Pakistan recover well to reach 212/4 at Stumps on Day 1 of the 2nd Test against the West Indies

Usual suspects rescuing us again. We are literally half of a team, the rest are total passengers.

fawad and babar just getting a little sloppy here. refocus and nothing stupid, both need to get 100s here.

Fawad looks really dehydrated and getting cramps here. Can’t be easy in this kind of heat

Is a batsman allowed to retire? If yes, is he allowed to come back and bat for reasons like cramps?

As I tune in, I see that common sense has not prevailed.

The decision to send Nawaz back has been costly. He could have slotted in ahead of Nauman to provide us with a more reliable layer of batting given the top order struggles.

I'd expect us to barely win, or lose by a small margin.
Nauman is actually more reliable.batsman than Nawaz.

Also do these delays contribute towards slow over rate too? How is the over rate calculated, do they discount delay due to the batsman’s med attention?

Best to retire hurt and comeback later if hes struggling rather then throw his wicket away.

Only 50 overs were bowled in the first two sessions. Pace of the game needs to improve I think to get somewhat reasonable amount of overs in for the day.

cant afford to lose a wicket here, babar needs to tighten up and rizwan needs to get a good score rather then just a quick fire 20.

I feel the heat is a factor here and Babar might be losing his concentration due to that.

Pakistan need include Saud Shakeel in order to stop seeing these embarrassing performances.

Personally I think there is still time to include Fakhar Zaman at the top with Imam ul haq.

Fakhar
Imam
Azhar Ali
Babar
Saud Shakeel
Fawad
Rizwan
Fahim
Hassan
Shaheen
Ghulam Ali

I would have Fakhar and Shan Masood opening. Several posters here were getting overjoyed when the latter was dropped. We all know he's bang average but for a bang average team he makes the team on merit.

Abid Ali and Imran Butt was never going to work.

That was a really good ball to get rid of Babar. He played really well today

Faheem needs to play his normal game rather than trying to see off the day here

Babar Azam is the most soft test batsman I have watched. When was the last time he played a game changing innings ? NEVER

Babar's been playing test cricket for 4 years now. He still hasn't taken that big stride to go from good to great. He works hard but runs out of steam after 200 deliveries. Guys like Younis, Clarke, Amla etc would cash on such starts and make daddy hundreds.

He's going the Ian Bell route in tests. Easy on the eyes but never getting the job done or fulfilling his potential.

Quite a few across various fomats and even recently in SA and Zimbabwe . This dismissal was not his fault, nothing soft about this or last inning, he was gritting out well and scored significant runs in what seem low scoring matches.

Tiredness bhai, let the boy off. He did great today

This part of game now could have huge barring in match later. cant afford a batting collapse.

SENA and Indian bowling attack would demolish our pathetic batting lineup 9 out of 10 times.

Do our test batters even wanna play test cricket?

WI might be in for a 2 points penalty due to slow over rate. There are 25 overs remaining in the day, even getting half of that from here would be some effort.

He’s been pretty decent this series he’s leaving a lot more balls outside off which is good to see. Though I agree it’s about time he starts scoring big. Though this series he’s got out to pretty good balls rather then chasing them which he usually does.

Thats why you need at least 1 spinner in test XI...

Exactly.. He almost removes his iconic cover drive in test..

Last thing we need it them goin at 2 rr and the loosing a flurry of wkts. With rain looming aswell. They need to up the anti a bit. Put pressure on the windies. Make them change their lines by playing positive cricket

Agreed. Pakistani fans don’t read the game. I have actually been impressed how well he’s left. He rearly plays the drive Nowadays. Plus seem to be playing a lot more balls now.

Better RR than first test. Pak touched 3 and over but, in last hour or so it has come down to around 2.7.

There is still some consistent movement in the wicket so really risky to out ball on every ball as movement after pitching can get that nick.

Nahi bhai we shouldn’t set our expectations low. A batsmen of his calibre, he should have at least scored a 100 here.

He will..we gotta give him time..he's still young..he does need alot more support from up top..he is practically opening at the moment.

Our batters are too soft.

Look at how Babar got out and how Fawad got hurt. Two of our best players need to seriously man up and learn to impose their presence. It's embarrassing to watch.

Ofc this is to be expected with Misbah and Waqar as coach who have a weak spot for shy players.

Not only do our players have no talent, they are mentally weak and are not athletes to begin with.

It is embarrassing to watch Fawad gassing out after 2 sessions in the middle. It is hot but they are not playing in Hell; there is no excuse for a professional batsman to run out of steam in two sessions and 150 odd deliveries.

Absolutely embarrassing.

The less said about our mentally weak captain the better. He has the heart of a sparrow and the personality of a cardboard.

Should have scored 150+ here.

Damn such high expectations from a Pakistani batsman woof is this really you. Still doesn’t change the fact his counterpart hasn’t scored a century since 2 years. He can’t be doing it everytime alone and fawad is almost 40 years old.

Why only 150... Should be 300+ :) :D :)))

Who is his counterpart?

Pakistani Fans and their knee jerk reactions. Fawad and Babar put Pakistan back in the game had it been 5 down, WI was favourites to win it. Now Pakistan looks good to put decent score.

Other thing Pakistani fans forget is that we don’t play 10 test match in a year, so dont expect them to perform or develop into a good side. Something PCB needs to focus and put it in their future plans, we need to play Atleast 12 test matches in a year.

Pakistan should Look to Target 350 plus here. As long as these 2 keep playing positive cricket and then with Fawad Left and Nauman can bat aswell , 350 plus should be the minimum

Who could have thought Pak being 197-4 after being 2-3. This is some good recovery after a horrible effort at the start.

150 would be sufficient for an average Test player like Babar who only has 1 Test century outside Asia.
I think you are talking about a average test player who is at number 8 in test ranking(batsman) ...
