What's new

Pakistan take an unassailable 2-0 lead with a comfortable 16 run victory

Sorry - I confused a post made by Cricketfanno 1 for a post made by yours.

Haha getting touchy I see :mv

Umar has shown time and time again he is not capable of building a big innings and Pakistan has shown time and time again that they cannot handle pressure in the shorter format of the came. If you don't agree with those then I really think that someone else around here should be watching more cricket before getting so sensitive and throwing around accusations. :inzi

Keeping both those things in mind - Umar has to be used as a pinch hitter at the death of an innings & he hasn't warranted a spot to come up the order. 85/3 after 11.4 overs is a solid base - but you send the "explosive Umar Akmal" in and you may very well end up on 92/4 after 12.4. There goes your solid base. You're back to consolidating and absorbing pressure.

On the other hand on 85/3 after 11.4 - you have two batsmen who are brilliant at running between the wicket and can easily pick up 8 runs an over without taking any risks. They can easily get you to 115-120 after 15-16 overs. At that stage Umar can go in and actually be expected to do something.

Sure UA can take you from 85/3 to 130/3 very quickly. But what he can do - and has done consistently in the past - is take you from 85/3 to 95/4 and you lose your "strong base". Food for thought genius :yk2

Akmal is best utilised at the top. He has failed as a pinch hitter in the past. He has a good record in T20's and especially in the WT20, he is among the few dynamic batsman we have at the domestic level. At the domestic level he has thrived at the top so I think he should be given a long rope in the top order imo

Pakistan is on a roll these days.

You've started as well, told you NZ were hopeless. Saw the score a couple of hours ago, your guy Rahul being overshadowed completely by Vijay so far. It'd be funny to see Dhawan in next match :srini

Tanvir producing a great spell here :14:

A better hitter than Sarfraz would have definitely scored more.

I disagree. This pitch is for batsmen who can run hard between the wickets like Sarfraz and Malik. Not big hitters. On this pitch big hitters - specially big hitters with the ability of Umar Akmal - would get out caught on the fence trying to hit a 6 an over into their innings IMO.

I disagree, the boundaries are short compared to the past.

We are all over them, just hope Hasan Ali bowls well cos he dropped a sitter

This is reminding me of our form in 2009-2012 when we were a force in t20s

Rahul overshadowed?

You watched his attacking game? Incredible batting in both innings.

Just trying too hard so he is getting out.

Rahul is a star in the making. Dhawan will never be chosen over Rahul unless the latter loses form badly.

Dhawan can come in place of Rohit but never Rahul.

Sure - if Umar & the management thinks he is capable of it I'd quite like to give him a run up the order

See the problem is here we have a 2 different kind of posters:

Group 1: Claiming Sarfraz batted poorly and Umar would have got us to a bigger score - I'm sorry but there is nothing to suggest that UA would have done better than 46 in 32 balls - however, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that he would have done poorly

Group 2: People suggesting that at 85/3 we had a good base and we should have sent an 'explosive batsman' - Again, I'm sorry but 85/3 in the 12th over isn't a time to send an 'explosive batsman' or a pinch hitter IMO

See now if someone was to say what you are saying - I could get on board with that. What you are saying is that Umar Akmal should be given a run up the batting order which is fair enough. However, in doing so to criticise the way Malik and Sarfraz batted on this pitch or to say that at 85/3 you should send in a pinch hitter is just absurd in my opinion.

Hassan have been the weakest link in these last two games, need to pull back fast or he won't be here for too long.

Sarfraz and Malik batted really well. Akmal would have definitely struggled against narine here.

True what your saying, but looks like the windies have set pre plans to target him so got to feel for him a little bit

Yup - I agree. Sarfraz & Malik batted exactly how the pitch and match situation required and IMO Umar would have struggled against the slow & turning balls on this pitch.

I hope Umar Akmal - whenever he gets the chance - proves us wrong. However, for the time being there is nothing to suggest otherwise.

I remember Dhawan scoring ~190 in his debut innings at 100+ SR IIRC, he's much better at home than Rahul has been.

Pakistan is firing though overs quickly and the RRR has gone past 11 now which is quite tricky here. However, it would be naive to assume that the game is in the bag. These guys are T20 champs for a reason.

Fletcher would be crucified on here if he was a Pakistan batsman.

Imad 1 for 12 in 3 overs

again good bowling

Imad is doing very well recently mashallah and due to his aggressive attitude he is fast becoming the poster boy of Pakistani cricket.

InshAllah hope he can keep it up.

Nawaz deserved that wicket!

Big wicket and brilliant bowling by Nawaz mashallah!!

Getting big spin and purchase, going past Bravo's outside edge before firing in a straight one right through Bravo! Timber!

You look at the WI team - with the likes of Samuels, Bravo, Pollard, Badree, Narine & Brathwaite (sure - it may be a bit premature to add him to this list but after the T20 WC final it's hard not to have him here) - Pakistan should be very pleased with their performance so far in this series MashAllah.

These guys are T20 champs for a reason and for Pakisttan to be able to have such control so far in this series is a great performance mashallah.

Pakistan is improving by the day!

BTW what would be Pakistan's ranking if they whitewash WI 3-0 in T20's

I almost forgot about KP.. Peeuw this WI team got a long long long batting.

Imagine if they had Sammy and Gayle as well...WICB really doing their team injustice here.

Having said that - still a very strong team here for WI.

One sided Matches are most boring to watch. All the 3 football matches I watched today were finished inside 1st half. Now this one.
