Asad has failed at 3 in the past, mickey arhur tried it and gave up on the idea.

Pujara grinds it better. Kohli should be guarded against the new ball coz he can up the RR with the old ball unlike Pujara.

Starc is not a good red ball bowler, his best i think would be during the ‘tamper’ era.

Tbf even Cummins hasn’t been as tight as his usual self, Pattinson might probably comeback unless they prefer the leftie among the righties

Azhar was fantastic today, blunted the ball and tired the bowlers.

Yea he is not moving. But batsman has enough time to play quick balls.
 
What even happened. I went away for the second session and this happens. Horrible shots from Haris and Babar, they need to step up and show some maturity.

That Rizwan ball was a no-ball, he was playing well too and was on the counter attack.

Babar played a reckless shot, but he will make up for it in the second innings.
However, haris and ifti are walking wickets, we are effectively playing with 9 players!

Thats the most irritating aspect of him, He has the brawn but not the brain with red ball.

Yeah,Its a typical new age Aussie pitch , I see Warner doing well here unless the one guy Aus hasn’t prepared for Shah produces some great spells.
 
Aussie bowlers absolutely do nothing with old ball. May be they are not capable. They will just hope one of the batsman makes a mistake.

It is a slow and flat. FTBs will thrive here.

Well if we are looking for positives, this is an improvement from our first innings at the Gabba 3 years ago where we were bowled out for around 130.
 
Babar azam continues to fail in red ball cricket , may be its not his format. Pakistan need to look for replacements.
 
This is a difficult pitch to bat on. CricViz rated the first session as having the toughest batting conditions at the Gabba and while it has eased out a bit , it's still not that easy. Pakistan's approach was right but done relentlessly good bowling by Cummins and Hazelwood did them in.

This is a flat wicket. Of the pitch very slow. If you can't move the ball you are pretty much done here. Not enough threatening bounce or pace. Yasir will be the most effective here.
 
Asad is really taking responsibilty now. He looked good in the warm ups and is looking good today.

The pitch will get quicker on day 2. The captains said this too. The sun will bake it and the moisture will be taken out of the wicket, it will become hard and dry.

After tea Cummins has not been grey, he is just waiting for the new ball or evening.

Hazlewood though has been tight.
 
We have to get at least 250, it will be difficult as we are in the tail, even if Yasir can bat a bit, he is still a tail ender.

Babar only really has 2 shots -
1. Drives in the 'V'
2. Cut shots

You cant play cuts in tests due to the slip cordon, so he only has 1 shot in tests - drives!
He needs more in his armoury.

Just a reality check for all those people who think babar is more talented than his cousin umar, when umar was 20.
20 year old umar had all the shots!

Bounce is deceptive on this wicket. I remember posters being critical of India's first innings of our tour here and pujara at end of the day's press conference said that it was harder to bat on than it looked . He was right of course and Australia struggled on the same pitch.

Babar is excellent at playing the pull shot, hook shot, every drive in the book, leg glance and cut shot. He's not a bad sweeper either. That's literally every conventional stroke in the game. The only thing holding his career back at the moment is rash shot selection and impatience

Paine has , unwisely in my opinion, overbowled Cummins and hazlewood . They needed to get Lyon and Starc to bowl a few in between but I think Paine thought he could bundle out Pakistan cheaply.

My feeling is that Aussies will win this game , but will be close one , Pakistan will make it tough for them.
 
Asad Averaging 39 after 70 Test is very less , he should have been in late 40s by now at least.

Aussies will score like 500 on this
 
Australia would like to get a wicket here , they will not want Pakistan Tail to add another 50 runs here
