Pakistan v West Indies | 1st ODI | Abu Dhabi | 12/11/08 | PAK Innings

Manzoor does one thing better than most of the recent newcomers to the Pakistan side is that he plays off his legs pretty well. Players like Butt , Farhat usually don'y punish legside deliveries.
 
Manzoor is looking better than his senior partner....drop butt

Bingo!

Afridi needs to be dropped in favor of Saeed Ajmal. Replace Butt with an aggressive batsman. Kamran shouldn't be recalled in first place.

If Afridi performs today with bat, but still he has to be dropped. He is the reason to block the progress of Pakistan which we would have benefited with special spinner like Saeed Ajmal :D

I don't mind a player anchoring the innings but Mr Butt does not even rotate the strike with a few singles and doubles. Some players don't hit boundaries but run singles.

Typical Salman Butt batting 4 of 23 balls, He plays for himself not for the team.
No feet movement chicken as hell. Seriously, I would have had Imran Nazir instead of him in the team.
 
Mohammad Talha is as fast if not faster....

I have seen mohammad talha... and ppl can quote this post of mine once he gets to play.... if he gets to play
 
32 runs in 8 overs. butt is doing his utmost to keep the required run rate high.

gawd this is grueling slow. maybe the world does us a favor by not touring pakistan. this way we dont stare in front of our computer/tv screens all day all night wasting our day, just being upset in the end when they lose

Agree with with every bit of your comment apart from Nazir. Nazir doesn't play for himself or the team. Brainless. Given many chances and failed too often.

Manzoor getting frustrated and trying to hit the ball too hard and mistiming badly.
 
The look on his face, is can see he will do something special here

West Indies scored 11 off their first 5 overs. Dont sweat over a slow start.

Especially since our middle and lower oreder is much better.

Butt looks so good sometimes and then he has days like this when he bats worse than a tailender.
 
tidy start which is important in the first 10 over when chasing a score is to not loose a wicket the rate doesn't quite matter so pakistan playing fine at the moment.
 
i've never rated Butt. Even during the Bangladesh and Zimbabwe series, he scored consistently but was also dropped a number of times. Manzoor is definetly looking much better then Butt. When you look at games like this when the openers are going slow, imagine how much pressure the middle order will be in without any power plays. One of the openers should start playing some shots

Although Butt is batting slowly and the rate is poor I think we are well in the match. A 50 run opening stand will give the team some confidence.
 
If we have batting talent like Nasir Jamshed and Khurram Manzoor on the bench.....why weren't they used earlier.....a mix of aggression and calm nature from both players

That is the problem with Butt. He just does not rotate the strike. If he knew how to rotate the strike then the field would open up for him.

Manzoor the inexperienced guy is doing what Butt should be by trying to work the length. While Butt just sits in the crease and swishing.
