There is no point to these changes, the captain and more importantly, the mentality needs to change.

Tonight will be fun, the team will be torn apart and careers will definitely be ruined. I don’t take pleasure in watching this happen, but the press conferences from Hasan Ali and Imam-ul-haq makes your blood boil as a Pakistan fan and its satisfying to see them getting slapped across the face like this.
1999 WC final defeat after that i don't burn my blood anymore. We still have outside chance to qualify for semi's technically but surely we don't deserve tbh. What i have seen today on field they're are missing just one thing that is "Passion & Pride" anyways bulk changes mean atleast all players can get a chance to play in WC.

It is a mystery to us Bangladeshis as well......

Our best performers Mushfiq and Riyad are batting at number 6 and 8 .... Kumble and Wasim both pointed out the stupidity of having Riyad batting at 8

Miraz is playing as opener, number 4, number 3, number 7 depending on the coach's mood

Our 2 batsmen with the worst form are playing at 3rd and 5th respectively.

Oh and our best ever batsman who was in good form is sitting at home (Tamim Iqbal) because of Shakib's ego
Our best ever batsmen? Tamim?

I agree about Riad and mushy but come on Tamim isn't our best bat esp in WCs where he averages 25 while Riad mushy average 50+. And good form? Have you seen his stats this year? Sub 30 average is not “good form”

Well they can start with winning rest of the matches, rest not in their hands.

We will win the next 4 games and qualify for the semis InshAllah
We won final 4 games in the 2019 ODI WC as well
12 points won't guarantees for semi's. Aussies are not fool they know what to do with NRR against NL.
I can tell you we might win against bangladesh only.
We need to give chances to bench now.
Rauf, shadab, mir, imam need to hot the bench now.

12 points REALISTICALLY do guarantee qualification
If we win next 4, we are 99% guaranteed qualification

Nopes, we need to rely on other team results.
What if aus win all their matches? Or even england?
So realistically we are done.
That would mean a bunch of 50-50 games played by other teams going against us.

Let's talk REALISTICALLY here
We can even go through with 10 points but that would be unrealistic

If we reach 12 points, we will REALISTICALLY go through

What he means to say is 12 points alone may not be enough. It may come down to 12 points + NRR difference

This is how Pakistan went to Final in 2023 20 20 , what happened there ? Pakistan cricket has regressed , the sooner the PCB realizes the better it is.

They’re not down. They’re out. And deserve it. Cut out the “cornered tiger” rubbish. We’re not good enough and don’t deserve to go through. Furthermore the captain is intellectually inept. Sorry to shatter your dreams.

I appreciate your passion for pakistan to reach semi's.
But tbh we are done. 4 wins in a row against SA, BD, NZ, ENG is not possible at all.

Interesting thing this WC.

Even after these humiliating losses we’re still in the cup.

Both Aus and Pak have good chance.
It’s about form. Players. Talent. Hope. Not kool-aid. We have nothing and deserve nothing. Time to go home instead of dreaming of a Rocky comeback. Oh and try and avoid the slippers.

Mathematically I guess they are. But they don't look like they have the fight for it. They haven't looked like it during the best of days this WC, so it's looking unlikely on their worst days they have a fight left in them.

There has been something very lame about their entire outing this WC.

They will surely score a win against Bangladesh and England....they might defeat NZ too, we all know NZ is scared of Pakistan in ICC tournaments....I don't think they have a chance against SA though, SA is the best team in this world cup.

They won’t win another game

It is time for some Qudrat ka nizam lets bring Saqi back as coach and let destiny do the rest haha all though do not think we get lucky this time around

Pakistan's upcoming matches and their chances of winning them:
1. vs. South Africa: The Chennai pitch will favor Pakistan. Also, They stay there for a week. Good chance for them to win.
2. vs. Bangladesh: If the Kolkatta pitch aids a little bit of pace, as it has in recent years, it is bye-bye Bangladesh. Pakistan will be on top easily.
3. vs. New Zealand: Pakistan has the wood on NZ in ICC events. It could be a tough fight, but Pakistan has the better chance.
4. vs. England: Depends on what is at stake at that time of the tournament. England is down now, but if they are on a streak, they could beat Pakistan.

Overall, I see 3 wins out of 4 (4 out of 4 is a possibility) which will give them at least 10 points, if not 12.
12: Pakistan qualifies.
10: If they get a good NRR, they can qualify for the playoffs.

There are great chances Babar will lift the Cup.

Please man. Stop the torture. Please deport these miserable souls and we can all pretend we would have won if the big bad Indians had let us play.

