Not all balls needs to be put away with merit. Most of the balls he played with merit today though.

Only play a shot when you are in the position to do so, else there is no different between a proper batsman and a hacker. He was not in a position to sweep, so he should have left that ball especially since there was no scoreboard pressure. He did decide to leave it, but the bat slightly touches the ball.
This is not a soft dismissal but unlucky to get out after playing so well.
