Pakistan A v England (Day 1 thread)

Is it like a break or something at the moment? Scorecard hasnt changed for the last 5-10 minutes.

you're no good
if you were, you'd email me but you're a lost cuase :D

Don't blame me, blame this electronic tag that they put on my left foot that shocks me everytime i attempt to hookup the tv to the pc... :135:

they probably spent too much time perfecting their taches rather than their batting...

The card only updates when the official english scorer pinches himself...

lets not jump to conclusions guys

why not? england are performing cr@p in their 3rd consecutive innings...

plus, vaughan said that theyt would field their most probably test 11 in this match. and right now they suck.

Looks like Hasan might not get to bring in the other bowlers unless the other grandpa, Udal and the wheely bin Giles can save the day. The problem may be the pitches they have England playing on. How different will the test wickets be and what will they do? Its obvious that the first 2 have offered movement in the way of swing but what will Multan do? I just hope they select the right bowlers.

I think that the actual Team Pakistan squad should play a small 8 a side match amongst each other on the night before the first test, just to see what the pitch is like. Muahahahaha! :16:

That way we can have the advanatge!:D

Now it says Pak A won the toss, elected to bat and WE are at 58-7?????

now thats really confusing, how the heck they are gonna mix up with hrmison and shahid nazir and udal and Mo asif names. I am lost or they have lost it.

The bbc website can't take the beating and is trying to convince everybody that in fact Pakistan A are batting

Don't worry, it's just wishful thinking

Udal apparenly took six wickets on a first day pitch. I highly doubt this is true.

W.T.F. is happening. Why would Udal open instead of Hoggard anyway. Its gone retarded

thas what i was thinking. that is not a small mistake to be made. not only they swapped the batsmen but also who bowled and who caught has be figured out as well.

Ach, apparently Giles was dropped by Amin-ur-Rehman off the bowling of Khalil

England's struggling batsmen made a horrendous start to their three-day match against Pakistan A in Lahore.

They were reduced to 76-7 at lunch after skipper Michael Vaughan won the toss and opted to bat first.

He made 17 but was the only top order batsmen to reach double figures as pacemen Mohammad Asif and Shahid Nazir shared the wickets.

Paul Collingwood and Geraint Jones went for ducks and Andrew Flintoff made nine in his first innings of the tour.

England were hoping for easier conditions than in Rawalpindi where they managed to beat a Patron's XI despite being bowled out for 112 in their second innings.

They opted for a likely Test XI, with Collingwood and spinner Shaun Udal preferred to Ian Bell and James Anderson.

But the top order was blown away after Nazir made the initial breakthrough by having Andrew Strauss caught at third slip for five.

Vaughan was dropped on nought by Taufeeq Umar before Marcus Trescothick was bowled for eight by an inswinging delivery from Asif which knocked out middle and off stumps.

It quickly became a procession as Kevin Pietersen attempted a flamboyant drive without taking time to adjust to conditions, departing for four, and Vaughan followed in similar fashion.

Collingwood and Jones only lasted four balls each - Collingwood caught behind as he tried to cut and Jones bowled by Asif, who picked up his fifth wicket when Flintoff's checked drive was taken by Arshad Khan at mid-on.

It could have been even worse as Giles swung the bat at a ball from Mohammad Khalil, but keeper Amin-ur-Rehman was unable to hang on to a low chance to his right.

since cricinfo is getting updates from bbc, even they are confuse, but they are sticking with the eng being 53/7. Is udal fast bowler or a spinner?

Im sure if Mo Asif can pick up a 5er then im sure Khalil can pick a few up himself. Its good to see Hasan go for the fill but i think he should rest Nazir now. 10 overs in a trott are enough!

Interesting to see Harmison and Udal open the bowling :))

Udal is an aging English spinner whos aged around 36. I doubt very much if he could pick up so many quick wickets, let alone open the bowling.

arshad khan has scored 20 off 12 balls. :O

Yep now i am hundred percent sure that the english are tempering wih the scorecard.

Actually what has happened is that the scorecard has been reversed. So since Asif and Nazir opened the bowling (number 9 and 10 on the scorecard) they have been replaced by england's 9 and 10 (udal and harmison).

Same for the fielders Shahid Yousuf (number 3) has been replaced by Vaughan (number 3)

How can pakistan have played 24 overs already before lucnh???? I thought it was 30 overs a session, i cant believe that england would have been bowled out in around 6 overs!!

Man you are a genius:14:

thanks shayan :19:

and thanks toon for the video, keep them coming!

with the video now we have proof that it's England batting. (in case they try to prove otherwise)

Scorecard??????????

:( i had look at about 3 different live scorecards but they are all different !!!

what the really score???????????????? can anyone help?

Yes it's 77/7 England

Nazir got 2, Asif 5.

Toon has also posted a video which is proof. They just switched the scorecard by mistake.

what the hell is going on :43:
the headline on BBC sports is " england wickets tumble in lahore"
when i click on the scorecard it shows pakistan are at 76/7 and udal has picked up 5 wickets

bahut confusion hai ...

How could 14 wickets fall in the openong session!! What the heck is going on!!!! This is laughable. It feels like some website editor is having fun generating ridiculous scorecards!

