they haven't lost any overs yet.. they can only start losing overs after half an hour of rain..there are still 3 minutes left till half an hour is up..then they will lose an over every 4 minutes
Actually now it is four minutes after that 30 minutes so one over is down

22 to go

when the game was going it seemed like yousuf was goig to pee in his pants! this guy can't take ANY pressure. great player, but NOT a captan.

i know its wishful thinking at my part, but i just so wish that somehow younis comes back in this team.

All captains do that. Ever seen Punter's face when his team is losing? He chews the heck out of his fingernails. Only guy who remains calm the whole time is Greame Smith and perhaps Dhoni.

man do not say anything against Moyo, you will soon be hearing from his peeps

Sorry guys I made a mistake earlier so in next minute an over would be gone (5:09 one over is down and so on)

Dhoni has a disadvantage his fingers are covered with gloves:)

Comment from Indian friends on Cricinfo;
Santosh Kumar J from India: "Let say - if 15 overs are remaining and 118 runs to be scored. With 10 wickets in hand that wont be a big ask. NZ must have these kind of knocks to deserve a series victory. I feel Nz has the upper hand here, only if rain gods have mercy on them."

Rajesh from Australia joins the chorus asking about starting each day's play at noon. "Well that's how you pay for the folly of starting play at lunch time!!"

G2 from India sums up the situation. I like how the message gets increasing hysterical: "what a pity! What a pity!! WHAT A PITY!!!"

Don't some of Indian posters here accuse some PPers of supporting Ponting over Tendu?

2nd over to be down. Just 12 overs or more, then surely pak cannot loose.

LOL at the negative hopes we have right now :D

I was reading those comments as well. It seems they are too busy watching our game rather then their own.

Pontings over Tendu is a huge insult to Indians. Have you ever hear Gavasker talking about Tndu?

Well according to cricinfo, the rain is getting lighter and the umpires are checking the conditions out. Gulp.

6.10pm The rain has become a little lighter. The Supersopper has come out. The umpires are inspecting the conditions. Play can be extended by one hour to make up for lost time

uh oh. :)))

I don't think so lost overs are lost no matter. I am not too sure about it either :(
why would the extend the play? unless they want to make sure no overs are lost. I don't know, I hope the play just doesn't start:) lol

cricinfo:

6.20pm The rain had stopped for a few minutes but it has started drizzling again. So the covers will stay on.

if it is extened then we are back to square one. no over lost i guess

U sure cause the NZ commentator was saying 1 over lost every 4 minutes once the time goes past 6.05

i am not sure. Cricinfo said Play can be extended by one hour to make up for lost time.

But here is the latest:
6.20pm The rain had stopped for a few minutes but it has started drizzling again. So the covers will stay on.

hope it keeps raining

are overs really being lost ?

play can continue for another hour and 40 minutes

Roughly 5 overs lost now, meaning 18 overs remaining. And rain won't stop anytime soon it seems.

I believe lost overs are lost.

The maximum they can play until is 8 pm (NZ Time). Assuming each over is 4 minutes 20 overs will be 80 minutes (1 hour 20 minutes)

theirs half an hour of play left, and it can be extended a max of 1 hour.......so if play were to start in 5 mins, that would leave 1.5 hours, and with the way the bowlers have been bowling (slow over rate) they probably wont get through more than 18 overs

all we need is another 15 mins of rain and we should be fairly safe

tahaqureshi said:
why is it that when our bowlers perform..our batting collapses..and when our batsmen perform, our bowlers bowl crap
and when openers peform.... our middle order collapse. :malik excpat for this time though.

NZ have all the wkts in hand. they just need 12 overs to knock down the total.

I was looking at Omar gul's bowling figure, looks like T20
Umar Gul (rfm) 3.0 0 24 0 8.00
very bad in test

That wont happen. Even if they had McCullum and Taylor at the crease - if one of those two were to get out ot would be over. NZ don't have the batting strength.

They scored 471 and you think they don't have batting strength against us!! McCullum and Vetorri scored at RR 5.5 when we scored at RR 2.0. Its a small total and they can go for it. If they loose wkts, they can bat out 4-5 overs.

Even if Pak draw this match this is a wake cup call to them they have to think when batting, Umar Akamal is ver talented but he had a brain fart along with Misbah and Butt and farha

Maybe not 12 ...

if we put all our men at the boundaries and play t20 cricket most nz can score at is prob around 8 an over.

so thats 15 overs or 1 hour they need.

Batting first and chasing is a different thing. If they had a batting line up with a number of batsmen who could play aggresively, then it would be a different story. They could chase with a sense of confidence. But they don't. NZ are just as poor a batting team as us. That partnership, with that rate, between Vettori and McCullum was a once in a blue moon thing.

But a draw now. So all academic anyway.

Don't know whether to be happy that we avoided a series defeat, or lament the fact that it took rain to do so, and that it was against a poor NZ side.

No Ajmal and Afridi here.

They arent the answer to everything. If you remember the first test, Ajmal didnt perform too well. And Afridi has made himself unavailable for Tests, so dont even bring that up.

i dont think umar akmal did anything wrong...........they have too let him play his game........everytime i see him batting it seems that whoever is batting with him wont shut up......even crap batsmen misbah are constantly hounding him.........more than the bowlers or the situation, the non striker was creating pressure for him

6.45pm The match has been called off as it is still raining in Napier. Rain has robbed the series of what had shaped to be an enthralling finish, so the series is drawn 1-1.

pakistan get out of jail !!!!

we did everything to lose this match .. somehow ended up with a draw.

Yeahhh its a draw....rain saves pathetic team

so rain saves our @$$es in the end. our strategy of playing for a draw backfired spectacularly. batted well in the 2nd innings, but i think we were way too defensive.
