Guys

Having watched the last 2 test matches Ind/Eng with keen interest, it got me thinking....if there was a hypothetical test match starting next week in England between Pakistan/India...who would win?

Now, to make this fun lets assume the following:

1. The match will be played at Lords with the same conditions as this one that has just finished (same rain interruptions etc).

2. Both teams field exactly the same sides as their last games (interesting itself because Pakistan's last test match was in the UK albeit at Headingly).

So...the teams are:

India

M Vijay
K Rahul
C Pujara
V Kohli
A Rahane
H Pandya
D Khartik
R Ashwin
K Yadav
M Shami
I Sharma

Pakistan

A Ali
I Ul-Haq
H Sohail
A Shafiq
U Salahuddin
S Ahmed
S Khan
F Ashraf
M Amir
H Ali
M Abbas

...Both teams have strengths and weaknesses. Have bowlers who are handy in English conditions, batsmen who are vulnerable against the moving ball, fielders who are decent...and others who are not..and of course some pretty decent players!

My initial thoughts are that Pakistan would have this however If you look at the players, consider the conditions and the individual bowler vs batsmen battles and really think this game through I think it would be an interesting match.

This is not a thread designed to bash either team - purely for fun and to really think about test cricket (which for me is still the best format there is!)

Your thoughts?

Damn...I was just about to start this thread! i would bring in Yasir Shah for a more apt comparison...

Pakistan by a mile.

Far superior bowling attack + batting lineup in these conditions

Will depend on when will the cloud cover comes up over the 5 days test.

Pakistan would win by an Inns, inside 3 days max.

India for the following reasons:

1. Their captain has an aura and inspires his teammates to improve their performance.
2. Their batting lineup is envious and easily the best in the world with at least 5-10 good years left.
3. The bowling gap between India and Pakistan is as wide as the batting gap.
4. India are always competitive overseas.
5. You cannot fluke tests. If a test is played between these two teams at any venue, India would beat Pakistan 9 out of 10 times.

In Tests I'd guess Pakistan would beat India in English conditions, India would beat Pakistan in Australian conditions.

Pakistan.

Indian batsmen could not even handle Amir on a flat road in CT 2017 Finals. How can they handle him with a ton of cloud cover?

Forget Amir. Abbas would have a field day against them.

Although Pakistani fielders may drop some catches.

Game will end in 3 days. With low scores and a thriller end.

I'd pay my hard earned Euros to watch this one :P

So are we asking the question who would win the match between no.1 and no.7 team?? :inti

omg I just did a quick google search (not) and realized that never in the history of the entire human race and beyond has a lower ranked sports team ever beaten a higher ranked sports team (or individual).

Amazing insight.

Pakistan- they would bowl with greater commitment and would eke out more runs.

Pakistan at Lord's and Oval; India probably everywhere else.

Idk about result but indian xi should be:

M Vijay
K Rahul
C Pujara
V Kohli
A Rahane
R Pant
R Ashwin
B Kumar
M Shami
J Bumrah
I Sharma/Umesh

Honestly I don’t think India are cut out for it.
They should stick to IPL

potw!

Pakistan have won at Lord’s only because England is their Bogey team, India will humilate Pakistan at Lords

If India's batsmen fired , they would win. If they don't, Pakistan would win.

I think a lot would depend on the toss, but I would make Pakistan favourites for this hypothetical fixture. Reasons being they have a good record at Lord's, psychologically this could benefit them a lot. Also, Pakistan tend to do good against India when it's not an ICC event, there is less pressure.
