Pakistan vs Bangladesh in a hypothetical five match ODI series - Who would win?

wooow!!!!


Pakistan will easily cruise through victory no matter what the venue is....We are the champions!

Bangladesh was lucky to qualify to semi's, they were easily loosing to Australia if the rain wouldn't have...
 
4-1 to Pakistan

We have better bowlers and our batsman now are good enough to score good in Bangladesh/UAE.


CT win confidence is plus.
 
The comparison is ridiculous, PAK has won/achieved everything there is to win/achieve in cricket! Banglades zero. While anything can happen in cricket at the moment you would have to assume Pakistan would win easily.
 
5-0 Pakistan with close wins, if BD play at their very best and out of their skins then 4-1 is very possible. A BD win would be because of Pak being caught slacking.
 
Id really love to see a series between the two sides especially after last time, when and where is pak's next series??
 
I think we can have 5 hard fought games can go 3-2 or 4-1 in both ways.

And unpredictable team is never ruthless and is expected to win sometimes. it took 6 years for pakistan to give some impression in one icc tournament after 2011 semi final.
bangladesh is still not pushover. anyone can win. I wont be surprised if bangladesh wins against pakistan as pakistan is unpredictable not some top class ruthless team.

Nobody said Pakistan is ruthless, its more because Bangladesh has never won anything and apart from one game they were soundly beaten in every other game in recently finished CT. Pakistan won against India by 180 runs and Bangladesh were humiliated by India just two days before with Rohit blocking the last few balls just to see if Kholi can get to 100. So just to be clear what most people are saying that this Bangladesh team is no match to this Pakistan side which has just Won the Champions Trophy.
 
It would be great if pakistan invites BD in UAE like they hosting all other countries in UAE instead dragging them in pakistan where none country want to go.

We will surely see some close matches there.
 
The only teams I can see winning a series against this current Pakistan on their current form is England and South Africa in bilaterals.

When it comes to Pak vs Bangladesh, I can even see a 5-0 victory, but most likely 4-1 victory to Pakistan...3-2 would be an upset.

south africa were also comfortable beaten by india. India also comfortably beat pakistan in league match. but it didnt prevent india loosing against pakistan. Pakistan played better in final. it was not india's day.collapsed happen sometimes everywhere.
if pakistan beaten india it doesnt mean they wud be able to do it always now. use common sense. india beaten bangladesh and south africa also comfortably even pakistan too in league match. i would still back bangladesh to beat pakistan in 5 match series.

If you want to back Bangladesh nobody is stopping you. But as I said the team that has just won CT has to be favorites to win against lowly ranked Bangladesh whos won nothing. Its clear to most cricket experts man to man this Pakistan team is better than Bangladesh. As far as I know they have not won a series outside Bangladesh against any decent sides yet in their whole history.
 
in current form , bangladesh would be extremely lucky to sneak a victory anywhere in the world against us.

difference between ranking of bangladesh and pakistan is not much. A week back when pakistan had not beaten india and england. evwrybody were saying bangladesh is asia second best side. if one week of good cricket can make pakistan world best team who cant be challenged now and then why not one week of another good cricket by bangladesh make them world champions. One week of cricket can make best or wort team in the world. people forget phainties over the years but only remember one week.
bangladesh team is not weak. they have world class players. anybody can win the series.

Okay Let Bangladesh play one week of good cricket in CT OR WC first until then Pakistan will always start favorites against Bangladesh who again has won nothing in their history yet. The fact that we are comparing a team that has won everything there is to win in Cricket to one that has won nothing is laughable enough as its.

But we are talking about bilateral series not champions trophy. so bangladesh is also capable of playing good cricket for some time against any team i think.

If they are capable why didnt they in CT? or why don't they? Pakistan has just won the championship so they will definitely start favorites against Bangladesh. that's all there is to say.

soouth africa also lost matches against india and pakistan.it doesnt mean they are not capable. See i dnt doubt pakistan. If they continue to play like this ..with this passion...with this hunger..as a team they can be n.o 1 team in the world. pakistan shows like this sometimes only like they beat south africa in south africa in 2-1 and india in india 2-1. Point is PAK will start favorites to win by a long way against Bangladesh. And its simple as that.

