Pakistan face uphill battle for survival after Australia take a 300-run 2nd innings lead at Stumps on Day 3 of the 1st Test

Horrible way to get out for a set batsman.

Imam will get pelters and rightfully so, but those asking him to up his run rate also need to sit down.
Why do something you aren't comfortable with.
Poor from Bobsy as well after doing all the hard work, but that can happen. Ball bounced a bit more than expected.
Long long way back now. Just need to keep batting time

For once I thought Pakistan might be able to draw a Test in Australia.

Sarfraz fans disperse.

Feel bad for them. They just never learn. Taking Sarfraz outside of Asia = big mistake.
Yup seniority complex. He was fine for Asian conditions but will be exposed here in batting and keeping.

Can pak not even draw a single test in Australia. This is just ludicrous.

They keep losing every test match

Sarfaraz did well to make sure just 1 stump gets uprooted. Overrated Rizwan would have let 2 stumps uprooted here.

It's classic Pakistan to have Rizwan who averages 40+ in every SENA country he's played in sitting in the bench while TTF Sarf who averages about 22/23 in SENA is picked at keeper instead.

So what does defensive batting get you after 2 days ? No where! At the end of the day you have to score runs.......

Sarfraz out a pacer as soon as he faces one in Australia? Wow what a surprise, who could have seen a player who can't play pace and has never scored in SENA would be struggling in Australia at the ripe age of 37.

This pathetic defensive mindset will not be enough for draws, let alone winning. They need to learn to score faster with positive cricket.

One bad innings and Rizwan's cult fans coming out in droves

Sarfraz at 37 is 10 times the batsmen Legwan will ever be, just look at how brilliant he was vs New Zealand

Don't worry this will be the only time in the series you guys will celebrate
There is huge difference between playing in Pakistan and Australia .in subcontinent most of the over bowl by spinners so sarfaraz played good innings

Sarfraz has the ability to score big outside the subcontinent it's just about being patient
Lmao, not at this age. Come out of this fantasy already. He’s unfit.

I am ready to move on from both Rizwan and Sarfraz. No need to feel you have to pledge allegiance to either.

Babar got a good start which he should have converted into a big one, but played that lazy shot. Imam threw it away and Sarfaraz was always a walking wicket in these conditions. Our middle order so far have shown zero fight and threw away all the hard work which was done by the top 3. And all that just before lunch. I feel like yelling and crying after watching this team play test cricket in Australia. Unbelievable

Everyone hopes he performs well and benefits the team.

If I were Masood, I would sit these guys down and ask them if they seriously want to play cricket under my captaincy. Does not look like a team that want to play cricket together

Pathetic slow batting always leads to a collapse. We have seen this time and time again.

Unfortunately some fans were happy with snail paced batting. It has always been Pakistan's downfall.

Not one bad inns, take his record in SENA countries compared to what he achieved against spinners in sub-continent pitches...

Australia has always been the difficult side and the pitches here are true in terms of pace and bounce... Batters skill against pace is tested here.. Sarfraz surely an unfit here unless he develops skill to play pace bowling..certainly not at the age of 37.

Comparatively Rizwan better player against pace and holds good track record here in this part of the world... Im sure he will be doing the gloves next test and Sarfraz will need to sit out for him...The more important thing is glove work, Sarfraz is missing on a lot of chances.. The slip cordon also mark their places by judging where the keeper is standing, so there is a lot to offer as a keeper , Sarfraz is surely lacking in that aspect..

Im also interested to see Saud how he can cope with pace here , who is similar to what Sarfraz is the spin track bullies.

Babar Azam Outside Pakistan Since August 2022

Innings - 36
Runs - 953
Average - 28
100s - 0
Ducks - 3
That's his level. He is masquerading as some great batsman. He really isn't. Rizzu is way better. Even shafique is better.

In odi he is terrible in almost any crucial game.

Please keep expectations low Pak won the 1 session per test yesterday afternoon the one where imam & shafiqe were dead batting everything Aussies were rattled Job done.

Even if their prime batter Babar is struggling , wat else to expect from others...

Babar during his last tour had sth to prove and was determined... This time around he needs motivation which is very less comparatively... Initially he even opted to sit out this series due to fatigue and captaincy row, but was forced in by PCB...

There has to be ruthlessness in selections, just because Sarfraz is senior and he played domestic because he had nothing els to do , should not lead to him being selected, who is the no.1 keeper in Pakistan seletor and captain should be clear, look at Arteta who has clarity in his approach

How many times have we seen Pak losing 2-3 wickets in 2-3 overs for 10 -15 runs and elevate the opposition into driver seat...

