheeling in the third over. Babar Azam got a reprieve when Bangladesh failed to hear the nick off his bat but couldn't make most of the lifeline as he played on three balls later.

With runs hard to come by, Haider Ali tried to slog sweep Mahedi Hasan but was trapped plumb in front of the stumps.

Shoaib Malik was run-out off the last ball of the Powerplay in bizarre fashion - trying to guide the ball to third, but couldn't get it past the keeper. Out of the crease, Malik was casual in trying to return to the crease. Nurul Hasan hit the stumps directly and the replays showed Malik's bat was still in the air.

Zaman, Khushdil consolidate

Bangladesh continued to turn the screws in the next few overs as Pakistan limped to 40/4 at the halfway stage of the innings, the exact score the Tigers found themselves at the end of 10 overs.

Having spent enough time at the crease, Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah broke the shackles and took the attack to Bangladesh. The duo found four boundaries in the next four overs, including a maximum as they brought up their 50-run partnership in the 14th over.

Taskin Ahmed broke through for Bangladesh at a crucial juncture as Zaman departed for 34. Having hit the first ball of the over for a four, Zaman heaved wildly but only managed to nick it to the keeper.

Pakistan lost their other set batter Khushdil two overs later in a similar fashion to how Zaman was dismissed, edging the ball chasing a wide one outside off.

Shadab, Nawaz take Pakistan through

Needing to defend 32 off the last three, Mahmud Ullah turned to Mustafizur for the 18th over. Unfortunately, the move did not pay for Bangladesh as Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz punished the length balls and accumulated 15 runs from the over.

Mohammad Nawaz turned the game in Pakistan's favour completely in the penultimate over, smashing two sixes off Shoriful Islam to bring the equation down two runs off the last over.

Shadab Khan eventually sealed the game with a six, winning the opening game of the series with four balls and four wickets to spare.

I am also missing him. I m afraid , is he alive in this pandemic? I hope so

How the revolution will occur? Who are going to make such sporting pitches? BCB is in the hands of the worst people.

Just watched the highligts of the match. Rizwan got a beauty from Mustafizur R. Babar chopped on. Haider not taking his chance and what on earth were Malik doing lol? Reminded me of Umar Amin run out some years ago. I don’t think BD will get the top order this cheaply again.

After so many years of playing cricket and still can't do the basics Shaoib Malik.

Pakistan at the moment is a semi final side in conditions favouring them.
But, they are trying to up the ante in the batting dept to catch up with the likes of England, New Zealand etc.

The approach of Carry on Bang Bang with long batting line ups will eventually pay off if the likes of Asif, Khushdil, Haider continue to develop, and that, will in time replace stop-gap players like Hafeez and Malik.

That was absolutely criminal. So lazy and casual.

Ball from Nawaz that just clipped bails was a beauty though.

It was beyond belief that a player that has been playing for so many years has this kind of attitude

Saif Hasan in t20i?

Pitch was decent. Not like Aus NZ series BD had. 150-160 would have been good total. BD’s batting in first 6-7 overs gone awol, look clueless especially with these test line up Sheikh, Saif, Shanto! Shanto looks so bad every time I see him for BD at the international level, domestically he does well.

Match got closer than I thought would be. Pakistan should have chased it by 18th over. BD fought well with the ball but the batting early on reminded me of BD Pre-2007.

Next match they need to play Yasir Ali who seems built for T20!

Mahmudullah is a bad clueless captain. What’s the point having a leggie if you won’t bowl him. He decision making so appalling. Cant wait to see him retire.

Dahani should replace Rauf in second t20.Rizwan needs a rest.Sarfraz can replace.Fakhar can open with Babar.