4 losses are 99% locked.

Anything can happen, but Pakistan has to play really good cricket to win the next 3-4 games. Pakistan also has to get bit lucky because bowling and batting has some problems.

I understand Pakistani fans are as passionate as Indian fans. The PCT did appear a very good team before the Asia Cup. But the form of their main bowlers went down and with that, the team looks weak. Naseem Shah's injury accentuated it.

Against India, their batting inexplicably collapsed, against Australia and Afghanistan, the bowling and fielding did them the damage. I am sure the team knows their mistakes and works on fixing them. In the middle of a tournament, all you can do is support them and hope for better results for your team.

They have no middle-order control whatsoever with ball. So i am not sure how they are going to deal with bigger sides.

Seeming very unlikely that we qualify from here. Of course I will still root for the team to win, but beating New Zealand, England, and South Africa in a row is an incredibly tough task. It would require a drastic change in our form and if we somehow did win all four it would mean that it was all part of the masterplan to peak at the right time :afridi

Still hoping for the best :)

This format is the best format for late starters unlike 2007. Teams can catch up. But given that there are too many one sided games your win should also be one-sided.

Very difficult for Pakistan to qualify now.
They have remaining matches against strong teams like Newzealand, England and South Africa. They will surely wins against Bangaldesh.

On the other hand, Australia have faced almost all difficult opponents barring England and Newzealand. They will easily beat Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Netherlands.

Like Paksitan, England too have difficult path as they are yet to face quality sides like India and Australia. They have Net run rate issues as well

Funniest outcome would be Pakistan managing to win against South Africa, New Zealand, and England and then getting a bad one sided beating from Bangladesh lol

stop the torture dont expect anything now. if it happens good if it doesn’t just let go
i had my finals starting from wednesday couldn’t study yesterday due to the game. But i Give up i Quit
I wont watch this team, if they somehow manage to qualify i will be back. but i quit i can’t take it anymore 💔

Don't worry. I feel like some few upsets are waiting to happen here and there. Also, BD usually gets some win over big names when they get their act together. Might make it interesting for some teams if results goes their way in some of the games

Time to cheer for NL beating australia :gayle

Since ASIA cup:

Imam dropped for Fakhar
Fakhar dropped for Imam
Shadab dropped for Usama
Nawaz dropped for Shadab

Now we want Usama to be dropped for Nawaz, Imam to be dropped for Fakhar. what is going on?

Why don't we accept that Pak has no match to the skillset other teams possess (Including BAN,NED,AFG). Just accept the reality and move.

I understand tempers are high and rightly so for the abysmal display we have seen from Pakistan so far. I wanted to do this thread not to vent my frustration but simply point out that we are carrying a lot of passengers in this team. Carrying just 1 or max 2 passengers can sometimes be thrown under the rug but to have half team of unfit, un-professional, demotivated and disinterested individuals will never yield any positive results.

1. Imam ul Haq - 1/10
For me Imam is one of the biggest reason Pakistan is under the heat at the moment. In India, opening the batting is the best time to bat before the ball gets old and difficult to score. Yet Imam who is clearly playing to avoid any criticism later bides his time at the top and wastes important powerplay. Not only he does that he gets set by playing 50 balls or so and then gives his wicket away. This is criminal in my opinion that once you are in you simply throw it away. Points for Imam has also been deducted for being poor on the field and putting on extra weight. The guy clearly doesn't look interested or professional. I reckon once he is dropped from the team it would be difficult for him to maintain his fitness standards.

2. Abdullah Shafique - 6/10
One of the positives Pakistan will take from this campaign is that they got a batter who it technically correct and does put a price on his wicket. It can be argued that he should have played a longer innings vs Afghanistan but what he has done so far suggests he can be a reliable bat for Pakistan going forward in ODI and Tests. I would like to see him improve further in the field though and improve his fitness standards.

3. Babar Azam - 3/10
I'm marking Babar very poorly and that is largely due to his batting. The manner in which Babar has been dismissed against Australia and India turned the tides against us in those games. When an important player like Babar does not put a price on his wicket and gives his wicket away against the run of play then its difficult to recover from that and exactly that is what happened in those games. Yes he played a decent knock against Afghanistan for which I gave him couple of points. Significant points deducted for his non-existent and abysmal captaincy. The guy still thinks Ifti is a part timer and he is better off bowling Shadab or Usama than him, he is just so poor I dont want to further comment on it.

