pakistan would be stupid to not go for it the last overs now....at least until a wicket falls !

So its settled now .. we are stupid! I see no chance in hell of Pakistan going for it

Pakistan reaches a score of 300 for the first time in this test series.

They failed to do so in their previous 4 tests.

I remember India attempted something like that against England last year and nearly threw away the match!!!!
I remember that but we have more wickets in hand if I'm not mistaken.

yea as soon as Pathan they went for it. They needed 120 in about 20 overs (not sure though). All the accomplished though was giving England a sniff and victory.

Yousuf is showing his class here. He's gonna get yet another hundred. And we're going to win the game today.

From what I am reading on Cricinfo, it seems the South African bowlers are bowling tremendously with great pace and bounce.

In hindsight a 1-0 loss won't dent our confidence as much as a whitewash.

I wish they would play a few shots now... Its not really impossible to get 8.5/over from here. It would be quite difficult yes, but with two slips in theres plenty of open space in the field. Only thing lacking is intent.

lol, and we pick just two pacers, one of whom couldnt stand the heat. Hopeless!

If Yusuf playing for his average? Don't tell me he's started to think about Miandad's record already?

Losing the series to a team who have lost his last 4 series in subcontinent is pathetic.

Thats an ugly trophy.... on the bright side malik wont have to hold that. :))

SA win 1-0. Not a great test series im afraid. The only highlight for me was younis' batting in the first test.

:20: :20: :20: :20: I don´t think so. They waited till tea and kept nine in hand and when the second wicket fell they sent Irfan Pathan, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh up the order to try and hit a few. They were never in danger of losing the match as they still had guys like Tendulkar, Laxman, Kaif to bat.

Inzi receiving a 'lifetime achievement' gold medal!

Looking quite calm & cool

Speaks in Urdu!!!

At last - he'll express himself in the way he should do!!

The Big Man has asked Robin Jackman to let him express himself in Urdu.

Inzi getting a bit emotional - thanking selectors, players, captains etc.

He said "Thank you boys!............" perhaps for the last time. How a sad seen.........

I grew up man & boy watching Inzi.

I feel quite empty inside...weird.

Hello chaps!

So, do we concede that

a) the Saffies are a better Test team than Pakistan?

b) the Inzi experiment didn't work but what the heck, at least we got to see him play in a Test match again?

c) the long version, of the shortened version of the OD game is a lot of fun and needs to be concentrated on more by Pakistan? That is, crack down on the plethora of short games.

Well done on drawing the match, congratulations to South Africa on winning the series.

filosofee, sorry my prediction didn't come true.

You going to make me walk over hot coal now?

Anyway, SA played better cricket than us on 7-7.5 out of the 10 days (in total), so they deserved to win the series. I wish there was a 3rd test because I think we would have played much better there, maybe even won it. Our batsman did not bat with any responsobility or battle until the 2nd innings today and yesterday. I guess they were still stuck in the 20-20 mentality but good that they have got it out of their system now.

Inzi is a Pakistan legend....whether he breaks this record or that record is meaningless to me.

a) Yes.
b) It was a touch unfortunate but no big deal.
c) No, the longest version is by far the best.

Hi, PP! Did you enjoy your birthday the other day?

I think you mean YES for point c. (It's the way that I've worded it that has probably confused - I meant, Tests are the form of cricket).

Why thank you, filosofee.

I am confident we will be fine in India. Shoaib will have learnt a lot of lessons from this series which he can take there and use. Our team will hopefully be much more settled as well.

Don't really believe in the T20 excuse. Thats how our batsman usually play. Yousuf was out of touch so he couldn't press big in the 1st inning & didn't play the 1st test. Younis got out to low deliveries in both inning in 1st test & played a poor shot in 1st inning of 2nd test. Iqbal, Butt, Kami & Hafeez were exactly how they usually are. Misbah did well on his test return. Inzi... well you know. So you can't really blame T20. And the type of pitch made in both the test matches played a part.

i blame the two test series should have been longer, SAF getting the luck of the dice, winning two tosses in a row.

simple

And that to. I heard a news anchor (indus sports) say that he asked a PCB offical why Pakistan are playing a test match series & his relpy was 'we are glad that they atleast came to pakistan two test matches or three'! Now what can i say...? :12:

Wining and Losing is part of the game. Yes South Africa played wonderful cricket and were the deserving winners. But as a fan what makes it difficult for me to consume Pakistani Defeats is the fact we dont learn from our mistakes and we continue to stick to out of form players.

Our strategy was defensive and flawed from the beggining. The two spinner strategy was never going to work. The SA are much improved players of Spin. We should have played an extra seamer. But Shoaib Malik continues to insist this strategy was right. Now i get pissed of by statements like that because now it means he is going to repeat the same mistake in the future.

We need to address our batting issues, like try to make it more consistent. Improve the techniques of our batters, encourage patience and improved Shot selection at the crease.
Something must be done about Kaneria, as the main spinner in our squad, he should have done much better, in this series he hardly looked threatening and didnt apply any kind of pressure at all. Maybe some time out of the team will give him the kick he needs. Same must be done for Kamran Akmal, his mistakes are too costly for our team.

We need to urgently look for another 90mph bowler out there, Just having Shoaib Akhtar in the team isnt enough. You must have some back up. Australia have done the right thing in grooming the likes of Tait, Johnson to support Lee.

We could have easily given South Africa a run for their money this series. All we need is a full strength squad. I am dying to see a full strength Pakistani team in action.

for what? for records and stats? I have watched both the matches little bit and for both the matches stadium was almost empty. I wouldn't blame the cricket board since the response from the public is so cold.

stadiums were empty because of Monday-Friday tests and Ramadan. We got a half decent crowd in today. The series definitely needed a 3rd Test.

Hard luck Pakistan . South Africa did play well...especially that guy you all say is highly over-rated (Kallis) ....and your bowling did lack a thrid seam option .....lets all move on to the one day stuff...
