Pakistan comprehensively defeat South Africa by eight wickets to set up series decider at Cape Town

Dont bowl wide guys we just need 20 quick overs

steyn bowling beautifully here, swinging both ways. Imam and fakhar clueless.

Why is commentary so biased that was struck powerfully by imam

This was Malik's first game (as makeshift Captain) - everything he touched turned gold, but need to see few more games, before drawing a conclusion. Two glaring difference is, he is calm, composed and he empowers bowlers (these are adults, you know, don't need to baby sit every ball). 2nd is that he was always looking for wickets and if track doesn't offer much, tried to crate a choke by restricting singles. The collapse started with Faf's wicket which was almost manufactured, otherwise a set Faf shouldn't have gone for that shot when 275 was on the cards. Today, SAF had only one partnership around 100 and this was the biggest difference - once PAK got one end open, made sure that new batsman doesn't get it easy. Against 4-5 attacking, wicket taking bowlers, if you can make new batsman choke, this sort of collapse can happen.

And, this should always be PAK's game - operate with 10 wickets, rather than 50 overs. Misbah, Azhar & Sarfraz allowed the game to drift away too many times - often one big partnership had beaten PAK. Calculative batting isn't teams strength, neither containment should be the tactics of the bowling unit. Core of PAK cricket is aggressive, attacking bowling.

Finally, I have to say team responded brilliantly to Malik, something PCB needs to notice. May be players are not saying/showing it open, but definitely there is a lack of trust/comfort between Sarfraz & team. Players looked happy today and relaxed. This is definitely not that good a side, but performed even worse than their level - today, they punched above weight; we have to wait a bit to know if it's one off or there is a genuine support (silent) for Malik as Captain.

Why is fakhar so defensive?
He is so low on confidence rn.
1 good knock just one

I try not to dwell too much on body language but fakhar looks defeated at the crease throughout the tour

Probably, he won't be required to bat, but my hunch is Mian is going to send Rizwan at 5 today :)

our fans wouldn't even be happy with a bradman type player.

they'll find something to complain about

I understand their frustration but they should show more patience and that is how players are developed.

While I am also frustrated with Sarfraz’s captaincy but I also know that patience wont do much in this.

Two of the greatest chokers in the history of the game going toe to toe in this series!

our fans have no patience, they are way too fickle.

i think sarfraz we can all agree upon, that he needs to go.

stay home with his family, collect his psl pay cheque and watch with his son and wife and create memories of watching our team play and yelling at the tv instead

Shot Fakhar

Come to think of it, Pakistan should have ben 4-0 up by the end of today.

SA is actually way below India, England and New Zealand

Man silence after every 4 shows the biasedness of the commies

Above Australia though

I think, he is genuinely scared of his spot in squad now and that fear should increase after Sarfraz's departure. The culture of PAK cricket is that, with a change of leadership, few heads also go down, probably Imran was different but every other Captain had their favorites. Fakhar carries a tag of being a player of "Sarfraz era", and he is struggling big time.... rest probably you can understand.

Personally, I'll play FZ at 3 and open with Babar.

Yes and faces of players when playing under him shows they would also like that.

Should send him 2 down to give a nice finishing touch. :)

Hafeez will be upset then - Malik can only exchange his spot as a make shift Captain. In any case, Rizwan ideally shouldn't bat below 5.

Just need one crisp shot from Fakhar and he gets it just as I type

Above Australia though

Even Pakistan are above Australia at the moment.

The real rankings for me at the moment are..

India
New Zealand
England
Bangladesh...Yes Banglandesh
Pakistan
South Africa
Australia
Afghanistan
Sri Lanka
West Indies

Fans need to realize this that Fakhar has an X factor and can change the game on his day. Yes can look ugly on occasions but we dont have many batsmen who can take the game away on their own

This is the ideal opportunity for Fakhar to play himself back into form.

To be fair, SAF even for a seasoned batsman is a tough place to tour. Calling for his axing is crazy - he played nicely in the UAE ODIs v NZ.
