What's new

Pakistan U19s (240/8) defeat India U19s (237) by 2 wickets in the Group A game of the U19 Asia Cup

Same shezad everybody calling parchi??

Everyone gets called parchi till he starts to perform. As usual Pak gifted the wicket unnecessarily with that run out with Shehzad playing se well and could have won the match.

Lol at anyone who called shehzad parchi. The guy is one of the best strikers of the ball in his age group. See him bat. Real power in his strokes.

Extras conceded by Pakistan compare to disciplined bowling by India could win the match for India.

Irfan playing match losing inning, only two boundaries in 44,and as I type he scores a boundary.

They are some armchair experts that normally say these and they are the same guys that can't admit they are wrong and disappear when their target scores.

Niazi nad mahmood are playing as specialist finishers. Did not bowl a single ball. Lets see what they're made of

Very good match. Pakistan competed well. Irfan Khan losing his wicket maybe a good thing for Pakistan.

wow !!! Ind Vs Pak is the biggest rivalry in the history of sports. More than WC finals and Ashes.

Hopefully a couple of these guys come through to the full time. Well played in particular Zeeshan, Shazad and Ahmed.

When I said Pakistan should reach the final this is why.
Hats off to both teams.

Ahmed Khan looks a real deal to me.

We need a proper fast bowler AR who can hit big in white ball cricket.

Just as predicted. This guy seems to have a lot of potential with bat.
Need a televised game to assess his batting.

He did not panic with three dot balls in 49th over, hit a 6 on the last ball of the over and a four on the last ball of the match, wow , what a match winner.

V good win considering india were 30 for 4 snd 130 for 6 and we let them in the match and i also think new sensation allrounder ahmed khan must have got injured he only bowled three overs

Very good

I think its after a long time that any Pakistan U19 has defeated India U19.

Good win. Now many post early on in this thread looks quite silly Shafi.

Pakistan may meet India again on the finals. Don’t lose the focus young boys.

I thought they'd messed the chase up but excellent batting at the end form Ahmed Khan.

Sets Pakistan up nicely for the rest of the tournament.

Thanks for the update but this match is not an u19 WC match, but an U19 Asia Cup match and you forgot the 2020 u19 match where India trashed Pakistan?

Yes so it should 5 won 5 lost.

Dubai, 25 December 2021: Ahmed Khan’s unbeaten 29, Mohammad Shehzad’s 82 and a five-for from right-arm fast Zeeshan Zameer led Pakistan to a two-wicket win over arch-rivals India in the ACC U19 Asia Cup fixture at the ICC Cricket Academy Oval 2, Dubai on Saturday.

Chasing 238 to win, Pakistan achieved the target for the loss of eight wickets with Ahmed hitting the winning runs on the last ball of the match. Pakistan got off to a shaky start as opening batter Abdul Wahid Bangalzai got out on the second ball of the innings for zero.

Maaz Sadaqat was joined by right-handed batter Shehzad as the pair added 64 runs for the second wicket. Maaz struck four fours in his 45-ball 29 innings. After the departure of Maaz, wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah (three off six) was next to follow as Pakistan U19 were 69 for three in the 17th over. Shehzad contributed 46-run partnership for the fourth wicket with captain Qasim Akram (22, two fours, 40b) and 44-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Irfan Khan (33, three fours, 50b) that kept Pakistan scoreboard moving.

Player of the match Shehzad top-scored with 82 off 105, hitting four fours and five sixes. It was little cameo from Ahmed who helped Pakistan cross the line. The right-handed batter Ahmed’s unbeaten 29 came off 19 balls, which included three fours and one six. Right-handed batter Rizwan Mehmood coming to bat at number-seven chipped in with a 34-ball 29, hitting four fours.

For India, Raj Bawa picked four for 56.

Earlier, after being put into bat, India were reeling at 41 for four in the eighth over courtesy Zeeshan Zameer’s three wickets upfront. The right-arm pacer accounted for Angkrish Raghuvanshi (naught off four), Shaik Rasheed (six off six) and captain Yash Dhull (first ball duck). He went on to take two more wickets in the last spell of his bowling to end-up with match figures of five for 60 from 10 overs. Right-arm fast Awais Ali, who was awarded player of the match in the last game against Afghanistan took two wickets for 43.

