Pakistan face uphill battle for survival after Australia take a 300-run 2nd innings lead at Stumps on Day 3 of the 1st Test

Jamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

almost boundary... 3 runs!

Need Salman to take a single and let Jamaal loose at these AUssie bowlers.

No body seem to be picking a very basic flaw in our batsmen technique ie they are falling over...

Uptill now I have seen just a couple of balls hit that have been outside leg stump....simply because our batsmen are falling over.....while when the ausssies were batting they hit 90% of the balls bowled down the leg

Honestly throughout this series you need to smash marsh out of the attack. Starc and Hazlewood are recharging their batteries. Marsh is soo crucial to this setup.
And Lyon. If you can take these 2 out, job is done. Main bowlers will have to keep bowling again and fatigue builds.

Shaheen needs to hit... Salman is playing for his place in the side and has to remain not out.

Commies says Salman has been Stoic.

No SIr! He is playing for his place in the XI and is desperate to stay not out.

Dont understand fans thinking.

Do you want him to throw his wicket away like Imam or Babar ?

Maybe he is not that good but he is still out in the middle while others are back in the hut.

But the man who stays out always gets labelled " a selfish turd" while others get labelled selfless for being in pavilion.

Shaheen says No Sir! Salman, you score some runs.

Plays out a maiden over

7 session left and probably Australia will bat for another 2.5 session to set target around 450

It is hilarious how some posters are hell-bent on proving that we lost 3 quick wickets because the top order batted at a snail pace. That has nothing to do with how Babar played that lazy shot and how Imam threw it all away after doing all the hard work. and nothing new from Sarfaraz in these conditions. This is not odi cricket where the middle order can blame the top 3 for playing slow
It is indeed , understand the conditions are foreign and the ball is new seam and swinging around , but after 20 overs being at the crease the batters should be well settled and expected to start scoring freely... Didnt happen with Pak openers..

Except Shan and Saud all of them batted at a snail pace not even 50 SR .... Imam , Shafique, Babar , Salman have they batted at 50 SR atleast then Imam would have got a 90 or 100, Shafique with a 60 plus + extras would have taken another 10 - 20 + 10 more runs for Babar and Salman each and the score would be a 100 more now ...

typically 360/9 in 100 overs batting at a rate of 3.6 RR is atleast wat Zimbabwe and Bangladesh would do.. Pak snailing at 2.6 against a normal Aus bowling attack..

Aus should give chances to Scott Boland Sean Abbot and Lance Morris and rest Cummins, Starc and Jossh,

42 overs remaining and 2 whole days to go...

Pakistan can still draw this game by playing out max overs possible.

Once again, same issues. This is not the way to bat in Australia.

We will be smashed by record margins once again, nothing to see here.

300 is par of what I and I suppose most fans expected from this batting line up. A bit of disappointment that none of the batters after getting starts could go on and score big runs.

Australia will bat for another 55 over then Pakistan have to face around 140 overs

I reckon the only session we might have won so far is when openers dead batted everything yesterday.

But it was a curse because if you end up at 100 runs in 60 overs for no loss, you are still 400 runs short of target.

Unless the thought is to draw the match even before setting foot on the pitch.

Pakistan is all out for 271. Look at this sorry scorecard for Pakistan.

This is not a 470 pitch, but it is also not a 270 pitch. Really needed to score another 100 or so runs. Who is going to put their hand up and score a 100?

Disappointing stuff and Pakistan won’t recover from this whole tour . Chasing 600 surely here

Saud looking good.

Just needed at least one of Babar, Shan or Abdullah to keep playing…

Shan should axe Imam, and move to open instead. And then play an extra batsman.
Shan have to be careful with that, by doing so he will lose his place in the side.. He is doing ok at the moment at no.3... Better to replace with Saim but Imam was the top scorer and secured his place for this series pretty much... he has to get a pair in the next test to be dropped from the 3rd test..

Shan need runs under his belt as a captain and also to keep his place in the side...

NO , Aus also would like to finish them off quickly and go home..

Aus will set 450+ as target and which they can set it by lunch at the latest tmw and ask this gully boys to bat like snail to save the test and lose their in that process pretty much same old story... And then a cake cutting celebration for reaching 400+ in the chase and probably saud or salman scoring a scratchy 100 :)....

Australia is bossing the game with a massive lead of 216 runs and Pakistan are miles behind. The lower order didn't contribute much today.

The longer the Australian innings can go in the second innings, the better for Pakistan. Longer they bat, less overs for Pakistan to survive and secure a draw.. From Pakistan's POv, Australia shall bat till Tea tomorrow and for that Pakistan will have to continue picking up wickets to slow down the run rate.

Some easy runs for Warner on offer before his Test career comes to an end, it's a dream series against Pakistan before hanging up your boots. Can retire on a super high.

Goneezaaaa
Khurram shazad
Wthell height says 6'1

He does not look 6'1 lol.

Both Babar and Afridi needs to go along with Imam who just waste ball score nothing

Imam out stumped. Pretty ugly dismissal.
Imam forced himself to play such shot after playing at a snail SR... had he batted atleast 50 SR he would be well placed with a 100+ score and wouldnt have rushed for such shots..

This is where Pak become vulnerable by playing slow and at snails pace not event the regular test match standards... had shafique and imam scored at atleast 50 SR the team would have been batting at 240 or 250-4 when Imam got out

Took us an entire innings to learn to bowl here.. still good to finally see though. ☺️

After such a good start 271 all-out. Disappointed performance
We were lucky to score 271. This team deserve to be out under 150 when you have Imam, Fahim, over-hyped Babar, over-aged Sarfraz, tuktuk Shafiq and hit/miss Shan as batsman.

Hardly any crowd in such a beautiful stadium. Such a disappointing turnaround for a weekend. Interest for test cricket dying in Australia? @Junaids

I don't get the Imam hate today. While I think he is over-rated. He was our highest scorer and probably fatigued the Aussie pacers a bit. Yes, he played at snail pace but in this case it didn't hurt.
