Pakistan defeat Zimbabwe by 8 wickets in 2nd T20I, take unassailable 2-0 series lead

Also people should realize the role which Haider has been given is to go after the bowling and play his natural game while Babar has to ideally carry till 14-15 overs in T20s. He cant start playing consolidator in T20s but in ODIs he should be able to play steady and long innings and unleash his power game in the last 15 overs or so.

Babar is a batting masterclass from which Haider can learn a lot while batting alongside

Nah even in ODI's Babar and Imam are the consolidators, he needs to be that Warner/Bairstow type player for us up front. We can't play this like the 2000's anymore and try to make up for all the accumulating in the last 10-15 overs.

It really must be an honour to bat with Babar. If I were a pro cricketer I would love to bat with this guy and help build partnerships with him. The Perfect player for the development of youngsters

Haider batting well with Babar. His 50 against England came when batting with Hafeez. Probably needs some experience with him in these first few games.

Itel has to be worst mobile along with qmobile from Pakistan

Have never seen anyone using a Pakistani mobile in Pakistan

He played primarily at 4 when he debuted in 2015 because Hafeez had a grip on the #3 spot, then in the England series he even opened. He played at 6 in the 1st ODI against England in 2015 because YK wanted to have one match to retire from ODI's so YK played at 4 in that game. After that 1st ODI he opened in the last 3 games of the series. In fact Babar continued at #4 even in 2016 when Mickey came in as head coach. It wasn't until the Windies Series in 2016 where Hafeez didn't play and Babar scored 3 consecutive hundreds at #3 and took that spot away from Hafeez. I'm pretty sure no matter who was coach after 3 consecutive hundreds anyone would keep him at #3... Babar would have been just fine without Mickey lol.

Babar would have been fine without Mickey? If you remember, Babar was dropped by Misbah from Islamabad United. No sane man would ever drop a player like Babar from the playing XL let alone release him from the squad. Instead, Mickey was KK's head coach and pickup up Babar.

Babar is incredibly lucky that he had a foreign coach for his development period or else he would have lost 5 years like Haris Sohail did.

I understand but, at no 4 and with so little experience its a tough ask especially when fans and experts start to criticize him on every dismissal.

They analyse every ball. Never mind every dismissal.

Did Waqar drop him from the International side? Or did he promote him up the order against England in 2015?

He batted him at 6 against England. Then moved him upto open in the same series. Eventually batted him at 4 then Mickey moved him up.

Babar would have had a good international career without Mickey but Mickey gave him some good technical advice and promoted him to 3. This guidance has helped him to the level he is at as well as his hard work. Mickey played a role in Babar development but he should not take all the credit.

Haider with a 6 towards mid off. He can play all around the ground and hopefully will be more calmer at the crease with experience.

Wasim is quite a mean guy in the commentary box when he wants to be. This is the attitude era Wasim Akram we need!

Also Haris Sohail lost 5 years because he got injured and then could never get fit again. You just love the victim stories in Pakistan don't you if someone fails it's definitely on someone else.

Like I mentioned and maybe if you bothered to read my whole post Babar was being given ample opportunity under even Waqar. Babar has been nurtured since he was a kid he's been brought up since his U-15 days and PCB has done an excellent job developing him, if you want to put that on Mickey just because he's a foreigner, and give no credit to PCB for the work they had done with Babar 10 years before Mickey had anything to do with Pakistan Cricket than you are clearly delusional.

Babar with higher SR than Haider with just proper shots. If going forward Haider can just mix bit of Babar in his own game as he showed with boundaries towards the offside, he will be handful.

Making a sane decision does not signify anything on Waqar's part. Didn't Waqar call back an out of form Nasir Jamshed for the 15' WC in place of an injured Hafeez? It would be an insult to the profession of coaching to call Waqar a coach.

Bro I already explained why he batted him at 6 in the other post I quoted you in.

Babar should try to finish games rather than relaxing and giving his wicket at the end..

The argument at hand has nothing to do with assessing the performance of Waqar as a head coach. It's about how Babar would have been fine no matter who was coach.

Bhai ye log tu abhi babar se b satisfy nai hoay, inkay standard pr ** indian player he pora aa sktay, inferiority complex at its best.

Do you see any English fan saying 'The Big Test for Banton will be New Zealand or Australia'

Just let the 19 year old play cricket for crying out loud!

