Malik again you provide ammunition for your haters. Pakistan are in a comfortable position and to force the pace you bring yourself ahead of Afridi and Misbah.

Can anyone else see Selfish Malik written on his shirt or is it just me?

And if Malik had sent in Afridi and Afridi would have done his usual failure with the bat, then the same 'haters' would say that the batting was going at a great run rate and there was no reason to bring Afridi in. And they would have said that Malik was 'hiding down the order' and too scared to face Zimbabwe.

You cant be bothered about what 'haters' think because they (by their very nature) will find fault with everything you do regardless!! :D

haha, precisely.

Luckily Pakistan scored 330+, if they had scored anything in the region of 250+, they would be sweating buckets now....Zimbabwe are not the walkover as everyone had expected....

Ideal case scenario: Zimbabwe make 300+ and come close and really shame our captain maharaja golden boy Malik

this is getting really petty now

Just a few home truths....when Shoaib Malik gets out defensive mode and works to build a cohesive team unit, then team Pakistan can move forward, at the moment, Pakistan are stagnated and need direction from a leader and not a 'Haan-ji" man

very defensive mindset by malik not leaving a slip in place .. there have been a couple of edges that could have been snapped up

he'd shift the blame to the young bowlers being tried out..and pak would go back to the same old routine of recalling by-gone players like razzaq

These zimbos can play a little I reckon . They consistantly semi compete with the main sides with a good few players in the bunch .

Zim got 3 good batters to come yet .....they could post a 300 of their own...

not impressed at all by Niazi. Hope Sohail Khan's elbow is ok and he can play.

Master stroke(?) by Malik, bring Afridi on the 22nd over and he picks up a wicket.

Why was there a need to bowl Samiullah out, did he think we will need him in the death overs?

Who is going to bowl in the last 10 overs, Shoaib Malik, Afridi, Rao and Tanvir, I imagine Zimbabwe are really looking forward to that prospect.

As i predicted earlier in day Zimbos struggling against Malik/Afridi combo..

Zimbabwe need 158 runs to win off the last 10 overs at a whopping asking rate of 15.80 per over

Zimbabwe 192/6 (41.0 ov)

Pakistan can hopefully wrap this game up now.

Another wicket for malik his 3rd and overall spinners have taken 5 wickets!

Another one gone, 195 for 7 and its 3 wickets for the skipper.

Younis Khan onto bowl now - Against better oppostion pakistan will need to find the balance of having a 6th bowler.

Zimbabwe need 116 runs off the last over now. This is going to be a disappointing loss for them at the very start of the series.

Zimbabwe 243/7 (50.0 ov)

Pakistan win by 104 runs

Match Positives: Good batting contributions from just about everyone

Negatives: Our ODI fast bowling looks toothless ... and if Samiullah is the best we have in our domestic circuit ... gulp ... we are in deep doodoo.

The fact that pak needed spinners to take 5 wickets against a team like Zim shud set the alarm bells ringing on the pace dept.. this is turning out to be another "india" in the late 90s

A nice easy 104 run win. We didn't even break into a sweat.

You do know that three of our frontline bowlers are missing. And there is a significant difference in class between those three and the next crop of bowlers

congratulations Pak!!!

Expected result. Zimbabwe might never recover and spend the entire series losing badly.

Great win !!!

Everyone did well except Niazi I think but lets hope he does well in other games.

y did Pak play 9 batsmen today?!
They shud hav had another specialist (new) bowler...

anywayz..good debut for Nasir jamshed...aome of his strokes wer absolutely great!!
Not a good debut for Samiullah Niazi....10 overs, 60 runs, no wicket!

and wat a mess our commentators did!!!
Next tym, wenever Mushtaq talks..do count his 'you know like'
and wat did Waqar do on the toss!!!

Only one match so far,

I will reserve judgement for Niazi and Nasir.

Pakistan won very comfortably but it was more down to Zimbabwe's inability to play spin than anything.

I didn't watch this, can any tell me a bit more about Niazi. Who does he bowl like?
Fast, medium, swing, seam????

good win as any win is a good one...however samiullah was rubbish, jamshed was brilliant and we need to try at least three more new bowlers!!..but alas we will probably see shahid nazir come back after they use samiullah as an example of how the youngsters are not ready!!

Dont know what to make of this victory

if we had lost, we would have been laughing stocks - if we win, well - its only Zimbabwe !

you are right..some things to take (or not) from the victory,

- another debutant batsman who starts off in blistering fashion..good
technique? doubt it..talent? yes...will he go on? time will only tell..

- some much needed points for the icc table

- bowling back-up is absolutely useless...(poor rana naved ul hasan!)

- fielding - except the usual performers (namely younis khan), completely unprofessional, no signs of improvement whatsoever!!!

Well, according to the speed gun he was bowling military medium. Supposedly he moves the ball both ways but I didn't see any movement today. Maybe a bit early to reserve judgment but he was distinctly ordinary, Tanvir was miles better.

I think he deserves another few chances. He could have come in trying to be over careful and not playing his natural game.

I hope Sohail Khan's injury is not too bad and he can play some part in this series.

exactly.

How good is Nasir Jamshed??? He was playing guys bowling 130s top today. Thats why its pretty pointless to try out youngsters in these matches. we have past examples of Hameed against Bangladesh and Farhat against NZ but when a quality opposition came they faded away. They should be thrown right into the fire and not worried about "big" "small" series talk.
