What's new

Pakistan vs New Zealand | 1st ODI | Abu Dhabi | Nov 7, 2018 | New Zealand Innings

Ross is one of the most under rated batsman in world cricket - even I didn't know he had 19 hundreds in 205 games and a stats of 46/83

People were calling for Shaheen to work on his variations during the T20 series - well here's a slower ball and he's got the dangerman out.

People saying that must have never seen him bowl. He even has reverse swing in his weaponary at this age which some experience bowlers of some others team still dont have

Shaheen Shah is much better bowler than Junaid. He should go to SA along with Amir, Abbas, Hassan and Mir for Tests.

NZ is weaken a lot without Guptill. Williamson should be desperate. If he/Taylor gets out cheaply, Pakistan will win easily.

Taylor is playing, while Guptill would have struggled on these wickets

He's a legend. NZ's best bat of all time. Pak. need to get him out soon.

Quite a contrasting bowling combination, on a wicket I couldn't figure out yet. At Abu Dhabi, you play 2, if not 3 spinners; Kiwis have gone with 4 pacers, while PAK has struck 2 blows in PP with new ball!!! I think, Shantner probably would have come in XI, had he been fit, but still Kiwis are looking at an early strike with new ball, won't be surprised if they start like a Test match field.

The problem with SONY LIV is that the tab shows the current score while the stream is behind by 5 minutes.

Lol! Sarfaraz saying no confuses williamson. Now thats something never heard of

Imam could be exposed today

Kiwi legend definitely, but I'll take Martin Crowe for the bold line; over all Williamson is slightly better as well (his stats are 47/83 - but doesn't hit brutally, hence no one cares about how good a batsman KW is).

Lmao is Doul clueless ? Sarfraz is saying ooo to his fielders to run fast anc create run out not Noo.. Bazid is also clueless

He deceived Rohit with a stunning slower ball during the Asia Cup but the fielder (Imam??) grassed the simple chance.

Williamson is technically better but he lacks power game. Taylor has quite a few memorable innings in ODIs and has very high impact when he is in touch. For a neutral, Taylor will have a better legacy.

Naa. Williamson will 100% surpass him. His numbers will be too much to argue against.

Good over from hassan, looks like he might be amongst wickets if he carries on this way

Williamson has the best technique & touch among fav 4 - he does things his own silky way. Last T20, he made best 60 of the series at 160 SR on this slow wicket, and I didn't notice that before looking at SR. In last ODI series at UAE, he played one of the best innings here in series decider.

I was speaking of present. If Williamson can play for another 7 years he will be undisputed best batsman for NZ in every format. I should have been accurate with my tense.

Imad has finally developed skills for bowling with older bowl, slight variation of pace with little bit of spin

Hassan needs not to experiment much, wicekts will come. In Asia cup he was trying too much.

They don't lack power game. It's just, they're not the world's best when it comes to hitting. Same for Kohli tbh.

It's very rare you'll see a player who is among the best in all facets. Only ABD.

ABD is perhaps the most naturally talented batsman of all time, he is the biggest freak cricketer I have seen. I consider myself fortunate to see ABD play live.

Result of the match as well as the series will totally depend upon whether Pak can maintain the intensity throughout and dont have that let loose 5-10 overs

Should get a wicket here otherwise Shadab will be attacked.

The job he is doing, can't that be done by Haris or Saud?

Imad has more than 150 first class wickets which gives him that bowler’s mentality who knows how to bowl under pressure. Saud can be a decent 6th option but dont think Saud and Haris can handle themselves well when under pressure. I doubt they would have taken the wickets of ABD and Amla in CT in such a pressure match.

Plus Imad gives option with a new ball if required.

Correction: its 140 wickets Imad has in FC

Strange innings so far.

Lots of dots, not many singles but too many boundaries conceded (7 in 14 overs).

Yes i've always noticed that KW times the ball better than Root, Kohli, Smith etc. Never overhits the ball. Very classy batsman to watch.

But his economy does

Also last over, three singles, then goes talks to Sarfraz, gets two dots and over only goes for 4 runs. Haris/Saud would be milked for 6/7 runs. It doesn't sound that big of a difference, but in a grand scheme of things, it is.

Hassan is getting that little bit of late movement today just need to maintain a consistent line and length

Imad's role in the ODI team?? Answers on a postcard please.

This is the time to attack. These two form the backbone of NZ's batting. Letting them milk Imad is what they want.

He is unfortunate not to get 4-5 Tests series like the other 3, otherwise against most current attack, he would have got multiple 500-600 runs series as well, which is why his average in Test is still below 50. Every top batsmen (averaging over 50) made their numbers from few mega series, which doesn't happen if you play 1-2-3 Tests in every 6 months.

Two senior batsmen rebuilding nicely.

I don't feel we've enough threat during the middle-overs, especially since the loss of Saeed Ajmal. I just don't understand the team management's aversion to playing a specialist spinner in these conditions.

Imad is useless unless the asking is 7+, that too with newish ball. Today, he had the perfect platform with 2 down early and the hitter gone, and he is bowling in dry condition without dew - I hope he proves me wrong today.

Imad isnt a odi class spinner and technically solid batsmen will always find him easy to play.

Pakistan should look towards Mohammad Irfan (legspinner).

I think Hafeez needs to get some overs in as well might not get wickets but will slow these batman down

There you go. Bring the legspinner on and attack, and you get a wicket.

BIG wicket, very un Williamson like - hit a long hop straight to mid wickets belly!!!!

Good to see Malik also offering some input between the wicket, it's often just Hafeez trying to give his 2 cents on everything

Irfan (legspinner) was the highest wicket taker in the recent QeA Cup and was also one of the highest wicket takers in last year's Departmental Cup. Why isn't he being considered?

Latham batted well in the UAE in 2014 so not to be underestimated.

The only thing Ramiz knows about Pakistani players is Hafiz is excellent against left handers .

i think Inzi even does not know that.

That's not on from Taylor. He comes across as having a bad character.
