Pakistan to take on Australia in the first of 5 match ODI series in Sharjah today in their bid to prepare for the ODI World cup to be held in England.

In order to get the team combination right and find new players for the World Cup, Pakistan have made some changes to their squad with Shaoib Malik leading the side in absence of Sarfaraz Ahmad and Umar Akmal making a come back after a lay off of almost 3 years. Pakistan have also unearthed a new pace sensation from this years PSL Mohammad Hussnain who every one would be looking forward to bowl to Australians should he make his debut today.

On the other hand, Australia are coming into this series high on confidence after coming from 2-0 down to beating India 3-2 and would want to continue their winning streak against Pakistan. Pakistan have last won an ODI series against Pakistan in 2003 in Australia by beating them 2-1 in a 3 match series.

All in all, it promises to be a good game between two evenly matched teams...

Team News

Pakistan: As expected, Pakistan had no qualms in adding an outshining emerging talent from the PSL. Mohammad Hasnain, the 18-year-old pacer from Hyderabad who won the Man of the Match award in the PSL final, had pressed his case for a maiden call up by hitting consistent lengths whilst generating brute pace. With Junaid, Mohammad Amir, Usman Shinwari and Fahim Ashraf in the squad, Hasnain is likely to get a one-off match, something that Sarfraz Ahmed hinted at in the post-PSL final press conference. With Fakhar Zaman rested, Shan Masood is set to make his ODI debut and transfer his List 'A' form to the apex level.

Probable XI: Imam ul Haq, Shan Masood, Haris Sohail, Shoaib Malik (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Imad Wasim, Fahim Ashraf, Mohammad Amir, Junaid Khan, Yasir Shah, Usman Shinwari

Australia: After Usman Khawaja and Pat Cummins's prolific run across the five ODIs in India and Marcus Stoinis' all-round contribution at Feroz Shah Kotla, the tourists would like to test out the same lineup. Shaun Marsh, Australia's best batsman in the format last year, might have to sit out for the most part of the series.

Probable XI: Usman Khawaja, Aaron Finch (c), Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Turner, Alex Carey (wk), Jhye Richardson, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Adam Zampa

Its weekend here in Dubai and Gulf States.

And people in Pakistan are on holiday after Friday prayers.

This forum is mostly filled with british pakistanis. Probably that's why. People usually come in after the end of the first innings.

Match didn't start yet. :danish

I didn't watch much PSL but I'ma definitely watch this series

Touche.

I haven't watch any of the PL's including IPL, PSL, BPL etc... The only one I ever watched was BBL but it's not too appealing either.

Willow seems to be showing SL T20 match in place of Pak vs Aus... i see what there up to :babar

Pakistan XI: Shan Masood, Imam-ul-Haq, Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik (c), Faheem Ashram, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Amir, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Abbas

How is Umar Akmal back in the side? Did he have a crazy good domestic season?

Pakistan have won the toss and will bat first..

Team news to follow.

Inzi's favorite Yasir is playing!!!!! Hopefully Australia will destroy him and Abbas. Both are not good enough to play ODI.

Teams:
Australia (Playing XI): Usman Khawaja(c), Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Shaun Marsh, Alex Carey(w), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jhye Richardson, Nathan Lyon, Adam Zampa

Pakistan (Playing XI): Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Haris Sohail, Shoaib Malik(c), Umar Akmal, Mohammad Rizwan(w), Faheem Ashraf, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Abbas

Australia is clear favorite to chase even 300 runs on this pitch. Pathetic squad

No cummins, he will probably not play this series. he always rests against pakistan

If Yasir wasn't going to play on this pitch there was no point having him with the squad.

Pakistan are heavily relying on their top 4 to score runs. If we lose wickets cheaply it's game over when you have Rizwan in at 6 and Faheem as high as 8.

PSL died for me the moment Salman Butt was selected. Didn't watch a single game afterwards. Hopefully PCB comes to their sense and never pull off such a stunt.

Umar Akmal should keep, we could have made place for extra batsman or Hasnain.

Why r u forcing someone to keep?
The guy doesn't want to keep

The guy seems a lost cause, but if they were bringing him back, Kamran Akmal also deserved a chance as opener for the World Cup.

Both are bottlers at most stages.

But both are attacking batsmen, and it makes no sense to include one bottler and reject the other.

The batting ends as soon as it begins, lol. Also when are we going to let go of the idea of Yasir Shah in LOIs

abid ali should have kept. Rizwan couldnt even get in the pathetic Karachi Team he is well out of form

This is the worst line up anyone could ever imagine, they should've given a chance to Abid Ali and M.Hasnain.

Dunno what the hype is about?? Abid ali isn't even that good. He averages 38 in list a. I'd have shan masood over Abid any day of the week.

Yasir Shah is a terrible selection in ODIs.

Zafar Gohar or even Umer Khan would have been a better option.

Team sports don't work that way. You play the position your teams need you to play, not where you want to.

This type of situations come up in club cricket where some bowler or batsman is given the keeping role. This is international cricket. U need a specialist wicketkeeper.

Soon we will see Yasir will be in our T20 line up along with Abbas. Inzamam likes to keep same players for all the format.

You don't need a specialist keeper is limited overs. Everyone knows that Pak doesn't have a real batting keeper. If Akmal was truly dedicated to the team, he would have worked it *** off to become a better keeper which would have given us a bonus.

Considering 3 PM start, may be Aussies won't mind chasing under dew. As expected, Hasnain dropped and Amir playing.

It looks like our Test bowling attack !

As a resident of the UAE, there's not a lot of due at this time of year.

Why Inzi is persisting with Yasir and now want to give chances to Abbas. Both doesn't have the abilities to play ODI.
God knows when we will get rid of this guy.

Dropped? Hasnain havent even debuted, yes he havent given his debut oppurtunity today.

How have you judged Abbas’s ability and also that its not good enough to play ODIs?

Abbas will do good. i have no doubts... A good bowler like him can perform in any format just like Asif, it all depends on the captain to make use of such bowlers..

Usual tuktuk. Now that the WC is near we will see plenty of selfish innings.

I think Inzy should be fired for selecting this squad...
A 40 year old as captain.. Yasir Shah in the ODI team, Akmal...

What is the logic behind this????

Let's hope these openers see off the new ball until Lunch :imam

I feel like, Imam ul haq is about to come dancing down the track and skying the ball soil.

With Imam it feels like your playing Don Bradman on the XBox where you tell the batsmen to come dancing down the wicket before the ball is delivered and after that there is no going back....
