I respect the fact that they whitewashed Bangladesh and Zimbo. Nothing wrong with that. But why mention it in every press conference?
Agreed with that.

What if Lakers lose to those Memphises and New Yorks? Your argument is completely baseless, if Pakistan had lost any one of those matches people would have been going after Malik left right and centre. They won all of them and now you say you don't consider them wins. Please set your mind straight. Remember, a win is always a win no matter who you play. Philli took Boston to seven games in their opening round series. Does that make Boston a bad team, I gues not. They are still in the finals and leading by 2-0.
philly is a good team - young but good -

my point is that to tout a 12 game winning steak against ban and zim as an achievement is a misnomer

This innings - taken out of context - is a very good one so far.

Yeah but the argument that he led from the front wont hold. Leading from the front only counts in helping your team get out of a difficult situation rather than in a losing cause.

Malik can bat no doubt but he cant bowl nor captain.

Make afridi captain for 6 months for better or for worse everyone will shut up after that.

I don't think you understand, the other 10 players in green should only be concerned with helping Afridi maintain his average and his reputation. To hell with what the team needs.

not that am a fan of afridi....but hes done decently in todays match ..bowled pretty well & by the time he came to bat the match was pretty much over ...its stupidity to expect afridi to come and play a match winning innings with 5 wickets down ....thot he shud have opened today though!

Phuddu kaptaan making another meaningless 50 in a losing cause.
Everyone know he is pish.

But surely akcnowledgement of a good innings is not too much to ask for.

If only Malik had come earlier! Good innings so far, although it will be useless. Only batsman who has played sensibly for us today

I dont understand this attac on captain
he is playing the correct way, it is the others who have not followed his example

Malik 50 off 59 balls
one more innings like that from top order in the match (only 18 runs off boundries) would have made it a close match.

right and as captain he should have led from the front and come in at no. 3

gibster82 said:
he is your no 7 batsman how the **** is it his fault? he should either open or not be considered a batting option.

unless your post was sarcastic?

The problem is that in winning situations Shoaib Malik comes out to bat sooner like the last game when he came out before Fawad Alam and Misbah and didnt give Fawad a chance to bat again but in loosing situations he comes out at sixth which is pretty late.

Yup his captaincy is poor etc.

But the individual innings - on its own - is a god one. Singles, twos and a couple of fours with a six. Well structured, and he should bat at 3.

That will never happen (people shutting up). Afridi lovers find a way to defend him by picking on someone.

he is playing the correct way because by the time he came in it was almost a lost cause - he isnt taking any risks in a lost encounter - india arent even trying to get him out at this point -

if he fails he's out of the team for good. Make or break give him the option. I think he may actually come through for pak

Malik, playing himself to form? Whatever, couldnt even clear the fence. Loser, plays an attacking shot after some time and gets out to the leggie.

No it wasn't. Whilst Misbah and Malik were at the crease we had a good chance

First he needs to calm himself down and then lead the whole team. Every now and then he gets into a fight with someone. A true Pathan. Never thinks with his mind.

you dont have a good chance when you need 250+ with only 5 or 6 wickets in hand and your first 3 made only 18 runs and more so when you dropped a batsman (fawad alam) in place of bowler rao :))) :))) :)))

Its not that a 50 isnt a decent innings, its the approach thats in question. When the chips were down he hid behind Misbah today and whenever we play against the minnows or are in a commanding position he comes in to bat earlier.

During his innings at the crease there was nothing in his approach that would even hint that he is thinking of chasing the total and seemed like a man surrendered.

have you seen the way he captains in domestic cricket? when fielding and bowling he is very calm and his strategy is usually very apt for the situation - i see no problem in him being captain.

kashif (or whoever the PP commentator is) is excited that we aint losing by 150 runs today lol lol lol

tRaoundler is our savior.

Kuptaan ji put up a brave fight, but we lost by a mere 140 runs. Well done Malik and company.

i agree that was on point - he does not even attempt to lead from the front.

I don't see how this is malik's fault as far as batting is concerned. I don't think the batting order is the major problem here, it is the form of our top players. Younis has been an established number 3 for a while now but he is going through a rough patch. The best way to fix this is to keep him in his spot and allow him time at the crease.

And Mr. butler kuptaan tips his cap to every single player in the Indian dressing room. What a fighting attitude this guy has.

praveen kumar seems to be a nice guy in the interview

I wouldnt imagine him of someone beating a doctor up :P

You serious?

This is the real reason why we lost the game today:
Extras (b 5, lb 4, w 20, nb 9) 38

Do you know why we do this? The darpok shmuck came in at number 3 against the might of Zimbabwe; look at where he batted today when that approach was needed the most. We bash the phuddu for a reason.
Game, when a team loses nothing seems right. He could have walked in at 3 and failed. My point is, why didn't the others do what he did? For once he didnt let the team down, but YK, misbah and afridi did, bigtime.

Those who have it... tune in Dawn News at 11:05 pm PST n watch Late Swing..
Imagine what would be the reaction of those guys (especially Sherry Malik) over this heavy defeat.....!

adios amigos, see you for the finals...(unless BD give one of us a nasty surprise)
now that should be a humdinger

Err. You lost by 140 runs.
The game was essentially lost after the first innings, 330 was always a tough ask. you can't fault the batsmen for that. It always required something special to win it. If the extras were not there, the score would have been below 300 and is psychologically very different. Compare these extras with India's 3. 20 wides? 9 no balls? can you imagine that? Count the runs scored on those balls.

might be in pakistan, but here in europe there is no dawn news as a channel, but they do air their news on PTV.

I guess its only their news that gets aired, so i probably wont get to see it

You can find a stream for DAWN. the channel is not widely available as GEO or ARY. It is in English BTW

And the Kaptaan saib says that we were playing with 5 full time bowlers so thats why he didnt bowl...........I think he forgot about yunis bowling that last over

That's the most retarded interview I have ever heard.

Arun Lal: You must be missing another spinner.
Malik: Yeeeah, we need an offspiner and we are ..(long pause)... looking for him
Arun Lal: Then why didn't you bowl ?
Malik: (Malik first gestures towards his shoulder then folds his hands sheepisly) Well we had 5 regular bowlers so that is why I didn't bowl.

:69: :69:

So basically they are looking for an off spinner but they won't bowl an offspinner (Malik being one) because they have 5 regular bowlers in the side. That sums up his mental capacity for me.
