Select Nawaz for Nauman and Naseem for Faheem for 2nd test.Nawaz can bat.He used to open.Extra pace of Naseem will trouble Bangla batsmen.

Would be unfair to drop Faheem. He hasn't done much wrog when it comes to test cricket. Always makes a useful contribution with the bat like he has in this match...

This is only the second time ever that Pakistan's openers have put on century stands in both innings. The first was against South Africa in 2003.

cant lose early wickets tomorrow or bat negatively or we will let bangladesh back into the match. worry is our middle order does look poor against spin.

Faheem just needs to improve his bowling, cannot be dropped yet, needs a few more chances. Nauman can be replaced by Nawaz, and if Sajid does not IMPROVE, Zahid has to be tried next match

How come Taijul was neutralized in the second innings?

How come Taijul was neutralized in the second innings?

Our openers played him well in 1st inns to. Both batsmen have used good footwork to negate him, also played him pretty straight and just waited for bad ball but picked up singles. rest of batting looks clueless as they just block and allow spinners to gain rythme.

thats the worry tomorrow with Azhar in at 3 and his usual block block rubbish.

Not a long way to go at all. Match is very much almost over.

Bangladesh need to get 10 wickets in a session to win - not impossible but highly unlikely. Match is 95% with Pakistan now.

Took get 10 wickets for 92 runs will require a herculian effort from Bangladesh - literally a once in a generation type performance. The kind of thing you see happen once every 20-30 years. As I said not impossible but HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY unlikely.

Pakistan just need to get through the first half hour tomorrow. Even if we've lost a couple of wickets, that's fine. Bangladesh need probably 4 wickets in the first half hour.

Pakistan went to stumps on day four on 109/0, needing 93 more runs to go 1-0 up in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

Pakistan have dominated the second-half of this Test. They were 40-odd runs short of Bangladesh's first-innings total but a solid bowling performance in the second innings, backed up with an equally impressive batting one has put them in the driver's seat.

Abid Ali and Abdullah Shaqfiue look confident. They started the innings unsurely, getting a feel of the situation, even survived a review in the second over but managed to get to tea unscathed. They slowly built their confidence in the final session, defending first, then punishing the bad balls to emulate their solid first-innings partnership.

The duo have brought up their respective fifties and ensured Pakistan remained in control until the end. With only 93 more needed to win, 10 wickets in hand, and a full days play left, Pakistan will fancy their chances of getting the better of the hosts tomorrow.

The visitors had the perfect start to the day as Hasan Ali snapped up the dangerous Mushfiqur Rahim in the first over, uprooting his off-stump, ensuring Bangladesh did not recreate the Mushfiqur-Liton stand of the first innings.

With half their side, the onus fell on Liton once again to stabilise the innings and the gutsy batsman did just that, playing his shots, keeping the scoreboard ticking, even surviving a review on 26. At the other end, Mehidy Hasan did his job just as well, eating up the deliveries, keeping his wicket and rotating the strike.

Their 72-run stand was finally broken by Sajid Khan as Bangladesh lost a review, with Mehidy trapped in front for a fighting 44-ball 11. At Lunch, Bangladesh were 115/6 with a lead of just over 150 runs.

Liton and Nurul Hasan, who had survived a Pakistan review for caught behind in the over before lunch, started the second session well. Liton soon brought up his fifty, his second fifty-plus score in the game. But the flourishing partnership was cut short in the next over when Sajid Khan removed Nurul for 15.

Afridi then dismissed Liton (59) and Abu Jayed (0) in the space of four deliveries while Sajid scalped the remaining one to bowl Bangladesh out for 157. Shaheen got his fourth five-wicket haul in Tests, while Sajid finished with a three-for.

Bangladesh will start with a wicket in the first 10 minutes tomorrow. It remains to be seen what will happen after that.

We just need 1 guy to add 25 runs tomorrow and then the remaining 9 wickets can get an average of 7.5 runs and we will win.

Just a thought...

