Pakistan [305 all out] slide to a 62-run defeat to Australia [367/9] at the ICC World Cup 2023 in Bengaluru

Afghan game in chennai is 50/50

Rashid Khan already licking his lips at the prospect of bowling to babar
If they play the same way as ytd , Afghanistan will taste success.

Actually this is the rivalry now, equal strength team facing each other..

India vs Pakistan is no more a match between two competitive side.

Mickey Mouse talks about facing India again in final lol

Will the team management replace Haris Rauf with Mohd Wasim Jr?

Shadab makes it into the team on his fielding alone, he should replace Mohd Nawaz.

How to play Shadab, Usama Mir, Iftikhar, Agha Salman together? Not convinced Hassan Ali is adding much to the team with his innocuous medium pace

Didn't we literally just see that grass is not greener on the other side with Shadab vs Usama. It certainly won't be with Wasim Jr. over Rauf.

Pakistan, regardless of changes are just a mediocre and completely out of form team and I doubt drastic changes like that will make the team any better. For this team to be better, ultimately, it rests on their core players (Babar/Imam/Shaheen/Rauf/Shadab) to simply be better. If those guys aren't firing on most days, this team isn't winning.

I was watching the game live in the stadium. Was so disappointed the way Pakistan gave it away. Left after Rizwans wicket.
Babar needs to step up. He has got out playing that shot a couple of times. It was an easy wicket, the boundaries were so small, it was a target to be chased

I don’t know why everyone is always so depressed and negative. It’s just a sport at the end of the day. We, as fans, can only watch and hope for the best. Nothing we say on this forum actually matters in terms of how the team will perform. So why not choose to be positive and hope that we pull it off? If you’ve already given up, then why even watch another game of cricket?

I can understand the Indian fans hating on our team, but self hating Pakistani fans are the ones I’ll never understand.

That's not true. This forumn especially some members like the administrators have a lot of power to bring change and talk to the cricketers about certain complaints.

And pakistani's have a massive voice, it is our voice that got shan masood kicked out and our voice that forces these cricketers ro say parchi brands and what not.

Many players have spoken to saj and they are aware of the existence of pakpassion forumn. Idk if they ever check or log on or lurk, but if I was a player I'd defo lurk from time to time lol.

Point is, voices being change, and we as a whole nation have brought change before multiple times. It'll happen but slowly and gradually.

If we didn't have a voice and didn't make complains then players like hasan Ali wouldn't be backtracking by first saying Pakistan has the best bowling attack to saying oh we never said we did,

Nor would babar's captaincy and imam be forced to call out.

You have no idea how much power we all have assuming we all collectively speak and aren't just individual.

Forumns, Journalists, interviews, all this secondary data and primary data research adds up eventually. So if you're speaking the truth, atm you might feel as if you've done nothing but you're making the smallest of contributions and collectively that reaches the end goal.

Because there is no depth in batting. After number 4 there is inexperienced saud and then all mediocres. Saud should have been groomed way before this world cup as a regular batsman in this lineup. But pakistan persisted with mediocores like agha and ifti for most of the series before WC.
Mediocre can score 72 off 72 in last 12.. we did nt even manage to do that.. so its below mediocrity at the moment.. we have no batting talent in all rounders or so called all rounders.. 8 out 10 they fail.. i dnt remember any match winning knock from ifti or nawaz .. our tail starts after fall of 4th wicket

You can't just throw a youngster like usama against Australia in a wc game without grooming him.

Beautifully said. I agree. By far one of the best forums for Pakistan related matters. Infact just the game in general.

Spot on. If Pakistan had batted first i think they would have been happy with 320 or so which OZ would have hunted down in 40 overs.
Exactly that would pose the whole team as bad , for not scoring enough runs and also the bowlers been carted for runs.

In order to avoid that they let Aus set target and pretend chasing whatever is in front , so that can cover some embarrassment and NRR

I feel like a broken record, but leaving out Imad was a significant injustice, and the responsibility for this omission falls on Babar. Imad was in sublime form and the epitome of a perfect ODI player. He demonstrated a remarkable ability to construct innings under pressure and to unleash powerful attacks when required. I'm sure he wouldve bowled better than Shadab and Nawaz.

Pakistan desperately need to neat sputh Africa and Afghanistan. And hope New Zealand can finish Australia off cause aussies aren't losing to medtherlands and Pakistan isn't beating them on NRR.

