I agree - today shoaib cant even thank the muslims in bangladesh for supporting pakistan because the crowd wants good cricket and pakistan are way below par
 
This match has pretty much gone away from us..
But I'm hoping that Malik bats till the end and gets some 50 odd runs...(just to regain his form and to learn some captaincy from Dhoni) :)

If shoaib malik had the capability of learning he would have learnt something by now - no slip when a new batsman comes to bat? touting himself as an allrounder who doesnt bowl? and foremost he would have learnt by now that he isnt captaincy material. Its almost as if our players become timid morons when Malik captains - our fielding has always been pathetic but under Malik it has become worse, even though we have a youger fitter team. Lawson's confidence in Malik doesnt help - it just makes Malik think that he is a good captain...what a crock...

look at the positives. 4 wickets were taken by one bowler and it was not exactly top-class bowling. Butt went to an extraodinary catch. Younis chased a wide one (shud have cut it). MoYo walked across the line (a habit of his).

At no point have the indians bowled in a way tht would indicate that they could contain the Pakistani batsmen from scoring. Pakistani bats kept up with the run rate. It's just tht they pressed the 'self-destruct' button on themselves.

I am sure the final will be a different story.

perhaps the bowling didnt look top notch but the fielding and field placement was and that is the difference. Dhoni thinks about the field Malik just resorts to defensive tactics once the first 4 is hit.

Well the pitch was flat too. Praveen has similar figures in last 4 of his matches, pitch or not!

India should have made 400 - they deserved to - I think afridi's spell may have the factor that kept them from doing so.

:))) ..Better batsmen than your lot have fallen prey to Praveen dude...it was no luck.He now has a four fer against Aus,SL and Pak all due to his capability to produce massive swing both ways.

And that Misbah's dismissal..that was tame.

I was just trying to find out some positives out of this negative match..
 
pakistani have a long history of screwing up finals so i wont be counting on them especially against india

I dont blame afridi for this - he bowled a good spell - Malik should have sent afridi to open or one down - against India his best performances have come as opener.

Yes Afridi made a mistake but he isnt the batsman for a 100-5 situation. He is bowler who can click with the bat at times. I would rather have him open and get a first ball duck or hit a couple of fours. In high run chases Afridi should open with Malik or Misbah coming in at no 3 and moyo and younis in the middle order. Flexibility is the key.

Shoaib Malik doesnt a deserve a 50 based on his horrid captaincy today - I have a solution for DNA - let malik captain against the minnows and then let a real man like afridi captain against real men like dhoni... :))) :))) :)))
 
Malik on course for another one of his useless 50's (that will have no effect on the match result whatsoever). Well done kuptaan ji.

it was silly of Lawson to say that anyways... it always booosts the opposition since then they have a REASON to fight harder

If BCCI had said, tri nations will be a walk over, we'll rip bdesh's and paks into shreads.. then it would have motivated us more.. it was just stupid to say that imo

I would say they should have been out below 300 actually because there were three catches dropped of the two players who went on to make big scores

Why would anyone be surprised at that - the match was lost when he came into bat so he had no pressure - he wasnt trying to win the game - at least afridi trying to hit out was an attempt to win the game :))) :))) :)))

I don't think you understand, the other 10 players in green should only be concerned with helping Afridi maintain his average and his reputation. To hell with what the team needs.

yeah my above post covers that aspect - dropped catches is a staple of the pakistan team.

Why is the team failure only put on Captain? I don't get this, when the team wins, no one give any credit to the captain. When the team loses, it becomes captain's fault. I don't buy these double standards. People blammed Inzi for WC failure when the whole team was misserable. Now that your team loses after winning 12 straight (although they were against lesser opponent but a win is a win), people are just going left right and centre against Malik. Just for that fact, Ponting should be stripped off his captancy because his team is starting to lose.

afridi was the best bowler today - the standard of success people place on him is to win games single handedly ... come on - why didnt brilliant shoaib malik bat up the order and not when it was 4 down? after they lost the top 3 he should have stepped up to the plate and saved misbah for the death - he could have slowed things down at that point if he wanted - whats the point of trying to slow things down when you are 5 down - at that point the probability of success is very low as it is - you might as well hit out like afridi does. One cannot expect a 200 run partnership from no 6 and no 7.

those 12 wins are a joke mate, i wuldnt credit any player in enabling us to win those games because we were deat certs to win them. Playing India and other big teams is the real test of a captains mettle

a win against bangladesh and zimbabwe is not a win in my opinion - its like saying saying the lakers are on 10 game winning steak against the memphis grizzlies and the new york knicks - no one in their right mind would give merrit to that winning streak.
 
Looking at the cricinfo it looks like batting like Malik - scoring mostly in single - is the better way to chase. Most of the top order scored more in boundries

no he lost us in the first 6 months of his captaincy - we all supported him but he just does not have it in him.

Afridi is a slogger, so whatever he does on the cricket field is rendered insignificant. So what if he was the best bowler today and our best ODI bowler, every single match? So what if the rest of our batting also surrendered meekly? He's Afridi, it has to be his fault.

What if Lakers lose to those Memphises and New Yorks? Your argument is completely baseless, if Pakistan had lost any one of those matches people would have been going after Malik left right and centre. They won all of them and now you say you don't consider them wins. Please set your mind straight. Remember, a win is always a win no matter who you play. Philli took Boston to seven games in their opening round series. Does that make Boston a bad team, I gues not. They are still in the finals and leading by 2-0.

I respect the fact that they whitewashed Bangladesh and Zimbo. Nothing wrong with that. But why mention it in every press conference?