Opposition is always on the hunt for this , knowing the nature of Pak team ...

203 for 6 at lunch is not by any means, a score that you would feel safe on. Pakistan will soon be bundled out

you've got to question the ability of Imam when after facing 190+ deliveries he gets stumped, clearly shows the weakness in his game

Well they kinda forgot to score.

They have batted looong now and are still in follow on territory. This is no way to bat in tests.

Happens when you have put no pressure of runs on the opposition. Seen it way too many times now.

You can't just get away with dead batting in tests. It's a recipe for collapse.

What an ugly dismissal by Sarfraz. Looked no different than Khurram Shahzad with the bat.

Hopefully this match will prevail some sense in management and Rizwan will become the first choice WK.

That dismissal is a sign of a batter who's slow to see pace. He's 37. His reflexes are getting slower.

Sarfraz no doubt is good on slow and low pitches but this Australia not Karachi.

Intellectual dishonesty
1. Imam style of batting doesn't fit shan style of playing but yet he got picked over saim.
2. Babar Azam played with no intent looked under extreme pressure and if he doesn't perform in second innings maybe time to give him and Shaheen good long rest... apparently newcomers are performing better than experienced ones...
3. Sarfraz need to be shown the door once and for all.
4. Wether win or loose Shan should force the whole team to be aggressive from this point on just to get the message across.
5. Whole day of batting and if anyone defends imam innings simply is clueless a out modern cricket.
Guy looks like he is walking around wearing a diaper and if he hits a boundary he gets as happy as a number 11 does... and he is supposedly an opener....
6. DROP BABAR and SHAHEEN and send a message that Noone is bigger than game...

Imam 62 is now a problem didn't help team good for him personally but bad for Pakistan Long term because saim won't get a chance by these dummies.. and here is an example of munafqat and dishonesty with country and job.

It is hilarious how some posters are hell-bent on proving that we lost 3 quick wickets because the top order batted at a snail pace. That has nothing to do with how Babar played that lazy shot and how Imam threw it all away after doing all the hard work. and nothing new from Sarfaraz in these conditions. This is not odi cricket where the middle order can blame the top 3 for playing slow

When I saw Shaheen shah afridi bowling one word came to my mind
Brainless and duunger cricketer no thinking ability..
So does go for Harris Rauf....
I'm having same ideas about how babar played today it looked like he doesn't have any clue about match situation shot selections anymore...

These pitches are excellent to bat on if you show a bit of intent. May be one player can play anchor role. Others should still show intent.

Just checked the score.

What a disaster.

Did Babar at least get out to a good one?

Let's hope that the so-called depth they sacrificed for comes in handy because the top-order was useless.

Need to arrange meditation sessions for our players as they have worse attention spans than goldfish. If yoga is too unIslamic for them, they should slow down their tahajjud salaat to 1 rakaat per hour and focus on every letter of what they are reciting.

Follow on doesn't matter. Aus will never enforce it.

Those 3 wickets this morning were so frustrating. Ball is not doing anything at the moment.

That was almost unplayable delivery against Sarfaraz... And lacked of footwork.. the chances of survival became low..

It was a good setup by marsh, short , short and then Same line and fuller, but it bounced extra.

In hind sight there was no need to play that line.

These are simple and obvious decisions. You can play Sarfraz in asian conditions and go with Rizwan in SENA conditions.

Rizwan has a 40+ average in England, NZ & Australia. Sarfraz average is less than 20 in both NZ & SA, 25 in England & 33 in Australia. These are woeful numbers and he is super old & way past his prime. His keeping itself is beyond horrific.

You want to play him in Asian conditions over Rizwan? Fine. Sarfraz has been amazing batting in SL, Bangladesh, Pakistan & UAE because pace is not much of a factor in those conditions. But in SENA conditions? It makes no sense. These are simple logical decisions and our so called think tank can't even get that right.

The last recognized pair is on the crease now. Can't see Pakistan scoring more than 300 here.

I guess on a positive note he didn't completely throw it away but that's not good enough for someone of his skill.

He'll need to be better or this will be a brutal beatdown throughout the series.

Saud looking good.

Just needed at least one of Babar, Shan or Abdullah to keep playing…

Shan should axe Imam, and move to open instead. And then play an extra batsman.

Gorgeous shot Shakeel.

I hope he is successful here. Has been our best test batsman since his debut.
