South Africa have been poor in the field, and their running between wickets. Also gifted wickets throughout the series by playing lose.

This has helped Pakistan to be ahead. With the home conditions in their favour they are able to rest the advantage. There's nothing wrong with it though every time has the right to be sher at home.
 
They should try to put bad balls away. Don't need to go into a shell
 
Problem with Azhar Ali is that he always looks in panic mode.
 
maharaj has improved a lot , very good lines.

This is going to be a very sedate partnership.

The uneven bounce is there too.

200 could be tricky to chase.
 
Based upon much ups and downs we have seen in the two tests, it could have easily been a 3 test series.

Yes definitely has been pretty difficult out there in this innings.
 
SA should not just have a sniff. I think now they look very much the favourites. Well done to Pak batting. They are amazingly poor.
 
Pakistan came out with such a defensive mindset. Scratching around as if they were facing McGrath, Warne, Marshall.

Yes the pitch is tricky but at least show some positivity.
 
Time to maybe counter attack a bit as surviving isnt looking an easy task
 
Azhar spending an eternity at the crease, hardly moving the score along, and gets out.

Once again it's all on Fawad, Rizwan and Faheem.
 
Out comes another batsman who cannot play spin to save his life. Atleast maybe he will have the common sense to play at a fast pace

Azhar Ali has always been an impactless player and boring to watch.
 
Speaks volumes of Pak batting when we have to rely on Azhar and Baber to win the game.

Lol pitch is a flat pancake it’s just that these 2 teams are league 2 type teams missing straight balls.

Any batsman worth there salt would have scored 150 on his own!!
 
Pakistan effectively 134/4 . Not very impressive but the Saffrs are even worse so it's probably a strong lead already
 
Need a counterattack and transfer the pressure instead of playing into their hands.

Exactly, you need to be able to judge where the ball is gonna pitch. A guy like Maharaj isn't getting too much drift, so you could tell from the loop where the ball is gonna pitch.

Either get forward or stay back, otherwise, go back to the pavilion.
 
This session will decide the match. We need sumone to bail pakistan out here :facepalm:

Wicket is flat

Doesn't help we start two down every innings and our batsmen keep missing straight balls ��

Problem isnt just the straight balls rather some spinning in between. No excuse for the batting display but, its not easy out there.

Bat out this session, and get to 180 runs if possible without losing another wicket. Bat the two morning sessions where the ball is less likely to spin much, and set no less than 300 if we want to win.

Get lost with these product placements, it's a Test match not PSL for god sake.
 
So far, both Babar, Azhar, and Abid have gotten out to LA spin.

Fawad needs to realize this and hog the strike. Needs to play a masterstroke of an innings here.

I wouldn't try to sweep the ball too much because Linde generates more bounce whereas Maharaj is gonna try to keep the ball on middle, so a sweep shot that you miss is a guaranteed wicket.

I agree completely.

I don't think Fawad has gotten out to spin this series, I might be mistaken.

Saud would have nullifed Maharaj and Linde.
 
Looking at how we are huffing and puffing to beat a poor South Africa at home, the likes of England, New Zealand and Australia will certainly beat us comfortably.

Fans should accept that we are now going to lose frequently at home. We have been a poor home team in Pakistan since the mid 90’s and that trend is going to continue.

Valid points but, thing is Pak batsmen have allowed all the bowlers to keep on bowling in a channel so need to disturb their lines and lengths a bit. Its not easy but few such shots being executed well will push the SA and bowlers a bit on the backfoot

Nauman Bhai would have had two if Rizwan took the catch and if Babar took the review.
 
Saw likes of Inzamam and Younis grind out valuable scores so many times on these up and down pitches.

These situations are where batsmen are judged.

Result matter..
 
Take nothing away from South Africa, they have fought hard in every session besides maybe one or two in this series!

I'd rather our batsmen come down the track and flick the ball rather than sweep.

The better option is for Fawad to take maximum ownership of the strike, as he plays spin quite comfortably.

Right now, I think Maharaj or Linde will be rested for a spell of Rabada + Nortje.

really hoping uncle Nauman runs through the saffers with a 6fer. The stage is set for him tbh!
 
The only reason Pakistan has escaped humiliation in this series is because South Africa have batted awfully.

They have thrown away more than 50% of the wickets. If wasn’t even great bowling.

Overall, we have played very average cricket in all departments. Truly a mediocre team.
 
Babar is just a decent player in test cricket and he is no way near to Younas, Misbah, Yousaf, Inzi etc. He was poor in Manchester test too and so as karachi.