4. Rizwan - 7/10
One of the top run scorer so far in this tournament and arguably pivotal in couple of wins we had in this tournament. Points have been deducted for his dismissal against India and Afghanistan as his longer presence would have bought some respect to the team but would not have changed the end result. As far as his keeping is concerned he has been flawless so far. Points have been deducted for his abysmal review strategy. Clearly this guy should be nowhere near taking reviews.

5. Saud Shakeel - 4/10
I understand its his first big tournament and would have some nerves. However the one thing I'm not happy about Saud is giving his wicket away after getting set and playing 30+ balls. He gifted his wicket against SL, Aus and then Afg. On top of that the guy is getting dismissed from spinners with relative ease which supposedly was his strong point. Ideally I would like to see more maturity from Saud whilst batting and not give his wicket away. Another point deducted was due to his fielding. He is normally fielding at the sweeper cover and perhaps due to low strength in his arm or stature he has largely been unsuccessful in cutting down on 2s so he needs to improve his outfield fielding too.

6. Iftikhar Ahmed - 7/10
I believe Ifti has had a good world cup so far. Ifti has given the team much needed boost from lower middle order when he has come onto bat. He is our genuine six hitter. For a WC in India its surprising we carry only 1 six hitter with us. Not only his batting burst but his bowling has been very tidy and economical. He has been doing similar work as Nabi of Afghanistan the only problem is that Nabi gets to complete his quota whilst Ifti never completed his quota thanks to our master captain tactics. Overall good world cup so far for him.

7. Shadab Khan - 3/10
My god has this guy regressed or what. The guy can't simply land the ball on wicket. He is so consistent with his full tosses and half trackers that good balls from his are now counted as variations. The thing that irked me about yesterday against Afghanistan was that when he did manage to land some deliveries they ripped past the batsmen with sharp turn. After looking at that one must imagine how poor you have to be to waste conditions like that. Answer is very poor, Shadab level poor.

8. Muhammad Nawaz - 2/10
Just imagine what Imad Wasim will be currently going through. We picked Nawaz over Imad when in recent times we saw Imad dominate the CPL or domestic circle and Nawaz getting a thorough beating in Asia Cup and even against C/D touring teams in bilaterals. Even with data in front of us we chose friendly Nawaz so why were we expecting results to be different to what has come through in the past year. The results were in line with my expectations. One more thing to add for Nawaz is that this guy has completely lost it with the bat. I'm confident Shaheen might outperform him with bat.

9. Shaheen Shah - 5/10
Shaheen of old is clearly missing. What we have seen is that Shaheen tends to bowl too full in his initial spell where he leaks plenty of runs whilst his second and third spells are on point. Also with Shaheen pace not being as same levels as before its clear he is carrying slight injury but good to see his pace going up as the tournament is progressing. Points are being deducted for Shaheen's opening spell mainly. If he can address his new ball issues and pitch the ball at back of length it would immensely help Pakistan's cause. Point also being deducted for his fielding which needs improvement on diving aspect.

10. Hasan Ali - 2/10
Hasan has no business playing the WC but yet here we are where he is part of our attack. Hasan doesn't fill you with confidence. The guy leaks significant runs and is not a reliable later in the innings either. What I don't like about Hasan is his attitude where he seems disinterested all the time. He does not give two hoots about Pakistan's progress and that can be seen from his body language. Couple of points also deducted for his abysmal fielding. The guy dives around as an athlete but barely touches or stops the ball. He is good for camera antics but not on field.

11. Haris Rauf - 1/10
What a tournament for Haris Rauf so far. He has been shredded to pieces by opposition. The guy created a small following with T20 cricket and bowling 150 clicks to C/D sides. The real answer in here is that Haris Rauf is a T20 bowler and nothing more. Yes he has pace but on flip side he doesn't have brains. You need both to have a decent career. In my opinion he has got no control on his lengths or bowling, he steams in to bowl full throttle and doesn't care where it pitches.

12. Usama Mir - 2/10
The guy just played 2 games so far but it can be said his one catch drop against Warner effectively ended that game for Pakistan. I understand the guy is under severe pressure which can be seen from his facial expression but to be so clueless and not present a single threat on spinning wicket of Chennai also suggests that you are not good enough. For me Usama bowls far too full for ball to have any impact from wicket and hence is easily played by batsmen. Also due to his lengths its easier for batsmen to lift him down ground for sixes. His batting is shambolic to add to that.

Finally absolute 0 points for PCB management and coaching staff. They are equally responsible for this shambolic display. We have had significant changes in our domestic setup, chairmen and other PCB personnel over political play which has infact bought about negative influence on our cricket. I for one wish our cricket is completely separate from our political environment.