The 5 years Haris Sohail lost were before he got selected. He was dominating FC cricket for years before he finally got called up.

Yeah he's been pretty grumpy this series :)) Can probably get away with it while commentating for PTV instead of Sky :wasim

Ok but nevertheless Babar was already in the side so this argument still makes no sense. People just don't want to accept the fact that PCB did a good job nurturing Babar.

You can blame Haris for his shortcoming of fitness in his mid-30s but not when he was blasting in domestics from 2011-2015 and Misbah/Waqar didn't give him a run. Instead, they stuck with the likes of Akmals and Shehzad.

PCB certainly deserves credit for nurturing Babar from a very young age but we saw how Babar was treated by the current Pakistani coach at Islamabad United. Most Pakistani coaches would have dropped him from the test squads after a few failures similar to what was done to Umar in 2010. To say Mickey didn't play a large hand in Babar finding his feet at international cricket would be unjust to Mickey.

Its a shame that Abdullah will only be able to get one game out of total of 6 in the series. Hopefully he just doesnt magically disappear from the squads going forward if he doesn’t deliver in his debut match. Being selected for Pakistan should mean a considerable number of opportunities.

You're point about Haris has no correlation here then, because Babar had already been selected and was being given ample opportunity under Waqar. Misbah wasn't even a coach back then he was a player, so please explain to me where you're assumption that Babar would have been wasted under any other coach apart from Mickey applies?

Also Misbah was captain and even after the horrid Aussie test series they stuck with him.

Exactly the point I am making. Pakistani coaches simply don't have the expertise to develop players and help in the transition from domestic to international. Underperforming players are simply dropped like Babar from ISLU rather than fine-tune the issues. Otherwise, they will let a player ride out their prime and select them in their mature years aka Sohail Khan and Zulfiqar.

The way Haider milked Mazurabani in last over (The best pacer from Zimbabwe) has been good to watch.

So why couldn't Mickey the great develop anybody aside from Babar? If Mickey were such a genius shouldn't we have 5-7 players the caliber of Babar in the team right now?

Youngsters finishing it off for Pakistan. Haider not out on 66

Good win now I swear we better bat first in the next T20I :)) Want to see Babar get his hundred!

If i go down the path of name calling and insults, it wont end well for you. If you cant argue in a civil manner then dont make bold claims such as 'The test will be New Zealand'. This is a 19 year old batsman.

I would appreciate you abstain from writing off our talent in other discussions when you clearly are hoping for them to fail.

I don't hope he fails. I have been praising him throughout the thread.

How does me saying " he will be tested against New Zealand " mean I want him to fail? Where does it say I want him to fail ? Your twisting words to your agenda.

So if he gets 5x0 in the NZ series at the age of 19, he is a failure?
and if he gets 5x50 in the NZ series at the age of 19, he is the next Viv Richards?

Pakistani coaches lack the ability to select the right players and then develop them. The duo of Misbah and Waqar failed to pickup Haris in his prime. Babar was only given the chance and was stuck with because he was being groomed by the PCB for years which you had acknowledged earlier. Misbah, the current Pakistani coach didn't have the brains to comprehend how much potential Babar has and went on to drop him from lack of patience at ISLU.

Yes I agree Misbah is a horrendous coach, but Misbah was still a player in 2015 not a coach. You even just said it yourself PCB had groomed Babar for years he would have done good because of this no matter who the coach was, as he was backed by the PCB. I'll give Mickey some credit for sure for instilling Babar with confidence but Mickey and Grant Flower ain't no batting geniuses now they did not make Babar who he is today. Babar was nurtured from a very young age and put in a position, ironically by the PCB itself to succeed.

Batting first Pak would have made 190 odd...and then could easily bundle out Zimbos... Need two spinners..rest Wahab....and may play Abdullah in place of Fakhar though he is not a t20 bat.....pleased to see Haider playing maturely...but still he was going all leg sidish at the start.... Good thing he tried to play as straight as he can

Isn't Shaddy the VC now in limited over although ISLU also deserves credit for Shaddy? Fakhar and Hassan were both picked up by Mickey and continued to work with them. Hassan went on to be the player of the year but lacks the brain to become a better player. He let the short term success get to him head and a coach cannot do anything about a mentally weak player. Last but not least, he stuck with Shaheen whom Misbah was calling to be dropped in the WC.