I've already said what happened a few times! It's England batting. Pakistan has NOT batted.

Flintoff and Collingwood basically threw away their wickets so those were two gifts for Asif.

Awesome a video. Asif with 5 wickets wow...somewhat hard to believe. The cricinfo card doesn't refresh for me, what other score cards are you all viewing?

i didnt think this bowling attack had the teeth to do much damage but wow, this is england's actual test side that's playing

The Sky Sports people are cry babbies.....
The reporter must have used the word "undercooked" about 7 times in a 3 minute report. Playing 2 warm up 3/4 day games is a luxury nowadays. On our tour to the WI we didnt even get that. Im sure when we go to England we will not get more than 1..... and yet these guys are continuously complaining that they are not getting enough practice.

Yeh have to agree with you there. Its typical hypocritical English speak. Most teams dont get much in the way of warm ups and fortunately for them, they've had 2 good warm up teams to prepare against. Have they forgotten that they've come off a successful ashes campaign that wasnt that long ago? With all this talk of 3-0, i think they've become some what complacent.

geoff boycott will be on radio 5live with his view in the next hr.

Hmm.....5 innings on the tour so far (including the Patrons XI innings) and 5 early innings collapses.

The matches are beginning earlier, and there is morning dew is my theory...

well well well... i hope our main team does this and the batsmen put up some runs!

125-9

asif 6 -62.

Harmison scored 4 boundaries. 17 not out- dropped at cover.
Hoggard batting with him

Im looking forward to hearing that Yorkshire wife beater his views :30: I had respect for the man as he used to give Pakistan there dues. But when England won the ashes and he was asked how they would fair against Pak and India, he completely dismissed Pakistan and went on to say India would be a big challenge. Excuse me but just because you won an ashes series doesnt mean you will beat us so easily. I just want to hear these guys eat there words!!!

126 all out......:D:D
update jst came up on the NZ SA match....... Khalil takes one...Asif 6

Mohammed asif gets 7 wickets, subhanallah, please someone explain to me then how come we persist with the 2 brainless garbage pacers such as shoaib and sami when these domestic bowlers are consistently proving how good they really are (in patrons 11, aganist australia A and now here)

Pakistan A v England XI, Lahore, 1st day

England collapse yet again

The Bulletin by Andrew Miller in Lahore

November 6, 2005

England 76 for 7 (Giles 20*, Udal 4*) v Pakistan A
Scorecard

England's top-order once again folded dismally on the opening day of their final first-class warm-up match against Pakistan A at Bagh-e-Jinnah, slumping to 76 for 7 at lunch as the impressive seam pairing of Mohammad Asif and Shahid Nazir excelled on a helpful wicket. Aided by the safe hands of Shahid Yousuf, who pocketed three sharp catches at third slip, they left England's first-Test preparations wallowing in the mire.

Not that this situation was anything new, mind you. After collapses of 60 for 6 and 39 for 6 at Rawalpindi, England are getting rather used to such a predicament. The difference this time around is that, with just 11 players per side - as opposed to the full squad of 14 - England have no specialist batsmen lurking down the order to bail them out. Their bowlers spared them embarrassment against the Patron's XI, but at this rate they might have to do the business with bat and ball.

Though Duncan Fletcher yesterday praised his team's work ethic as they threw themselves into the fitness side of their campaign, all the weights-sessions in the world won't make up for a loose technique. All too many of the batsmen were undone by impetuosity as much as swing, with only Andrew Strauss receiving a delivery that would have troubled most players. He was the first to fall, squared up by Nazir, and squirting a low edge to Yousuf at third slip (13 for 1).

Not for the first time in the innings, one wicket brought two, as Marcus Trescothick played around a full-length delivery in Asif's next over and had his off and middle stumps detonated from the ground. Michael Vaughan was then dropped at second slip before he had scored, and Kevin Pietersen had an equal stroke of fortune, when his tentative push evaded a diving keeper to enable him to get off the mark.

Neither made their good fortune count, however. Pietersen tried to hit his way out of trouble and edged Asif to Aminur Rahman behind the stumps for 4, and three balls later, Paul Collingwood carved loosely to give Shahid his second catch. Collingwood was gone for a fifth-ball duck, not the performance he had been looking for as he attempts to cement his Test place.

Vaughan stroked three defiant boundaries, but he was Asif's next victim, also courtesy of a loose drive to third slip. And after a maiden from Nazir, Geraint Jones - whose place is under increasing pressure from Matt Prior - lost his middle stump as he played around a straight one. It was an eighth-ball duck for Jones, and at 40 for 6, England's only consolation was that they had gone one run better than their worst start of the tour.

All eyes now fell on Andrew Flintoff, just 72 hours off the plane from England and now expected to bail his side out in his first innings of the tour. He brought up England's fifty with a composed hook through square leg, but one ball later, Asif had a five-wicket haul from just nine overs, as Flintoff miscued a drive to Arshad Khan in the covers.

It could have been even worse for England, as Ashley Giles was dropped behind the stumps on 14 in Mohammad Khalil's first over, but he and Shaun Udal made it to lunch with their wickets. If they thought that their main partnership would be as a spin pairing, England's top-order had done its best to convince them otherwise.
