How Pakistan perform once the base has been set will be crucial. No point scoring 450-500 in 2 days, it will be tough to win from there unless Aus collapse spectacularly.

This is the first time ever Aus have failed to take a wicket in the first session at Gabba when bowling first.

Think given our record here and Misbah's defensive mentality Pakistan wouldn't mind a draw here

First, I don't watch WWE.

Second, for a neutral a team scoring at less than 2 runs an over is BORING. As a Pakistani you may find it engrossing as someone who does not care for the result and just wants to be entertained, this is bad cricket.

No one finds 2 rpo ‘engrossing’ .. not even Pakistanis

Nonetheless, boring but solid batTing by these two

lets hope pakistan dont make the mistake they made in the 2016 tour. Azhar scored a double ton and we scored 450 odd in two days.

Warner made a century in the first session. This is a pancake pitch. Should treat it as such and hammer these bowlers. We are leaving too many boundary balls.

This session was so fun to watch. Good, gritty batting by these two. Pure test cricket at it's best.

The one advantage of Wasim being involved in the cricket committee is that he's slightly less clueless than usual in the commentary box

Irrespective of how fast you score, you still need to get the opposition out within 300 odd runs and ideally 200 odd runs in one of the innings. Pak will be only able to win if they can restrict Aus to low totals and low totals would mean 1.5 days are enough to get them out once.

if Australia is gonna score 450 against opposition's 450 odd than you less likely to win a test anyways irrespective of if you score 450 in 1 day or 2 days.

Impressive starts for Pakistan. Pure test match fan here. Please ignore all these tamasha league fan in this forum. ;)

Good start I must admit... what are guys talking about being slow. It’s a test match for god sake.better to not give wickets. Pujara succeeded like that last time because he was not flashy. Aussies don’t like attritional cricket.

Shaan and azhar are doing brilliantly,
Just need to carry on with more of the same, blunt the ball and tire out the bowlers.
shafiq, babar and ifti will increase the run rate inshAllah.
The pitch is not a pancake(lol)!
Warne said its the best pitch in the world for test cricket and i respect his cricketing knowledge.

Too many t20 fans posting on this thread(lol)!

I would prefer 57 for no wickets after 27 overs then be 97 for 2 or 3 wickets after 27 overs

Made me laugh when the aussie commentator was talking about how theres been changes to the pak side, with a new captain and wasim interjected that yes safaraz has been sacked and the aussie commentator quickly said safraz has been relinquished of the captaincy!
Once a paindu, always a paindu!

Do you guys remember the Shaz and Waz show???

Sarfaraz only deserves humiliation. Good stuff from Wasim.

Definetly, but shaan and azhar have to carry on, at least get the score to 100, before getting out. 60 for 2 would be a waste of the start that they have given pakistan.

Very Misbah-esque start to this game. If this Misbah chief selector-cum-head coach-cum-batting coach-cum-king of the world reign means that our test batting plays like 7 Misbahs then I, for one, welcome our tuk tuk overlord :salute

He is coaching Eng also as they arent going at 5+ as well rather 2.16 in NZ?

Most Australian commentators are insufferable. Add Waz to the mix and you have a disaster on your hands.

Aussie commie just said its the first time in the history of aussies playing at the gabba and bowling first, that they have not been able to take a wicket in the openning session!
Just shows how well azhar and shaan have played!

I don't think you understood my post - I'm praising this start from Pakistan and Misbah and saying if this is how it will be, I am all for it.

Pakistan need to be wary of any sudden and unexpected reverse swing if they keep batting away like this :smith

I agree. I though you were going overboard with 7 Misbah's because you arent liking the pace. :wahab2

They better ask the umpires to check pockets of Aussie players after every session. You never know in which session desperation comes in. :riaz

Better than Salman Butt!!!!!!! R U sure?

Haha, Junaids would have to change his opinion now.

Brother Junaids has trash-talked Azhar Ali quite a lot already, before the tour even started...

Shan Masood has one of the most sketchy techniques.

He isn't made for international cricket, you can see it, but somehow still surviving till now. Good for us nonetheless.

Azhar's playing like he got a double hundred the last match he played here

He's going to score a 5 day triple century here and the Aussies will be so tired they'll have to play their 2nd XI in the next test.

Genius strategy.

Someone's gotta take up the mantle of demoralising the opposition now that we've rested the destroyer :rahat

He has excellent judgement.

Unlike Azhar he hasn’t prodded outside off or missed an easy straight delivery.

I can't reveal my sources but the PCB was forced to leave The Rahat back in Pakistan because Cricket Australia didn't want their team to be destroyed inside two and a half days and begged Misbah not to select him.

I'm sure they agreed to a revenue-sharing agreement for ticket sales for any games that progress to days 4 and 5. Just hope it was an official contract and not a MOU :najam

As i said before the start of series Shan's going to need a lot of luck to score runs .

Lucky for Shan. He needs to be careful and get a big score to remain part of the test team.

Aussie got into Shan's head after that blow on the hand and he falls. Next is Haris Sohail who is a lefty and I expect the Aussie pacers to give him the same treatment.

I switch the tv on and the first ball I see is Masood’s wicket.

Like I said, he's not international class.

Shan needs to get a big score soon otherwise his test career might be not too long.

Shan did his job. Just never got the momentum going and that hit on his hand rattled him.