Pakistan has just won CT won 4 knock out games in a row... Naturally Pakistan will start favorites against most sides specially against lowly ranked Bangladesh.. What bit you don't get?

Refer to my earlier thread I did say anything can happen in Cricket but before the start of the series we have to assume Pakistan will win easily all things considered. The point of the thread was to predict a winner.

That was 2 and a half years ago. There are only three Pakistanis who were part of the CT final that were also part of the last ODI in BD. Namely, Azhar, Hafeez and Junaid. 75% of the team is different, and as we have seen recently the team is good enough to brush aside even sides like Eng and India.


BD under present circumstances and present form are absolutely no match.
 
These sorts of questions are silly when the audience is made up of mainly Pakistanies and a few bangladeshi's.

Luckily I met up with a my old cricketing friends for lunch, and there were 12 non pakistany people amongst us. All of them said Pakistan would win comfortably. Bangladesh might sneak a game but that would only be because Pakistan took the foot off the pedal.

Regarding topics,in Bangladesh the series will go in favor of Bangladesh 3 -2,in UAE 3-2 in favour of Pakistan.
 
3-2 to Pakistan as they are in form but we cannot take Bangla bros lightly that 3-2 win will be very close. Few Indian posters I can are still burning over CT loss and trying their level best to prove Pakistan is going to lose. Why we are rating Pakistan high because you all were bashing us when Pakistan was playing crappy cricket and that young team proved you all wrong. Second, when Pakistan lost to Bangladesh that team was in rebuilding phase Azhar was our new captain which later proved to be a horrible decision and when India got thrashed by Bangladesh they had settled team and settled league. So, stop posting nonsense post and get a life.

I saw the thread this morning and assumed the "we" was Pakistan :))
 
People mention the 3-0 in Bangladesh ages ago. There is a big difference between that team and the Pakistan team from today. With a champion player of the tournament in Hasan Ali to a CT Final MOTM Fakhar to one of the best emerging talents in Shadab to an aggressive new captain in Sarfraz, Pakistan will easily win against Bangladesh if we played a series right now.
 
I think it would depend on venue. In the UAE Pakistan has a good shot at winning 3-2 or 4-1 if they play up to current form.

In Bangladesh it would be a battle. People seem to forget that playing away isn't as easy as it looks and BD is still very strong at home. If Pakistan plays on current form 3-2 but if they come out unprepared Bangladesh will win 3-2 or even 4-1 if they play at their very best.

I should also point out that even in home (UAE) conditions Pakistan wasn't that strong in ODIs, just in Tests, and even in the tours of England and Australia we won a match even as we got demolished in the other matches. Bangladesh will win at least one.

Irrespectivr of the venue,it eill be a good series between two minnow teams
 
A few months ago Bangladesh to win pretty comfortably

Now Pakistan to win easily atleast 4-1

Pak games in the group stage were shaky. They could been bowled out chasing 236 if Perera didnt drop that catch.

They only played like champions in KO stage then again even BD knocked out England in a WC game forget CT.
 
How many games have Bangladesh actually won against Pakistan? whats the head to head record overall?

I know its history but I'd still like to know.

In paper none thought Pak would be CT champion. In paper pakistan is 5-0. See the logic? It will be decided on the field. Let arrange something on the field.
 
In 35 completed games Bangladesh have beaten Pakistan in 4 matches.
That's 4 matches since their first match together in 1986...

Every team goes through peaks and troughs but there is a long long way to go before you can say Bangladesh is ahead of Pakistan even though they have beaten some stronger teams along the way at home in recent years.

We beat the Aussies in Odi's in Australia in 2001/2002 but we could never claim that we were better then them in Odi's. We were only better then them in that series.

We also beat South Africa in South Africa in our last ODI series there but did that make us better then them overall?

Which top teams have Bangladesh beaten in a series away from home?
One off games here and there don't really count otherwise we can say that we beat Australia in one game in 2017 and New Zealand in a game in 2015/2016.

Even in the recent Champions trophy they beat New Zealand and who else?

