Why don't you go and watch some Tamasha T20 cricket then ? RR of 3 is fine in tests. Also Misbah & Sarfraz can accelerate at the late end of this innings.

Such a typical emotional response. This is what seperates great Asian teams from good. If this was India and our players were tuk tuking at the score on 300+ for 1 no Indian fan would stand for it. Ultra defensive batting by the two batsman and you should call them out on it.

Was watching the news here, they called Mohammad Hafeez "Mohammad al Hafeez" without realizing :))

Class-less stuff by NZ there by not battering an eye-lid to Shezad on the floor. Say what you want about the Aussies, they would have at least gone over to him to see all was okay.

It's not classless stuff, it's a cultural difference. If you noticed, a few of them went to Shehzad briefly and walked away.

The culture here is to give people personal space when they're hurt. Even at club level cricket, coach and captain ask you to back away from the player you hurt accidentally if you go too close to him for too long.

It's what people here think is right, nothing wrong with it.

I neither love misbah or younis.
Just saying a fact as to who is capable on playing a fast innings and who isn't.

Neither can play that sort of innings at will. It was Misbah's day that time, he wouldn't be able to do it again. They should have promoted Shafiq or Sarfraz.

Dude there is better chance of snow in UAE than Misbah ever repeating that innings or even a similar one to that.

As I said he may or may not get it. Atleast if he fires pak will get the much needed momentum and if he fails then younis can come in and play in his normal way.
There is not much to lose if misbah or sarfaraz would come in, but plenty to gain.

I see - thanks for clearing that up.

What you smoking dude? I guess bulletDrive also hooked you up with his special delusion enticingly stuff. Younis Khan is anything but a fast scorer, specially at the start of his innnings which is why he is such an awful LOI player

dude the guy has the best strike rate for a pakistani in test compare it with azhar misbah asaq shafiq etc

I was actually in a few classes with Sodhi in High School.

Really humble and hard working guy, so happy to see him doing well :)

Did he play Papatoetoe cricket club? I've heard he's from somewhere around there.

I'm glad we're taking on Pakistan here and not India.

They would have been 500-600/2 =S

LoL , 6th or 7th ?? , dont even remember the rank of these great asian sides .:misbah

Job should be to contain Pakistan, we're not going to get them out so make them bat until tomorrow.

BlackThunder is right, India's FTB's would have been striking at close to 100.

God have mercy on the team who takes on India in such conditions.

In Test only number one ranking matters the rest are just making up the number. Nevertheless good on Pakistan for getting close before the away tours.

Can't believe Pakistan are only batting at 3RPO on this track after losing only 3 wickets. Credit goes to Azhar Ali and somewhat to Shehzad.

But they'd probably be all out too. They're all T20 players.
lol no, I'd back two of them to get doubles and maybe a third to get a triple.

The wicket is that good the only way you can get out is to a bad shot.

Both Shehzad and Azhar were well below par. If Hafeez hadn't batted with an above average SR, we'd be well below 3 RPO at this point.

This attack is pretty substandard too for these conditions , i expect pakistan to do a little better .

Strike rate brigade out in force again... Let's call them the "minority numpties"

Younis seems like a pretty limited player tbh, always sweeps (Has made an awesome career despite it).

Is that like his only shot against spin?

SR is important in all formats but less in Tests compared to LOIs.

Don't worry, they will enter the fortress soon.
Better pray you win the toss, if you lose the toss and India bat first on this phatta they'll probably win by an innings. It's tough trying to bat out a draw when the opposition has put 500-600 in the first innings.

Exactly. That's why Azhar should be opening. #3 needs to be more dynamic, i'd prefer Shafiq at #3 with Hafeez moving into the middle order.

Nothing emotional about it. RR of 3 is perfectly fine in tests. There's still a lot of time to accelerate. Also our bowlers are more capable of taking 40 wkts than India so no worries :)

Younis is indeed limited, but he operates within his limits better than most batsmen ever have.

S/R is still important in Test cricket. Going along at 3RPO on a highway with almost all wickets in hand is simply not acceptable.

Anyone who can't appreciate our batting on these conditions is a prized idiot

I was ripping a few googlies today at the nets today. I've decided to take advantage of the lack of spin bowling depth in NZ.

I expect to be replacing craig by the 3rd test.

Anybody else feel this when we lose a wicket?

From Cricinfo
Zaid Noorsumar: "As a Pakistani fan, I am always projecting minimum-possible scores considering the eventuality of a famous Pakistani collapse. I reckon we will score at least 450 here. "

50 overs remaining, need to bat for the next 35 @5 RPO which means around 560-570.

Gotta be around the 600 mark on these highways against a deflated attack if you are going to bat for 2 full days. SR of <50 not acceptable.

attritional cricket works in the UAE , nice of you to question the approach of the most succesful side on these shores .its not like they are playing in india etc ..

funny hypothetical scenario , even funnier when you realise that Pakistan have hardly ever lost a game here in the Uae after losing the toss .

If Hafeez can make his 96 @ an SR of 70+, then I don't see why no one else can get their S/R above 50.

We shouldn't be batting again in this Test and if we do, we should sent Azhar as an opener like we did against Australia.

No need for Shehzad to bat again in this Test. Should get ample rest.

At this rate, Shafiq and Sarfraz might as well go for a desert safari, it's not like they're gonna bat :yk

Younis has pretty much cemented his position for the 2015 World Cup.

One of Umar, Maqsood and Fawad to miss out. :inti

Its a long series, they have already played 2 test matches. I wouldn't want anyone to get injured/tired.

Shafiq, Sarfraz and the tail are pretty fresh. They haven't really batted match at all in the last couple of games.

Lol why? Completely different formats and i get the feeling that YK plays with more freedom in Tests than in shorter formats.

You know how things work in Pakistan and the so-called specialists in ODIs aren't covering themselves in glory either.

Such a dull day of test cricket even by test cricket standards.
We should have crossed 470-500 by now.

This is so boring...

Get 500 and declare already...

Want to see us bat.

I want to see Shafiq and Sarfraz bat together now. The 'busy' way they bat is exciting.

Also eagerly waiting to watch Kane Williamson, one of my favorites.

the aussie series should have been three matches long ideally , instead of this one .
