What's new

Pakistan win the final game of the series by four wickets

Think Malik's been given one last chance to prove himself in a position of responsibility. Some might say he failed before as he batted too low down the order.

Rizwan will get more opportunities in the future likely even if he's dropped. Though tough to see Malik returning again if he gets dropped.

Personally though if Malik had to play, I would have just batted Sarfraz at four, then Rizwan and then Malik.

what would be your 11 for the windies ?

I'm very iffy on Malik, part me wants to retain him, another part of me says boot him

Umar id rather have waited to bring him back, but i think now the situation is getting increasingly desperate

the issue is that now it will be clear in his head Pakistan needs him, when really he should be the one working his way back into the squad.

1. Sharjeel
2. Azhar - not my choice but he will stay
3. Babar
4. Sarfaz
5. Malik/ Umar
6. Umar/Hammad/Yameen
7. Imad
8. Amad But
9. Amir
10. Zafar
11. Hasan

Malik is looking good against Wood - which is surprising due to his pace.

Seriously I thought Pakistan may win this game.

Even now, its winnable.

But need to just bat properly.

96/3 in 17 overs..

200/4 in 35 overs.....

100 runs in last 15....totally doable.

Just need to keep wickets in tact.

But will they is the question.

Bhai do you even have to ask... Obviously they wont.

How dare you imply such planning? This is Pakistan cricket

For me it would be unfair for Hammad to get the spot over Yamin. Hammad has failed to impress, while Yamin batted quite well last time, with intelligence and precision, which these days is quite rare when it comes to Pakistani batsmen.

Would be interested in knowing how you would like to spread the overs between those potential 6.

Chalo spinner is here some reprieve for sarfaraz

The part of you that wants to boot him out should win that argument.

With the next two ICC tournaments being in England and Malik's abysmal record there, plus his deficiencies against pace, he should be quietly ushered out the door.

I hope Haris can get over his fitness issues as I'd do a straight swap.

Yea true. I find Malik useful on Asian tracks though. Not to forget a decent fielder as well.

Really good from Sarfraz tryna put pressure on this new guy. Really want Rizwan to do well today too

That would be my line up I think. Nawaz would be in the squad if we need a second spinner instead of a pacer, which we might given it's the windies who are weaker against spin usually. I'm not sure who I'd bring it at 6, whichever middle order batsman is performing. I dunno who to suggest. Maybe Haris if he's fit again. Or Usman Salahuddin?

I don't think we need another allrounder in Hammad or Yamin, Imad's enough as an allrounder IMO, we don't need another one. I'd rather go with a proper batsman.

As I said before, its a seriously doable chase.

Just need to keep ticking the scoreboard and play safe.

200 in 35 overs and we will have a nice contest.

firstly, i agree Yameen deserves a place far more then Hammad, but i wont discount the other

Ammad Butt is a massive gamble. However he has many promisisng atributes and Pakistan domestic cricket has completely failed to develop allrounders. They just get stuck into quagmire. So i would risk him in the team but the issue is his bowling is still wayward and you need to have a saftey net.

I expect Amir and Hasan to bowl out.

If hasan survied without getting a massive beating on this tour he should be fine elsewhere. Imad im still unsure on but i think he can give you ten overs, likewise with zafar.

Hammad/Yameen/ Malik, whoever it is needs to sneak in 3- 5 overs imo .

Leave Amad as a second change bowler. He has the pace to do a job.

Good think is both Amir and hasan can bowl in the death, that will take the pressure off the third seamer

far from ideal, but i think moving forward we need to take risks

Decent first 20 overs though Azhar and Babar should've prevented their dismissals IMO. Azhar with a nothing shot and Babar too expansive leaving a big gap between bat and pad.

Someone's got to get a big innings. Malik needs to save his career so he might actually contribute here on a fairly slow pitch with no big demons though Dawson's got one to turn.

So 117 from 126 balls so far.. no bad and better than what we usually do

Yea true. I find Malik useful on Asian tracks though. Not to forget a decent fielder as well.

As I've said many times and been mocked, it's very important to do well in Asia, we play the majority of our cricket there. And we aren't even winning in asia at the moment, so that would be a start.

Trouble is Malik hasn't even performed in asia these days. Last time he was consistently performing was 2009, he's been in and out of the team and generally poor for around 7 years. He did have a good series in Sri Lanka (then again a lot of our players did in that series) but then failed against England in the UAE.

Dawson's approach to the crease is pretty similar to Asghar's.

Again two bastsmen are set , one has to bat till the end , if Pakistan have to win this game.

Agree with you on most of it however I'm a bit worried about sneaking in those 3-5 overs. Hammad's bowling from what I've seen of it, lacks sting and he doesn't really look like taking a wicket, I feel like batsmen will really go after him.

Malik is a pretty clueless bowler these days, I remember in the WC when the pitch was a rank turner, Malik and Afridi were bowling too full and couldn't use the pitch to their advantage because of this.

Yamin I can't say much about tbh, from what I've seen, he looks like a decent economical bowler but take what I've said with a pinch of salt, I've seen him bat more than bowl.

So I hope that it is Yamin who gets the spot... especially since he looks a better batsmen than Hammad and it won't take much for him to be able to play pace better than Malik.

streaky boundary but 50 partnership up!

We have a chance folks!

Just tuning in. Sharjeel fails again. Good strike rate for Azhar. Babar gets a start, but again throws it away. Middle order batting well though. :ab

For a change, they are trying to keep up with the asking rate. This is the only way to utilize the depth - 140 of last 15 never works, even with 10 wickets at hand.

agree unless you lose early wickets - which happens a lot for us.

Sarfraz needs to bat in the top 4. Azhar needs to go. Sharjeel keep going as he is a hit or miss despite his huge flaws, but in this day and age you need people who can hit the ball. Who to put beside him is the question.

Mickey should not mess with Sarfaraz's position now, let him make #5 his own. Literally the perfect guy to have at 5.

Sarfaraz this sarfaraz that! Seriously .. guy averages 50ish in the series at a high strike rate .. he is an accumulator. . Only player in the team who can rotate strike .. granted, he's not a hitter .. slogger .. he can't hit sixes .. but I'd rather have a player who can make runs at an average of 35 40 at a strike rate of 85 than a player who will make 20 at 150 .. the amount of stick he cops is unbelievable.. 2 of the most highly regarded Pakistani cricketers across the cricketing world (sarfaraz and misbah) get incredible amount of stick from our own fans .. crazy! Really is! .. we love afridi .. we love sloggers..

149/3 overs 25 overs. Pretty good rate. If they only get even 51 runs in the next 10 overs, its only 103 runs required over 15. Barring collapse, it's a very winnable game.