Coming back to the present, thankfully we now have a new captain and good young players who seem to excel under pressure. After all four games on the trot on foreign soil against quality opposition is not something to take likely.

Taking everything in to perspective I have to back my non Pakistany friends on this one in that 4 out of 5 times Pakistan will beat Bangladesh, home or away.
 
In Bangladesh it would be very close and exciting, shame they cancelled the tour. Maybe 3-2 to us if it were to happen right now but let's not forget we are still an average ODI team overall.In UAE we would probably would 4-1. I can't see Bang winning too many games away from home in a bilateral series

The England team Bangladesh beat in the WC was the epitome of mediocrity,even worse than we were.We all saw how Bangladesh were beaten by this England team in the CT.Bangladesh's win in the 2011 WC vs England was a great win though

Eng had pretty much the same players plus better bowlers at that time: Morgan, Root, Butler, MM Ali, Hales, CR Woakes, all played. Besides BD beat England even in 2011 WC...again at a WC game.

It's really not a big deal, it doesn't mean BD is a better team than England.

Of course it's not a big deal,but the main reason for the change in Englands fortunes was not the change in personnel,but the change in approach towards the game.

Winning the champions trophy is due to Bowling pitches and in final India bowled a no ball to Fakhar uz Zaman then they came under pressure. We have too many players whose natural game is 70 - 80 strike rate dont expect to win with these players. If it had been a bilateral india would have made a close match out of the final.

I agree with your post, but Pak pacers will not be much effective in BD conditions to beat BD 5-0 or 4-1. Its just a matter of having experience against Pak bowlers. I do not believe Hassan Ali, Amir, Junaid Khan is better than Southee, Boult, Milne whom BD batsman seem to play well against.

You were struggling to chase 236 against an aging Malinga, otherwise you would've been eliminated. Similarly, BD semi was also based on luck.

Bowling can win you tournaments, yes, but to be a consistent top team you need superior batting like Aus, India, and Eng.

What bowling pitches you are talking about??? 300 was being scored regularly and by all teams expect when facing Pakistan.


Pakistan has the best bowling attack on the face of this planet and it is very, very well rounded as well. On English pitches the pace trioka has more say while on Asian pitches guys like Imad, Shadab and Hafeez will be match winners.


Bangladesh are absolutely no match to this Pakistani side.

Yeah, Eng completely changed after they took a beating from us in 2015. Similarly, Ind completely changed after 2007 loss to BD. There fans should be thanking BD lol.
 
5-0 to Pakistan.

I have failed to get the hype around Bangladesh. Yes they have improved immensely but they are still a mediocre team with a toothless bowling attack that only does well at home. They got to the semi-finals based on one really good partnership and they were very, very lucky to have been saved by the rain against Australia. They got crushed by England, crushed by India, almost crushed by Australia and managed to sneak one past New Zealand. I'm sorry but that doesn't read to me like a semi-final side.
 
I see BD posters are out again.

Before their excuse was 3-0 and rankings. Oh my goodness we never heard the end of rankings ranking rankings. And 3-0 is now years old, move on.

Now we are above in rankings, have just won silverware by not only smashing teams that thrashed BD but smashing teams who are the best on the planet.

Once we have Sharjeel and Haris we will even beat Australia,England etc 4-1/3-2 in their own den. This team will go up from here.
 
All jokes aside I never ever thought that Bangladesh was above us in terms of cricketing talent.

Our problems stemmed from inept selectors and a corrupt system selecting first a captain who wasn't even in the ODI set up and other undeserving players.

We have seen what happens when you select the right captain and select some of the emerging talents.
Just a few changes brought us the CT Cup...

I'm hopeful that with the present chief selector and the people seeing the talent in the PSL we can maintain our current standards and hopefully improve upon it.
 
Some Pakistan fans are going OTT with 5-0 predictions.

It would be a close series with Pakistan edging it 3-2 due to our bowling strength. I think our batting is still a worry if Fakhar doesn't fire. Fakhar and Sharjeel opening, also ditching Hafeez would improve our batting.

Overall I'll go 3-2 Pakistan.
