And he will now??

When there is absolutely no reason for doing so?? When is comfortably better the rest of the team.

We don't need unsettlement at that time. It would disturb the dressing room.

Now is a good time. Off-season (presumably), will also allow PCB to arrange a nice farewell function for him and send him the card on the right address.

Celebrate his records etc.

I am sure he will play a few Tests before the England tour, which will allow Haris to settle into the team. If we cannot survive without him at the age of 40 in UAE/Asia, what will we do in the future?

Where was anyone? Dale Steyn and co are just too good on bowling friendly tracks and the fact that we were missing Junaid didn't help us at Cape Town.

Younis and Misbah are certainly better equipped than anyone else to deal with England and Australia on their home turf, especially the former who actually averages 50+ and 40+ in those countries.

Anderson, Broad and Finn are too good in English conditions as well. Only South Africa have been able to blunt them successfully and Younis and Misbah are not in the class of Amla bhai and company.

If both of them were not good enough in 2013 when they were younger, I won't put my money on them in 2016.

Where were both in SA 2013? Both younger and fitter.

Misbah failed in all three matches and Younis failed in two, but since he's better than Misbah, he cashed in on the slow Cape Town pitch.

Do we want us to get a dose of reality in 2016 after two easy years like we got in 2013? I presume not, so perhaps we need to do something different and proactive this time around.

Yeah the same capetown pitch where;

-SA chose to bowl first.
- It was swinging and seaming on the first day.
- We were 28-4.

You are confusing day 1 with 4 & 5.

And in the third test Younis made a 40 odd and was the last man dimissed looking for runs. Not his fault the rest of team didnt show up. 40 odd when you are last man out is hardly called a flop.

I didn't like it. It ticked me off. You don't disrespect the captain of the other team like that.

There are some courtesies.

He was just extremely frustrated at Misbah's stubbornness to block and then late dab one of his deliveries for 4 instead of giving a catch to one of the slips.

We haven't groomed anyone else in these times either.

Putting a young team will only be a replay of the 2010 test match series. You would need exceptional bowling performances to manage a 3-1

Still it cannot be worse than the Indian greats that got embarassed in 2011 vs Anderson and Broad.
In Aussie and in England. Whitewash galore that was.

in 9000+ test runs club

younis khan has 3rd highest average of 54+ behind sangakara 57.4 and kallis 55.3

No they are not. Sri Lanka won a series there and Younis Khan has no problems against swing bowling, as he's shown in the past. I would put my money on them instead of a couple of green youngsters who will play timidly because they'll be fighting for their spots.

We all saw how our last series against England went, when we tried the strategy that you're suggesting right now. It's an awful one and has failed before. Thank God, the management won't try it again.

It was a dry pitch. Our top order failed but that does not mean that they were tough conditions. Of course the ball will always swing in South Africa up front, but the pitch was easy to bat on as the day progressed and Younis milked Peterson not Steyn and Morkel.

He never looked comfortable in the first and third Tests, don't just look at scorecards. How do you explains his failure vs. SA in the UAE in 2013?

He is not up for it anymore against pace when the ball sings. Yes South Africa tampered with the ball but he still failed.

Only a very optimistic person will expect good things from him and Misbah in England and Australia next year.

Thank God for ignore list

How is 28/4 only the fault of the top order? The ball was definitely swinging in the first session or so and Khan and Shafiq, being the best players of swing in our team, showed their class.

SA chose to bowl on a dry wicket knowing that Ajmal will come into his own on the last day??

Misbah and Younis have never looked better. What they may have lost in their hand-eye coordination, they more than make up with increased concentration, determination and experience.

Misbah's insatiable thirst for hitting bix sixes..

Adil Rasheed is having a nightmare.

any spinner from the domestic circuit wants to leave pakistan can go to england .. they are in desperate need of a good spinner now

Sri Lanka won the series thanks to brilliance of Sangakkara (better than both of our stalwarts) and the England team were unsettled.

Now they are settled and we do not enjoy that advantage.

We took an expired Hameed to England and Malik in the worst form of his life. Azhar was a newbie but held his own against both Australia and England because he was and is quality.

Players like Haris etc. will do okay, and that is why give them chance now so that they fill their boots in easy conditions like our maestros so that they go to England with some confidence and pedigree.

It will be an awful situation if we drop Younis and Misbah after England under pressure and throw young players into the deep end in Australia, which does not bode well as history shows.

Now is the perfect time for both of them to bow out of the game and allow us to plan for the future. They will leave us very soon, so why are we afraid.

How much test cricket do we play between now and our overseas tours next year?

Misbah once again improving his SR which took a hit against pacers.

On a side note, why isn't YK hitting any sixes against spinners anymore? I wanna see him dancing down the wicket and hitting a massive classy long on six.

Mamoon, be realistic. Likes of Younis Khan will never retire.

South Africa underestimated our ability to cash in on flat decks after they shot us for 49 in the first Test, and they nearly paid for it. Had we played two spinner we would have won the game.

They misread the pitch just like we did by playing one spinner only, whose darts nearly won us the game but he didn't have enough support.

Don't worry, PCB will arrange a series or two with Zimbabwe or Sri Lanka, which we always do. We are going to sit idle till next summer. I am sure we will find an opponent either before the PSL or after the PSL, after India's U-turn. Mr. Shahryar himself confirmed that we backup plans.

It would be an understatement to call it darts. That was the most beautiful piece of Test match bowling I saw by a Pakistani in 2013.

Poor Stokes, another glance down to third man and Misbah might make him cry.

Almost want him to get Misbah out just to see his inevitable over the top send off

Finally some good length from Rashid and ball spinning good for him, but not very good for English batsman.

Please not sri lanka. Weve played too much with them...

One series is certainly not going to be enough. The rebuilding process has to start after our difficult tours next year. Younis and Misbah won't be dropped after the English tour, they'll play against Australia too and then retire.
