Some people from the crowd looked directly into his eyes and had to be taken to the emergency room. Fortunately he's in now.

Those people are suffering from a horrible disease called opthobeastionotis which causes the eyes to dialate and bleed. Sometimes, in rare cases, the eyes may even look to be popping out. The patients will live, but they must be wishing to be dead after such anguishing pain.
 
Despite that last boundary i'd say afridi is looking a little subdued.
