Pakistan (242/7) defeat South Africa (239/9) by 3 wickets in a nail biting encounter to win the 1st ODI

It wasn't a string of failures. He failed 25 t20 games in a row and was failing test which is why I wanted him dropped from those formats.

Imfact even now he hasn't cracked the code of tests or t20.

But in odi he performed in day 1
He was never failing in Tests. In fact, he stood out in most innings compared to the rest of the lot.

But this is exactly my point, if you can’t support a player when he is at his lowest, you should not jump the bandwagon when he is at his highest.

Dear saim Ayub, I am so excited for your future, I am sure you are the answer of all those questions that we have been asking from last 5 years.
Just remain fit and work on your shots and remove individual achievements from your mind, just be a team man and make your team win trophies and matches and eventually you will win something for you as well i mean thats how it goes right?
He’s a far better team man than anyone else that has come close to playing for this team in the last 20 years.

Babar looking so unsettled right now. If he can just get settled, he should do well:

Different formats. A player being good in one doesn't equate to being good in the other.

De villlers was an odi and test king and qdk was an odi and t20 gun batter but qdk never cracked the code of test cricket and was rubbish in it. De villers was shockingly poor in t20 even when he promoted himself to opening.

De villers may have been good in ipl and leagues but was overall trash in t20 international.

Saim ayub performed in odi from day 1 which is why he deserves to be here. But in test cricket his 50's were painful and beyond those 3 50's he's been garbage in said format.

Same with t20 cricket, it took him over 30+ games to finally score a good 98 against sa.

Their is nothing wrong with me asking for a drop in t20 or test cricket before he performed especially when he played 30+ games.

However in odi if I asked for his drop them yes I'd be in the wrong.

This would be my xi for the CT. To play people like Abdullah, and Kamran is a waste of time with the CT so close imo

1. Saim
2. Fakhar
3. Babar
4. Rizwan
5. Salman Agha
6. Shadab
7. Irfan Khan
8. Shaheen
9. Naseem
10. Haris Rauf
11. Abrar
Shadab Khan is a T20 tailender who can give you runs. No6 is for batters in ODIs who can score a century from that position. If you think Shadab has the game for no6, your license to post should be taken away. Pakistani cricket has made a mockery of batsmanship. We need someone who has at least 10 centuries in domestic to be playing in that position. For example, India’s World Cup winning team in 2011 had Suresh Raina coming in at no7 after a world class top 6.
I don’t know if Irfan is good enough to bat at no6 but he should be tried there.

Yes he is but my letter is for the future saim Ayub not this current young cricketer
Why?
Because in starting almost every young cricketer starts playing as a team man once they start scoring centuries and their average sore up, that's when they start focusing on Rankings and their averages. So i hope he always go for the kill and be a flag bearer of new fearless approach in a team.

Judging from the way Pakistan bowled, it will get tougher once the South African spinners come on
it will not be an easy chase

Racial partnership for Pakistan.

Saim and Babar must spend maximum time possible at the crease and get as near to the total as they can.

Rest assured for as long as Saim is at the crease, run rate isn’t going to be a problem. Babar has to show his experience here.

If Saim Ayub develops the ability to rotate the strike, I have no doubt that will become one of the best white-ball batters in the world.

RR at start was 4.8

Now 5.3 post powerplay

Pakistan have fluffed the powerplay again.

Babar is great odi batter when he isn't captaining. Should just play odi from now on. Now need to be a test or t20 bat

Tbf the bowling was good and the target ain't high.

It was a fiery competition between bat and ball. Sa ain't bowling pies

same old game plan, turn a 5 required rpo into 8+, than start slogging and gifts wickets in panic mode. Rinse and repeat.
That's really why you need someone like a Fakhar in the team
Abdullah
Babar
Even Saim at times just take it too easy at the top