India were bowled out for 237 in the 49th over. Aaradhya Yadav top-scored with 50 off 83. Harnoor Singh (46, six fours, 59b), Rajvardhan Hangargekar (33, five fours, one six, 20b) and Kaushal Tambe (32, four fours, 38b) were other contributors with the bat.

Pakistan in their next fixture will play UAE on Monday at the ICC Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai.

Scores in brief:

Pakistan U19 beat India U19 by two wickets

India U19 237 all out, 49 overs (Aaradhya Yadav 50, Harnoor Singh 46, Rajvardhan Hangargekar 33, Kaushal Tambe 32)

Pakistan U19 240-8, 50 overs (Mohammad Shehzad 82, Irfan Khan Niazi 33, Ahmed Khan 29 not out, Maaz Sadaqat 29, Rizwan Mehmood 29; Raj Bawa 4-56)

Zeeshan Zameer:

"First of all I would like to thank the Almighty for his help in my performance today; I had come into this game with the aim of taking 5 wickets against India and thankfully I was able to execute my plans and get success"

Muhammad Shehzad:

"This was a huge game against India and it was my dream to put in a contribution that would help Pakistan win, and I did that"

Qasim Akram:

"First of all our fast-bowlers bowled exceptionally well at the start and then the spinners also did a great job after that; When it came to our batting, the message to all batters was to take their time in the middle and to take the game to the end; Muhammad Shehzad batted really well and set the game up for the later batters and then the way Ahmed Khan finished the innings for us was excellent; He was calm to the end and played an exceptional innings to finish the game for us"

He is probably around 20. But that's true for most of the guys that play U19

You lecture people about we shouldn’t pass on judgement about player but here you are a acting as an age expert. Was you there when he was born? Assuming you were since he’s 20.

Pakistan registered a last ball thrilling two-wicket win over defending champions India while Afghanistan destroyed host UAE’s batting for a 140 runs victory at the ICC Cricket grounds. Bangladesh recorded a mammoth 227 runs win over Kuwait at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on the third day of the ninth edition of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup.

India vs Pakistan at ICC Academy ground 2

Pakistan stop India through a last-ball thriller

Pakistan produced a last-ball victory over defending champions India through a nail-biting thriller at the ICC Academy Ground 2. Chasing India’s total of 237, Pakistan needed eight runs off the last over. Ahmed Khan (29n.o) smashed the last ball of the final over for a boundary to record a two-wicket win.

Muhammad Shahzad orchestrated Pakistan’s chase towards the challenging target through a brilliant 81 off 105 balls studded with four boundaries and five sixes. Though the match swung like a pendulum, with Pakistan losing wickets at regular intervals, their batsmen kept their cool and took their team to the target.

The exciting encounter began with Pakistan winning the toss and electing to field. Pakistan picked early wickets when their pacer Zeeshan Zameer, who had played in franchise league for Islamabad United and for Deccan Gladiators in the Abu Dhabi T10, struck thrice. He removed Indian opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi with the fourth ball of the first over by having him caught behind by wicketkeeper Haseebullah Khan for a duck. Zameer then went on to dismiss one drop Shaikh Rashid caught by Irfan Khan for 6 and also clean bowled Indian skipper Yash Dhull for a duck off successive balls from his second over.

Nishant Sindhu, denying Zameer a hat-trick, settled down. Harnoor Singh, who had cracked a century in India’s first match against the UAE, began the rescue act. Together they put on 27 runs for the fourth wicket before Awais Ali had Sindhu offer wicketkeeper Haseebullah his second catch of the day after scoring eight runs. Rajangad Bawa joined Singh and India went past the 50-run mark in the ninth over.

Singh fell four short of his half century when Awais Ali struck again to have him caught by Muhammad Shehzad. Singh’s knock of 46 came off 59 balls with six boundaries and with Bawa he put on 55 runs off 68 balls.

Half of the Indian team was back in the pavilion for 96. That’s when wicketkeeper Aaradhya Yadav joined Bawa and they put on another 38 runs for the sixth wicket before Bawa got caught and bowled by left-arm spinner Maaz Ahmad Sadaqat. Bawa scored 25 runs off 59 balls.

