The title says it all. In this data, I have only included tournaments of World Cup, T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy. Throughout the history, Pakistan have always lost in ICC tournament whenever they played 2nd Semifinal. This includes the :

1) Loss to West Indies in 1983 World Cup second SF
2) Loss to New Zealand in 2009 Champions Trophy second SF
3) Loss to Australia in 2010 T20 2nd SF
3) Loss to India in 2011 World Cup played as 2nd SF

Whenever, they have won any tournament, they always played the first semifinal. This includes 1992 World Cup, 2009 T20 World cup and Champions Trophy 2017.

Mind you, playing in the first semifinal, we have also lost tournaments. That includes loss to Australia in 1987 and 2012 T20 loss to Srilanka. But if you calculate the probability of playing the first semifinal and winning the tournament versus playing the second semifinal and winning the tournament is 3/0.

This time around, we are playing the second semifinal in Dubai on Thursday. My heart bleeds green but I fear the worst. Especially we have lost to Australia in T20 World Cup 2nd Semifinal 11 years ago in 2010 and right now, Australia is peaking at the right time

Your post is full of superstition. Stay positive, every day is a new day. History changes and records are made to be broken

In the history of WCs, we've never beaten India. Cheers to setting new trends

I think it is negative thinking.

Pakistan have to feel positive. This is a new tournament.

In t20 world cup history no team has ever had a perfect run and won the the cup. If Pakistan beat Scotland tonight and end up winning the world cup they will be the first team in t20 world cup history to go unbeaten and win the whole thing

Like the previous poster mention records and history are meant to be broken and changed

Is it not the first time we have reached the semis of a tournament without losing a single match?

Gotta look at the positives as well.

Just the stat guys, take it easy. No need to call me superstitious or negative when I am just throwing numbers at you

and we have always lost to india in world cup, so I think it is the time to change the history. God willing, fancy our chances.

Ominous signs. I’m quaking in my boots now. This stat has ruined my Sunday.

In history we have always lost to India in WC too. History is just that, history.

Interesting so is there a chance of 3rd SF or an eliminator this is stoneage thinking :saf

I do think stats matter, but after Ind win, my hope are high. Fancy beating Aus and eng, it will be a dream run and we are allowed to dream.

Pakistan has been a team that is setting new benchmark and has been trendsetters all through this tournament. I expect this will continue in the semi finals and finals also.

So? What does that got anything to do with us reaching the semi finals?

This is a new team anthis is such a weird stat that makes no sense.

We also hadn't defeated India in the WC prior to this tournament. Records are supposed to be broken.

Oh boy. Seriously. Do you believe in black magic or something??
If anything it helps to have 1 more rest day.
Playing in dubai means practically like playing at home vs a non Asian side.
What more can you ask for. Abu Dhabi would have been more difficult as we played less there, it has bigger boundaries and our six hits usually are not as big compared to aussie six hits so more likely to get caught. Plus Dubai is the place where Shaheen got most swing.

Absolute rubbish post:)) Not meant to offend you. Its how you play is what matters the most.
Pakistan are playing brilliantly. I guess its because Pakistan fans are so accustomed to being disappointed that these superstitious posts comes into play.:)))
Pakistan will win inshallah.

Please post something positive that lifts spirits and gives hope.

You got a lot of hate because stats do lie, we beat India less then 3 weeks ago.

Lol even if this stat is correct and shows Pakistan doesn't win second semi-final, it is just so irrelevant.

Semi-Final defeats

Pakistan were playing their 11th semi-final in World Cup history and lost at the penultimate hurdle for the seventh time, the second most by any team after New Zealand, who have suffered eight defeats in semi-finals.

The last time Pakistan reached the final of a World Cup was in 2009 when they won the T20 tournament by defeating Sri Lanka at Lord’s. Since then, they have lost four semi-finals in a row – in the Cricket World Cup in Mohali (2011) and T20 World Cups in Saint Lucia (2010), Colombo (2012) and Dubai (2021).

Australia on the other hand have lost only three out of 12 World Cup semi-finals.