“It is just about the shot selection; when the ball is fuller or even on a shorter length, you are trying to hit it for a 4. And two of your main players, Imam and Babur, are already back in the pavilion. Though you have seen the Australians if the same ball is bowled to David Warner, even if it is fuller or on a shorter length, they did not try to hit it for a 4; they hit it for a 6. Knowing that a boundary is small, they went for the full-blooded shot and hit it for a 6, even if it was fuller or shorter length. We played many balls from the spinner even if it was bowled fuller; we played it like we were playing in a huge stadium, so knowledge about the ground and taking the initiative that if a ball is fuller, it's a small 62 boundary, why are you not taking a risk? At one point, when the pressure increases, you have to do so much. At the back end, when the wickets are also falling, you need 8 an over. The wicket falls, and the new batsman takes a bit of time, and suddenly the run rate required goes to 10. So this is the difference, according to me, and the second thing that I was saying before, the way we have bowled, if we had planned properly, we could have saved 35 to 40 runs.”

“You know that Adam Zampa is bowling wicket to wicket, and he is trying to cramp you. He wants you to play that ball to the square leg so he can get you out leg before and look how we got out. We did not went to play straight; we could have given some room at least so we could get some extension and target the straight boundary instead we are trying to go towards mid-wicket, square leg, or point like the way Iftikhar got out. We know the bowling plan of Stoinis in every match because when he comes to bowl, he bowls the bouncers like slow bouncers are cutters. It was the first ball, and Abdullah tried to get out of the crease and hit him for a boundary, and he got out when he was set on the crease, you lost the wicket, and the match got out of our hands. Till the end, you can see how Rizwan got out. Rizwan was already set. Why would you want a slider or a straighter ball that he is bowling wicket to wicket and you are trying to go cross-batted and you or trying to hit it towards square leg? That is not going to happen, and you will get LBW. Instead, he could have given himself some room and targeted the straighter boundary.”

With this squad, finishing anywhere above number 6 on the table will be an achievement for PCT

It was very clear that scoring in the last overs will become difficult. 90+ runs in first 10 overs should have been the target.
Look at the brand of cricket - specially batting - all teams are playing. The difference is huge. In India it will be the batting that can win you matches.
Babar lacks imagination and is surely not a captain material. Just being your top run scorer currently doesn't mean that he can out think the opposition. To me he plays for himself and mostly gets out on silly shots not expected from a player of his ability.
Honestly, Pakistan cricket is lacking world class players, power hitters and spin bowlers and yes, also fielders.
Having said that they can still best best teams on a rare day.

In a recent interview with Star Sports, Raja highlighted several key issues that Pakistan needs to address as they prepare for their upcoming match against Afghanistan on October 23rd at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

"I have never seen anyone giving such a massive punishment for a dropped catch. A lot of catches are dropped but I have never seen anyone scoring 150-160. So it is a wake-up call for Pakistan that you will keep getting punished until you hold catches," Ramiz said.

"Once you lose the momentum, it is difficult to get it back and win. The next match is against Afghanistan in Chennai, which will not be an easy match as Pakistan's batters don't play spin that well," he added.

The former PCB Chairman didn't spare the bowlers either, as he criticized their performance against Australia, pointing out the need for significant improvements.

"A lot of things need to be corrected. This bowling was world-class a month ago and massive discussions need to happen if you concede 365 - when you do defensive bowling, why can't you bowl length balls consistently, or why you are unable to bowl wicket-taking balls," he said.

In addition to this, the 61-year-old also took a swipe at Pakistan's batters for their inability to post substantial scores, especially when facing tough opposition.

"Pakistan freezes whenever they get a slightly stiff opposition. The World Cup campaign suffers a setback like this. If you don't win, you forget how to win. Australia showed how you can bat on a good pitch. The 60s and 70s look good but you don't win the match with that, I am talking about Pakistan," he concluded.

Following their loss to Australia yesterday, Pakistan has descended to the fifth position on the ICC 2023 World Cup points table, while the Australian team has made a significant leap from the tenth spot to secure the fourth position.

All he does is play on the backfoot and nudge for a single.

Lamest player of spin I've ever seen lol
Remember who brought him in first and then after Mickey left who brought him in again, now ppl make threads that he is the best analyst of the game in Pakistan lol :)... the batsmen he brought in are Asif Ali, Ifthikhar ahmed, Khushdil, Danish Aziz

NZ has 5 games against the big teams - Ind Pak SL Aus SA.. Guys here sometimes overrate NZ ability. They can easily lose 3 of these and be stuck at 6 wins. So I dont think NZ is a shoo in for sf at this stage. Ind looks to be the only team to be a certainty for sf. Ind problem has always been the sf KO game lol ! And as an Ind supporter , the sf is what worries me the most no matter who it is :)
lost 2 already , if they continue to lose some more that would make things interesting.. Now Australia has to start losing...

If England, Pakistan and SRL can pull up their socks and make it tough for top 4 then that would make this CWC very interesting..