Kaushal Tambe and Yadav then swelled the total through a 50 runs partnership for the seventh wicket. Tambe hit 32 runs off 34 balls before being caught by Irfan Khan off Pakistan skipper Qasim Akram. Vicky Ostwal lasted only eight balls to score six runs before being run out.

Yadav reached his 50 in 82 balls but lasted only one more ball before becoming Zameer’s fourth victim, getting caught by Muhammad Shehzad. His knock of 50 had three boundaries. Rajvardhan Hangargekar then took charge and went for his shots. He hit Ali Asfand for a six and a boundary in the 47th over and then hit Awais Ali for three boundaries in the 48th over. Zameer completed his five wicket haul by dismissing Hangargker for 33. His knock off 20 balls had five boundaries and a six and that gave India a total of 237 runs in 49 overs.

Pakistan began their journey towards the target losing their opener Abdul Bangalzai for a duck. Maaz Ahmad Sadqat and Muhammad Shehzad put on 64 runs off 86 balls for the second wicket. Raj Bava provided the breakthrough by having Sadaqat caught by Shaik Rasheed for 29. Five runs later, Bava struck again to remove Haseebullah for 3.

Pakistan skipper Qasim Akram joined Shehzad and took the score to 115 by adding 46 runs for the fourth wicket. Akram fell at his score on 22, trapped leg before by Nishant Sindhu. This was followed by a 47 runs partnership for fifth wickets between Shehzad and Irfan Khan before Shehzad got run out by Hangargker for 82.

Pakistan did not waver despite losing Shehzad and every batsman that followed contributed to take the team to the target. Rizwan Mehmood hit 29 runs and added another 47 runs with Irfan Khan.

In the 48th over, Raj Bawa had Irfan caught by Sindhu for 33 and giving away just seven runs. The 49th over saw Ahmed Khan hit Hangargker for a boundary and a six. With eight runs needed off the last over, Ravi Kumar had Zeeshan Zameer caught at deep cover by Hangargker for a duck with the first ball. Ahmed Khan and Ali Asfand could get only singles off the next two deliveries. Khan then took two runs off the fourth and fifth deliveries to make it two runs needed off the last delivery. He hit the last ball with enormous power to the long on boundary to ensure the win and join his teammates in the celebration in the middle.

Player of the Match Muhammad Shehzad revealed that he has realized a dream. “It was my dream to be a match winner against a strong team like India. So I am thrilled at having won this Player of the Match award. I must admit that it was a nervous chase towards the target but all of us constantly told ourselves to be calm and go about our plan. In the end we earned a dream win.”

Pakistan skipper Qasim Akram feels that it was a brilliant allround show from his team. “We knew we will have to fight hard and we did it. We batted and bowled well, and that was what was needed. Everyone contributed especially Shehzad who ensured we move towards the target. We told everyone to be calm and keep going steadily towards the target. We are thrilled we could win over India.”

Indian skipper Yash Dhull has taken the defeat to Pakistan on his stride and said: “It was anybody’s game. In the end Pakistan won it but I believe it was good effort by our team. Even our total was good enough with excellent contributions from our batsmen and we bowled well too. There there will always be many ifs and buts in such a close match. We will learn from this defeat and comeback stronger in the coming matches.”

India were 96-5 after 19 overs. They recovered well.Pakistan should have restricted India to around 180.I have not seen any videos of Pakistan players. Many people think Abdul Faseeh is a very good batsman so isn’t the management giving a chance?

Teams have shorter tails these days. Very common for teams to recover in this way / especially in the middle overs against the older ball and slower bowlers.

I know enough about PK players to say that the majority are at least 3-4 years than stated. Najaf Shah, Mohammed Amir,Shadab to name 3.

Can you share your information with us.How do know?.Have you seen their birth certificates or you have access to their risk and dental x-rays.Note there is no accurate method to determine a person’s age.You can estimate age using medical methods but you can be out by 5 years or more.

Unlike you guys that sit on your armchairs, I watch a lot of cricket, I know alot of people, I mix with players and coaches. You can trust me or you not. It makes no difference. Just to make clear it's not just me that says these things.

The easiest thing in the world is to blame someone, most difficult is to prove it.

Not true. Look at the team pic. I guarantee you most of these guys are definitely below 20. No suspicious ages from what I can see. Age fudging has and still does happen. But not in EVERY case. You cannot generalise.