We will win the next 4 games and qualify for the semis InshAllah
We won final 4 games in the 2019 ODI WC as well
That team in 2019 was better than this one

Why can’t you accept that?

Pakistan may still sneak in. They are quite capable of winning all of their remaining games. Nevertheless, AFG played a fantastic game of cricket. Hope to see more such games from them. Happy from them. Very nice and down to earth people just like WI. Play their game with lots of passion. Good luck to them.

Watch us beat SA (who we normally beat) and the hope which will kill start again.
Talk about overconfidence. This is not your ‘normal’ SA team- look at the form their batters are in & look where your bowling stands at this point. Even India would be wary of facing SA at this point of time.

I saw a Python simulation that claims you still have a 22.5% chance of making the semis. And it will go up to 25% if Bangladesh wins today.
Did Babar the stat master code that simulation?

Because ain't no way python is messing up if you give it actual factual information. Code it with the bowling stats this tournament along with the batting stats and use ai to if python the stats of rizzu performing against Sri Lanka but compare said stats to the probability of success of Sri Lankan bowling stats vs india's bowling stats.

You'll the python predictor showing like a 0.2 to 1% chance lol.

Give it all the information, not just the random numbers. Tell python how pur bowling is toothless, how our batting cam only function if the opposition bowling attack is toothless which besides Sri lanka, Bangladesh, Nedthelrands and England, the rest are goated attacks. Also tell python how our fielding is the 2nd coming of johnty Rhodes(April fools Joke)

Yet they lost to the Dutch. The choker tag is still there.

In the last World Cup, we managed to beat South Africa, England, New Zealand and Bangladesh which ironically, we have to do again if we have any chance to qualify for the semis.

Unfortunately, while previous World Cup and this one share mostly the same players, the current lot look absolutely lost under Babar's leadership so I don't see us going on some rampant winning streak...

Would be nice to see but it would like the best inform team vs most out of form team.
One team are ready to roar other are ready to go back.

Conditions are different too, England is probably second home to PCT , their bowling suits English conditions.

Pakistan has hardly any plan for Indian pitches and other team are well equipped due to IPL and professionalism.

I agree with this.

English conditions are very good for Pakistani pacers (someone like Shaheen and even Hasan Ali).

Indian pitches tend to be flat. Not ideal for Pakistani pacers.

Indian pitches turn a bit and there is reverse swing as well, cutters work too.

But PCT is not as good as it was with reverse. All the shining Babbar did yesterday yet changed the bowler when it started to reverse lol, some hilarious moments yesterday from DRS to bowling changes.

Fair point as England is a second home to us (Champions Trophy win and all)...maybe we did all underestimate Saf's captaincy as well as even though he lost it the likes of West Indies in the first match (who could be compared to this year's Afghanistan) India and Australia (like in this WC), he still managed to lift the team up to put together some impressive wins (and he was also getting a lot of abuse e.g. being verbally abused by a bitter Pakistan fan at a mall when his family was present too)...

I think he was a good captain , when he dropped Shehzad after India game that showed he was proactive Fakhar made all the difference in that game but currently Sarfaraz is finished as a player.

Chances for semi finals is zero

Only thing left for Pakistan In this world cup is what further embarrassment they can achieve in remainder of the competition

The thing about Pakistan is that it's a fascinating momentum team.

When they disappoint, they really disappoint. But when they get on a roll, they become unstoppable. It's an incredibly emotional cricket team and always has been.

If they win that game on Friday, I can see them rolling off a 4-game win streak.

No way..I guess winning even against Bangladesh will be a difficult proposition not to speak of other teams..Pakistan need to send all these players back to domestic matches and let them grind there.pwkistsn need to select 2 different teams and captains for test/ ODIs and t20s.
I guess Pakistan should make shaan captain of test/ ODIs and Shaheen for t 20...
Shoaib akhtar be made head coach/ bowling coach and Hafeez batting coach
Pls.select players on merit and make sure to pick players on their performance in domestic.what is the point of playing shahdab in odis when he doesn't play long format both internationally or in domestic.
Test/ ODI team should be
Shaan/shaan
Abdullah/Saim ayub
Usman salahuddin/Tayyab Tahir
Babar/Babar
Saud/Saud
Asad shafiq/Azam khan
Sarfaraz/Imad wasim
Zafar gohar/Abbas Afridi
Shaheen/Shaheen
Naseem/Naseem
Arshad iqbal/
