His interesting story in past had caught attention of international media where he was dubbed ‘The Last Jew in Pakistan’.

JUI-F Senator and religious scholar Mufti Abdul Sattar, commenting over the issue, said a child was not bound to carry on the religion of his/her father or mother. “If the claimant is adult and never practiced Islam (as claimed by Benkhald that he never practiced Islam his whole life except Judaism) then he is free to adopt any religion of his choice,” Sattar said and added that the state was bound to mention religion of his choice in his identity documents.

Sattar said as per teachings of Abu Hanifa, if a person practiced Islam in the past but later renounced it and adopted some other religion then he/she is bound to be punished.

Punishment, according to him, includes a three-day jail to rethink the decision, but if that person still insists he would be punished to death. However, he categorically stated that fatwa was implementable in countries/societies where Sharia laws were implemented in totality not partially like in Pakistan.

Hard time accepting that people know about the punishment of apostasy yet continue to follow the religion.

Here a couple of ayahs from the Quran:

"And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." 9:5

"And if they break their oaths after their treaty and defame your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief, for indeed, there are no oaths [sacred] to them; [fight them that] they might cease." 9:12

This is what the extremis, radica, fanatic, fundamentalist Mullah propagates and defames Islam Worldwide presenting a barbaric picture of religion potraying it not as a religion which gives life but a religion which takes life. This contradicts Quranic verse " La Ikraha Fiddeen "

These verses refer to those leading enemies of Islam that broke peace treaties with the Muslims and lodged military offensives against them. “And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and attack your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief - Lo! They have no binding oaths - in order that they may desist.”

These verses admonish Muslims NOT to fight a disbeliever only on account of their disbelief. The newly emerging State of Medina was faced with hostilities from all sides. These verses relate to such times of war. If the disbelievers broke their covenant of peace by attacking the Muslims, the Holy Quran permitted fighting back the heads of such warring tribes. Self-defense is a right permitted elsewhere in the Holy Quran as well.

Holy Quran states :

" Those who believe, then disbelieve, then again believe, then disbelieve and then increase in disbelief, Allah will never forgive them nor will He guide them to the right way ". (4:138)

This verse proclaims that persons who renounce Islam have the opportunity to re-enter Islam if they so choose. This verse disproves the assertion that according to the Holy Quran an apostate should be put to death. Were death the automatic punishment for an apostate then there arises no question of having the opportunity to join Islam again. This verse mentions apostates who again accept Islam.

There is no mention in the Holy Quran or anywhere else of any punishment for an apostate which may be meted out to him by any other person. The consequences of his apostasy in this world and in the next life lie solely in the hands of God. Man is free to accept or reject whatever beliefs he chooses. God says in the Holy Quran:

There is no compulsion in religion. (2:257)

It is the truth from your Lord; wherefore let him who will believe and let him who will disbelieve. (18:30)

Islam recognizes the right of freedom of conscience and freedom of belief and that as far as one’s religious belief is concerned one is answerable to God alone. No man has the right to punish another for his choice of belief. There is absolutely no compulsion whatsoever in Islam and no punishment of any kind permitted in the Holy Quran for apostasy.

Human rights are laid own in the Holy Quran which guarantee man the right of perfect freedom of faith and conscience. In such matters God is the Judge , not man.

Why are missionaries not allowed in Islamic countries?

Why are missionaries not allowed in Islamic countries?

Again this is due to the deviation from actual teachings of Islam. Islam does not enforce faith on anybody. It provides evidence for it's belief system. If the evidence convinces someone (his brain testifies it as truth and logical) than he can accept Islam. If some other faith convinces him he can embrace that faith. If his heart, soul, brain testifies that there is no God and no religion he can live a life as an Athiest. There is no Compulsion.

Religious freedom is not only the freedom to practice your faith. It includes the freedom and liberty to propagate your faith.

If you set aside Burqa, Hijab, Scarf thing which for me is Islamic and a choice which should be solely on the women with no interference from any state or individual to either wear or abandon it than you will see that that in terms of religious freedom Trump's America and the country where the owner of this forum lives are more ISLAMIC than the so called Muslim Countries. Why ? Because they give religious freedom to all which is exactly what Islam says.

So Countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran should allow Missionaries of other faiths to propagate their faith and leave it to people to chose whatever the path they want to chose. But they are fundamental dictators who think religion is their personal property and they want to control people with the weapon of religion.

In Current state none of the Islamic Countries are truly Islamic. Islam does not prohibit entry of faith preachers of other faiths in even an Islamic State since Islam considers such an act to be against religious freedom.

Guys.. At least read the bloody article! He was born a Jew but accidentally recorded as a Muslim. So, he's not really an "apostate".

As far as I know there is no punishment for leaving Islam if he does not insult it afterwards. I have no problem with him becoming a Jew, the human heart and conscience are free to believe in whatever it wants.
