What's new

Pakistan A [195 & 314/6] beat England Lions [240 & 266] by four wickets in the one off four-day game

Great chase against quite a decent Lions attack. By the time some of these guys make it to PAK team, they’ll also learn how to choke chasing 175.

This Rizwan guy has scored invaluable 58 & 47 from a tight position, has taken 6 dismissals & a run out, and didn’t concede a single bye for 500+ runs in 150+ overs of keeping ...... then we hear that there is no alternative of Sarfraz!!!!!

Should I remind you as to why Rizwan was dropped from Pakistan Team and what progress he has made in those areas ? Or you follow Pakistan cricket closely ?

Please do remind, I might have missed something.

And, do you think the 11 spot in a national team is inherited property that you get for a past performance & own it as long as you wish to keep playing?

Imam is still better then hafeez.

The chacha working at my local supermarket is better than Hafeez, it doesn’t say much.

Time to draft some of these guys in. First things first, get that paid actor playing a wicketkeeper character Sarfraz back to Karachi on the next flight and get Rizwan in. Replace Hafeez too...

All wishful thinking sadly. Hafeez and Sarfraz are this generation’s Imran Farhat and Faisal Iqbal.

Lol no.

Imam Ul Haq is the new Imran Farhat.

We don't have a Faisal Iqbal.

Imran Farhat was a talented stroke maker and a good timer of the ball. His problems were in his head like most Pakistani batsmen. Imam isnt as talented.

Encouraging to see Salahuddin bat with greater urgency.

Less encouraging is seeing Khurram Manzoor, who shouldn't be picked for the A team, predictably fail once more against any decent pace attack.

Agreed. Manzoor is 32 years old(real age is greater) and should make way for younger players. Masood is also tried and tested and would have been discarded by now if it wasn't for his fathers connections.

I haven't followed Rizwan recently so I was unsure of how he was doing since he was dropped from the International side. It looks like he is working hard, so hopefully he can start challenging Sarfraz for a position.

This furthers my belief that Sarfraz should be stripped of the captaincy as a captain should be an indispensable part of the playing XI. I feel that if Sarfraz wan't captain, he would have been dropped by now for poor performances. Only the captaincy is saving him right now...

Dont foget Abid ali and Saud Shakil.Abid must be some one special ,Iknow he is not dynomic but he has scored runs,Saud done what was required,$6 of 38 balls.

Abid is already 31 and had sub 40 averages in List A and First Class. We should aim higher than him...

Debate is still on. Remember an year ago I was asking for inclusion of Rizwan in tests.

Fakhar Zaman, in his debut series in WI, was batting at #6 and couldn't connect a ball. He looked an absolute back at number 5/6. Same happened to Rizwan when he was mostly coming to crease with 6-7 overs remaining.

Fantastic result at a time when we could all use some good news!

are you mad?

Our selector prefers batsman that average between 35-40, over players that average 45+

That is his criteria.

Pakistan A won the four-day 'Test' against England Lions after Abid Ali and Usman Salahuddin inspired the hosts to chase down 312.

Ali, who's made over 100 first-class appearances and scored a ton against New Zealand A earlier this month, scored 113 while Salahuddin, who made his Test debut against England in Leeds last summer, made 74.

The game was in the balance heading into the final day after three days which had largely gone the Lions' way but it wasn't to be on a frustrating final day for the tourists.

There were three wickets for Dom Bess and a second of the innings for Jamie Porter - to make it five for the match for him.

Porter and the rest of the England seamers gave everything on an unresponsive wicket that improved as the game went on but the Lions'

The Lions will start the one-day leg of the tour on November 25 in Dubai.

November 27: Second 50-over match v Pakistan A, Dubai

December 2: Fourth 50-over match v Pakistan A, Abu Dhabi
December 5: Fifth 50-over match v Pakistan A, Dubai

Will take both Abid and Usman on the tour to SA. Abid as the third opener behind Imam and Fakhar. I am hoping that Hafeez will fail once again in second test and his test chapter will be closed for good. If Pak ends up taking 8 batsmen to SA, Saad Ali will make the cut along with Azhar, Haris, Asad, and Babar for the 5 middle order spots. If 9 batsmen, Usman should be selected.

As Saud got to play lower down the order and hasn't got big scores like Abid and Usman to show, I doubt he will be selected over Usman in a 9 batsmen selection.

This was a fantastic result, Abid Ali seems to do good for Pakistan A, he could be in the Pakistan squad soon!

round about the time a pakistani batsman matures then..can still play in tests for 5 to 6 years..

Can anyone post the scorecard

No harm in giving an in form Rizwan a go to replace Sarfraz.

Amazing stuff. He deserves a chance..If he isn't good enough that's fair enough. But he is out performing specialist captain.

Agreed, people are holding his past against him, whereas Sarfraz is in there only for his past performances. Have to realize you can get worse or better over time. Sarfraz has sadly reverted to his 2013 and before form.

Is Ehsan Ali actually good enough to bat at no.7? If yes than he should get another go in national colours.

I always thought he was a decent bowler and Waqar Younis has always had high regards for him.

Exactly and that's very well put. Most of the posters are against his exclusion because of his past performances when he was young and inexperienced.

He's shown that he is in far better touch than Sarfraz and if we cast our minds back to the ODI series during the Aus, his keeping in that series was solid. Sarfraz isn't no dhoni with the gloves, in fact he's quite ordinary.

The CT win has got to his head and doesn't have the same drive that we saw from 2014 up until that tournament. Sarfraz doesn't make any Pakistan side on merit.
