Pakistan recover well to reach 212/4 at Stumps on Day 1 of the 2nd Test against the West Indies

These two need to just keep on going with their heads down and concentration levels up. A substantial partnership from them is required
 
Babar has been standing too much in the crease against Myers
 
Kyle Mayers bowls at the same pace as Abbas except Mayers looks very casual while bowling.
 
Need a Kamran Akmal Karachi 06 knock here.

On these pitches, only those succeed who either counter attack or have airtight defense like Kallis, Dravid or Chanderpaul.
 
WI going in with three specialist bowlers , this is an issue with them , you cannot rely on part time bowlers in Test Matches. They should have played one more specialist spinner.

He has a far higher ceiling than Abbas who is very limited and can only bowl new ball with assistance. After that he's useless.
 
WI bowlers look so average. Gone are the days of Walsh and Ambrose. These guys just keep bowling in 120s and hope to get a nick.

Surely he is class apart from Pak batsmen but, to get the status amongst top batsmen of the world in test he needs to take his level up a notch. He is skillful enough in my opinion to play in every condition but, just showing that with a 40-50 isnt enough, needs to be ruthless and score big on such surfaces to be in first tier of test cricket.
 
Windies will regret bowling first. I dont know how they expect their rubbish batting lineup to bat in 4th innings.

I think that would only come into play if Pak scores around 250. Otherwise just like first test even 30-40 runs lead at Sabina Park can be the difference between winning and losing a which WI got in the first match. As Pak’s batting has been horrible as well so far in the series.

As I tune in, I see that common sense has not prevailed.

The decision to send Nawaz back has been costly. He could have slotted in ahead of Nauman to provide us with a more reliable layer of batting given the top order struggles.

I'd expect us to barely win, or lose by a small margin.
 
I feel this is gonna be a low scoring match like 1st test unless Pak scores like 400 in first innings and wrap the match in 3 days.
 
WI session. only needs a couple more wickets and pakistan are in an even bigger hole then they are now.
 
I think we all figured 3 wickets down by lunch.. so considering when those wickets came..its pretty good fightback ... If last test is any indication .we need to get this total into the mid 200's and match can still be won. One of Fawad or Babar will likely fall soon so we need tail to join in the fun.

Yes he should get runs, but I don't understand this mentality that he must get the runs cos everyone around him is failing miserably. Why should he do all the work?

He's not the only batsman or A contract guy in the side. If no one else can score or Misbah keeps selecting turkeys then I don't blame Babar if he wants to put his feet up and let someone else carry the can.

At the end of the day, everyone should contribute, this is how you become the best teams, not bring in others just to have a vacation in the Caribbean or wherever the next tour happens to be.
 
Babar has played some top class strokes

I would really love for him to try number 3 or opener. Pakistan can only then bring in a couple of much needed middle order batsmen such as Saud and Kamran
 
WI will always bowl rubbish deliveries frequently u just got to stay the wicket. Babar has capitalised he's played a spotless innings so far

Valid point but, I think when people talk about Babar they consider what a batsman of his skillset and potential should be achieving. I think he should be averaging high 40s in next couple or years and it would be a shame if he doesnt end his career as a 50+ averaging test batsman as he has the ability.

So to become that elite test batsman he should start producing big scores. It will help Pak as well as allow him to reach the heights which he should be reaching.

Of course, but he shouldn't have to cover the other turkeys failings. Need batsmen that can support Babar and contribute to the team.
 
Back to back test 50s from Babar. He would be hoping to convert it into a 100

Absolutely. Fawad and Rizwan have been doing that for few series. I think Saud Shakeel is the best U-25 batsman as well as overall possibly for longer format cricket in Pakistan currently who is properly developed so his inclusion which is inevitable at some point will provide further cushion and strength to the middle order.

Opening remains a worry though as there are no changes conventional solutions currently.
 
Who says there are no jobs in Pakistan. There are lots of vacancies in the National Cricket teams in all formats with no qualified candidates available. Please apply soonest !!!
 
This almost chance free 100 runs partnership is the only time I have enjoyed Pak batting in this series.
 
How can u be 2/3.. Team is dragging Rizwan down to there Level hel score a quick 20 of 20 & get out.
 
Remove Misbah and Waqar. Remove your no 1-3 batsmen , replace them with higher average batsmen from first class you shall get the reward
 
50 for Fawad as well. Need atleast one of them to go to three figures, wont mind both.
 
Babar, Fawad, Rizwan and Faheem. These guys have scored almost 90% of team runs against major opponents. Quite shambolic of top 3.

If Fawad had been played at the age of 22-34 of age instead of 34 onwards these Fawad haters would have turned into Fawad fans . All the blame goes to the selectors , team management, captan especially Misbah.

Absolutely, that’s a warrior that comes out in a tough situation and that’s what Fawad has done many times. Coming out to bat with top order gone ain’t easy.

Imam never should have been replaced by Abid and Shan Maqsood is better than these two at least.

Even Sharjeel could be better than these two openers. Azhar needs to score or will not get to 100 test.!

Indeed in terms of batting ability Sami Aslam was a lengend compared to these two. But his attitude was seriously messed up

You should not expect everyone to be a Fawad. Wait wait and wait until you are 34. No question of attitude. Sami was deprived very much and he reacted
 
Very risky shot in test cricket. The less he plays it the better it is. His main scoring shot through the offside is now the cut which is a lot safer
 
Still alot more repair work to be done here. 2 quick wickets and we would be back in trouble.

The pitch looks to have eased out here , a good first innings total would put WI under big pressure
 
WI playing just three specialist bowlers will always haunt them. They need to change their attitude.

There are now point penalties of slow over rate. Eng and India have already lost 2 points each in WTC table. So WI needs to keep that in mind.
 
Very good recovery by these 2. If they can post a good first innings total then the chances of them losing the test match would eliminate.
 
Tough conditions out there in terms of heat. Fawad as well as Da Silva are cramping up
 
Great session for Pakistan. These 2 need to make it big now, the pitch is fresh and its best time to bat so its important to pile runs on here.

I wish we had a top order who could also contribute.
 
Good session for pakistan, last session needs to be like that aswell.