2021: QEA Trophy
Leading Runs: Kamran Ghulam
Leading Wickets: Sajid Khan

2020 QEA Trophy
Leading Runs: Imran Butt
Leading Wickets: Nauman Ali

Is this the right approach or shall we look deeper than stats and figures?

I think pitches have to be taken into account. The pitches in this season have been completely flat.Batsmen are scoring double centuries. There is nothing for the bowlers. In other seasons pitches were difficult for batting. Many trundled we’re getting lots of wickets. One way to find out is to arrange more A tours abroad esp SENA countries. If someone performs consistently in away tours and in home conditions then he should get a chance.

This is why we have a selection committee. If it was just down to stats then we could just ditch the committee and select a team based only on these figures.

Of course there is more to it.

Context, technique, conditions etc

If you don't follow this approach, the media will eat the selection committee alive. Domestic performances should be rewarded as that will add value to domestic cricket where domestic cricket participants will get the confidence that domestic performances will be rewarded

Very disappointed with Pakistan team selection. This was the ideal series to take some risks and bring in new talent before stiffer tests. They went part way there by selecting Abdullah Shafiq. But what the heck is Azhar still doing the team???? Get Saud Shakeel in!!! But no, they bottled it. The seniority issue strikes again!!

And Nauman is rubbish. Mohammad Nawaz clearly the better option. Even the leg spinner Mahmood. And Shadab to replace Faheem please (in next series). Also, this was the test series to bring back Naseem and give him confidence. Instead, the fools will bring him in against Aussies!

Yasir's concussion was a vital moment, the guy was looking very solid and unlikely to get out.

What team would you have picked? Let's see your XI!

Toothless bowling from Bangladesh.

Pakistan should get a 10-wicket win or a 9-wicket win tomorrow.

1. Abid (until someone better comes along. I'm not a fan)
2. Abdullah
3. Saud Shakeel (anyone but Azhar)
4. Babar - the skip
5. Fawad (unfortunate choice - only till someone better comes along - hopefully soon. I'm not a fan)
6. Rizwan - undroppable
7. Shadab - has to be the all rounder - not Faheem. We need a proper bowler)
8. Mohammed Nawaz - surely better then the 2 spin clowns playing now
9. Hassan Ali (not a fan - but has to stay in for now. Look for better option)
10. Shaheen - undroppable
11. Naseem Shah (why oh why oh why oh why wasnt he played in this test v a weak team for confidence?? The Bengalis have no clue v short balls and Naseem would have had a field day). The long term answer.

Numbers 1, 5, 8, 9 need replacing asap. For now we have to keep them.

I suspect we would have lost the match with this team.

I'll take Saud Shakeel instead of Azhar but to play a test in Bangladesh with no front line spinner is basically handing the match to the opposition on a plate and telling them to help themselves

Let it go with azhar stop bashing him now he cannot survive long in the team for sure that's how our system works you cannot sack senior players just like that when azhar wants to retire he will which is not far away now. We have bashed him already since his 2nd test.

This pakistan side looks like it will fold like a deck of cards as soon as they have to play outside of Asia.
Can't see them getting into the top 3 test sides anytime soon.

Not particularly so. Just toured England last year. Lost the aeries but didnt fold like a deck of cards.

Pakistan should get a 10-wicket win or a 9-wicket win tomorrow.

Taijul could still be a threat early morning. In this test match, most of the wickets have fallen in the morning session. Perhaps it has to do with the rolling over night

Morning session will be crucial for Pakistan

positive start needed with no stupid wickets lost. if we do Azhar needs stop this habit og killing momentum of inns with his stupid blocking.

Azhar's dismissal in the 1st innings was embarrasing - he missed the ball by a country mile with this tentative prod.

Our front line spinners have both been awful. Shaheen has bowled the most devastating spell and the Bengalis really struggled with his extra pace. Naseem would have taken a hatful of wickets in this test. We don't have to go with spinners for the sake of it. Only if they are good enough. Windies battered everyone for years with a 4 pronged pace attack - no spin (and test cricket was far stronger then in my opinion).

Shadab isn't a proper bowler However he's good as all rounder.
